TaMerik Williams rushed for a career-high 145 yards and three touchdowns and FCS top-ranked North Dakota State rallied in the second half to beat Indiana State 31-26 on Saturday. Williams ran for a pair of third-quarter touchdowns when the Bison (5-1, 3-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference) passed the Sycamores (1-4, 0-2), taking a 24-20 lead on Williams' third TD run. Cam Miller's 10-yard touchdown pass to Zach Mathis in the fourth quarter gave the Bison an 11-point cushion they would need after Cade Chambers threw a fade to Dante Hendrix to get the Sycamores within five with two minutes left. NDSU then recovered an onside kick. Chambers finished with 162 yards passing and two scores and ran for another. Justin Dinka rushed for a career-high 156 yards on nine carries, including an 82-yard score, and Dante Hendrix added 109 yards receiving on seven catches, including two TDs. Hunter Luepke ran for a pair of first-quarter touchdowns and FCS top-ranked North Dakota State led the rest of the way en route to a 27-14 victory on Saturday over Youngstown State. Kobe Johnson's 17-yard touchdown run led to a 21-3 halftime lead for the Bison (4-1, 2-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference). Mitch Davidson's 35-yard touchdown pass to Jaleel McLaughlin got the Penguins (2-2, 0-1) within 10 points at 24-14 with 4 1/2 minutes left. Griffin Crosa's 39-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter extended the Bison's lead to 24-6. He added a 38-yarder in the final minute. Luepke had 72 yards for a Bison rushing attack that finished with 227 yards against a Youngstown State defense that came in ranked 11th nationally at under 70 rushing yards allowed per game. McLaughlin ran for 150 yards on 17 carries for the Penguins, becoming the seventh player in NCAA all-divisions history to go over 7,000 rushing yards in his career. Luepke, with 20 carries, had a pair of short TD runs in the second half when the Bison outscored the Coyotes 24-0 to erase a first-half deficit. The Bison (3-1, 1-0) opened their Missouri Valley Football Conference season with a victory after losing at Arizona 31-28 last week. North Dakota State hasn't lost consecutive games since 2009. Carson Camp threw 28 yards to Wesley Eliodor in the final minute of the first half for a 17-10 halftime lead for South Dakota (2-2, 0-1). Cam Miller's 13-yard TD run tied the game and Luepke added the first of his two TDs to put the Bison out front. There were seven turnovers in the game, four by the Coyotes. Destin Talbert returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown, Jayden Price added a 67-yard punt runback for a score and defending national champion North Dakota State rolled past Drake 56-14 on Saturday. Prior to their season opener, the Bison raised their latest national championship banner inside the Fargodome. They won their ninth FCS championship 11 years this past season. Drake scored first on a short pass from Ian Corwin to Dorian Boyland but NDSU then ran off 42 straight points by halftime starting with Cam Miller's 31-yard touchdown pass to Zach Mathis followed by the blocked field goal and punt return.

Miller threw just nine times with six completions including two scores. Eight different NDSU players scored, including Will Mostaert's return of a fumble, the Bison's first touchdown on defense in four years. Corwin threw for two touchdowns plus an interception. This was the teams' first meeting since 1962. Drake had won both previous games, played in Des Moines, Iowa.
