Texas, Centennial HS,...Richards put together his best performance of his freshman season on Saturday night, providing a key part in the Greyhound's seven sacks as a team in their overtime win over #21 Angelo State on Saturday night. Richards totaled 3.5 sacks against the Rams to help limit the Ram offense to just 265 total yards on the evening. The Burleson, Texas native finished the night with six tackles, 2.5 for a loss and 3.5 sacks and leads the Lone Star Conference with 10 sacks on the year. - Lone Star Football

  NOV 4 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: North Texas senior QB Mason Fine completed 24-of-39 passes for 332 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns in a 52-26 win over UTEP. Fine's seven touchdowns broke his previous career-high that he set last week at Charlotte when he threw five. He is the first Conference USA quarterback to throw for seven touchdowns in a game since Marshall's Rakeem Cato (Nov. 28, 2014) and the fourth signal-caller to accomplish the feat.

The senior from Peggs, Oklahoma, became the seventh player in C-USA history to throw for 12,000 yards in a career (now 12,026) and he moved into seventh place all-time in C-USA with his school-record 91 career touchdown passes. Fine's 27 TD passes on the year lead C-USA, are tied for third nationally and equal his 2018 season total. This is the third-straight season that Fine has won C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors and the fourth overall weekly award. - Conference USA Football

  Mason Fine threw a career-high seven touchdown passes to lead North Texas to a 52-26 victory over UTEP on Saturday. Fine scored on three of his first four completions, finished 24-of-39 passing for 332 yards and surpassed 12,000 yards in his career. Fine threw three scores to Jaelon Darden, a pair to Deonte Simpson and a 48-yarder to Jyaire Shorter. Darden and Michael Lawrence each caught six passes, and Lawrence led with 87 yards receiving. Tre Siggers ran for 85 yards on 22 carries. North Texas (4-5, 3-2 Conference USA) scored on the first play from scrimmage on a 33-yard TD pass from Fine to Simpson as the Mean Green built a 38-14 halftime lead. Treyvon Hughes's 42-yard touchdown run pulled UTEP (1-7, 0-5) to 38-20 late in the third quarter. Hughes finished with 97 yards rushing and three touchdowns.   OCT 21/WEEK 8 CONFERENCE USA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: North Texas sophomore K Ethan Mooney accounted for 15 of the 21 special teams points for the Mean Green in their 33-30 win over Middle Tennessee. The Fort Worth, Texas, native was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts, connecting from 26, 32, 39 and 22 yards. The 22-yarder came as time expired to send North Texas back into the win column for the first time since week four against UTSA. Mooney leads C-USA and is tied for fifth nationally with 13 field goals made on the season. - C-USA Football

  Mason Fine led the game-winning drive capped by Ethan Mooney's 22-yard field goal as time expired to lift North Texas over Middle Tennessee 33-30 on Saturday. Middle Tennessee (2-5, 1-2 Conference USA) tied the game at 30-all with 28 seconds left. On the ensuing kickoff, Deion Hair-Griffin returned it 50 yards to get the Mean Green (3-4, 2-1) to the Middle Tennessee 44. Fine completed passes of 11 yards to Nic Smith and 28 yards to Jaelon Darden to set up Mooney at the 7. Fine finished 33 of 45 for 375 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions and ran for another touchdown. Asher O'Hara passed for 136 yards and ran for 82 yards and a touchdown for the Blue Raiders. Chase Cunningham replaced O'Hara in the fourth quarter and finished with 121 yards passing, a touchdown pass and a touchdown run. - North Texas/AP College Football

  SEPT 9/WEEK 2 SOUTHERN CONFERENCE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sean-Thomas Faulkner, The Citadel, R-So., DB, Easley, S.C.,...Citadel defensive back Sean-Thomas Faulkner played a huge role on special teams in the Bulldogs' 35-28 loss at Elon on Saturday. The redshirt sophomore from Easley, South Carolina, blocked a pair of punts in the contest, with The Citadel cashing in for touchdowns on its next possession both times.

Faulkner's first block came late in the first quarter and resulted in the Bulldogs tying the score at 7 early in the second. His second blocked punt came late in the third quarter deep in Elon territory, setting up The Citadel with first-and-goal from the 5-yard line, which the Bulldogs converted to draw to within 21-14. Faulkner also returned a pair of punts for 30 yards and had seven tackles on the day.   WEEK 1 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jason Pirtle, TE, North Texas,...North Texas redshirt junior TE Jason Pirtle hauled in four catches for 88 yards and three touchdowns in North Texas' 51-31 win over Abilene Christian to open the season on Saturday night. His first touchdown of the night was the first of his career and came on the first play from scrimmage for the Mean Green. Pirtle's touchdowns came from distances of 32, 17 and 12 yards. The Locust Grove, Oklahoma native's three touchdowns in a single game tied for the second-most in program history. Pirtle was the only tight end in the FBS to catch three touchdowns passes on the opening weekend of the season and just four players scored more TD's. - Conference USA Football

  Mason Fine threw for 383 yards and four touchdowns to lead North Texas past Abilene Christian 51-31 in a season opener on Saturday night. Rico Bussey Jr. had four receptions for 156 yards and a score and Jason Pirtle caught three touchdowns and had 88 yards receiving. DeAndre Torrey ran for 95 yards on 11 carries. North Texas scored 31-unanswered points in the first half with Fine connecting with Pirtle on TD throws of 32, 17 and 12 yards.

Ethan Mooney's 29-yard field goal made it 31-0 with 2:45 left in the half. After an Abilene Christian touchdown with 1:01 to go, Deion Hair-Griffin returned the kickoff 96 yards for another Mean Green score, stretching it to 38-7. In the final minute of the half, Abilene Christian QB Luke Anthony moved the Wildcats 49 yards in eight plays, setting up a Blair Zepeda 43-yard field goal to close to 38-10 at halftime. The Wildcats outscored North Texas 21-13 in the second half but the Mean Green held on for the win. Anthony finished with 273 yards and a touchdown passing for the Wildcats.
