The Esko, Minn., native currently sits alone in fourth place in UND's Division I history (2008-present) with 11.0 career sacks. - North Dakota Football

He finished with 31 total tackles (14 solo), one interception and three pass break ups on the season. Buckner saw action in three games at outside linebacker in 2018 before earning a medical redshirt. The 6-foot-1, 206-pounder collected 10 stops (seven solo) and three tackles for loss that season – and was a three-star recruit out of Tucker (Ga.)   2019 ALL-NSIC NORTH DIVISION SECOND TEAM (COACHES): Devon Krzanowski, LB, So., St. Cloud State, Fond du Lac, Wis.,...The eighteenth defense in the country saw seven more student athletes rewarded for their play on the field. Krznowski led the Huskies with 72 total tackles from the linebacker position. Krznowski also added 9.5 tackles for a loss; 4.5 of those tackles for a loss were sacks on the quarterback.   The University of North Dakota football team will make its second appearance in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs next weekend after the selection committee has awarded the Fighting Hawks a visiting game against Nicholls on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. (CT) in the Thibodaux, Louisiana. This will be the second appearance in the FCS playoffs and 18th overall appearance in postseason play, with Saturday's contest against the Colonels will be the 13th playoff game away from Grand Forks. The Hawks are 3-9 on the road in their postseason history. Saturday's contest marks the first meeting in program history between North Dakota and Nicholls State. - North Dakota Football

  Nate Ketteringham threw for two touchdowns, Luke Skokna ran for two scores, and North Dakota defeated Southern Utah 36-18 on Saturday. Ketteringham finished 22 of 31 for 286 yards. Skokna carried 11 times for 114 yards. Noah Wanzek had six receptions for 100 yards for the Fighting Hawks (7-4), who finished 6-0 at home this season. Skokna's 28-yard run late in the third quarter helped North Dakota extend its 20-18 lead and his 34-yard run in the fourth capped the scoring. Brady Leach kicked three field goals for UND. After falling behind 7-0, Southern Utah (3-9) took a 15-7 lead in the second quarter on a Thomas Duckett 1-yard run and an 18-yard Duckett TD catch from Chris Helbig. However, the Thunderbirds would only add Kekoa Sasaoka's 47-yard field goal in the third quarter. Helbig completed 24 of 42 passes for 258 yards. - AP College Football

  Nate Ketteringham threw for 297 yards and two scores and added another on the ground to help North Dakota beat Northern Colorado 45-38 on Saturday. Kadon Kauppinen gave North Dakota a 45-21 lead with a 7-yard return of a blocked punt but Northern Colorado got within a score with 4:03 to go after 17 unanswered points. North Dakota went three-and-out and pinned Northern Colorado at the 7. Three plays later, Jaxson Turner intercepted a pass to seal it. Noah Wanzek caught nine passes for 125 yards and a touchdown for North Dakota (6-4). Cam McKinney carried it six times for 105 yards and a 55-yard score to make it 38-21 early in the third. Jacob Knipp led Northern Colorado (2-9) with 393 yards passing and three touchdowns, but he was intercepted twice. Jaren Mitchell caught 10 passes for 242 yards and two scores.   Alex Cloyd blocked a punt in the end zone and Jayson Coley recovered for a touchdown to spark North Dakota's 16-12 victory over Montana State on Saturday. Cloyd lined up at left tackle, broke through a block and smothered the punt. Coley recovered for the Fighting Hawks (5-3) as the ball was bouncing out of the end zone toward the field of play. Both teams scored one touchdown on offense. Fighting Hawks backup quarterback Brock Boltmann threw a touchdown on his only pass attempt, 36 yards to Travis Toivonen for a 7-3 lead in the first quarter. Montana State's only touchdown came on Troy Andersen's go-ahead 1-yard run midway through the fourth quarter for a 12-10 lead. North Dakota starting quarterback Nate Ketteringham completed 27 of 36 attempts for 220 yards. He was sacked four times. Montana State (5-3), ranked No. 9 in both FCS polls, was held to 97 yards passing.   Nate Ketteringham accounted for three touchdowns, including a 39-yard TD pass to Alex Cloyd with 1:49 to play, and North Dakota beat Cal Poly 30-26 on Saturday night. Ketteringham was 20-of-30 passing for 234 yards and two touchdowns and added a 1-yard scoring run and Cloyd finished with two receptions for 41 yards and two TDs. James Johannesson had 13 carries for 82 yards and a score for North Dakota (4-3). Duy Tran-Sampson's 2-yard touchdown run gave Cal Poly (2-5) a 23-14 lead with 6:46 left in the third quarter but the Fighting Hawks responded with an 11-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 2-yard TD pass from Ketteringham to Cloyd about four minutes later and Brady Leach's 23-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter made it 24-23.

The Mustangs then put together a 16-play drive that stalled at the 25 before Colton Theaker's 42-yard field goal put them back in front. On fourth-and-2, Ketteringham faked a handoff and, with the blitz in his face, threw a short pass off his back foot to Cloyd who raced to the end zone for what proved to be the winning score.   Brady Leach kicked a go-ahead 46-yard field goal with 57 seconds remaining, atoning for an earlier miss, and North Dakota held on to defeat UC Davis 38-36 on Saturday. The Aggies drove to the UND 30 with less than a minute remaining but a false-start penalty on third down and a delay-of-game penalty on fourth down left them facing fourth-and-14 from the 40. Jake Maier threw incomplete on fourth down and the Fighting Hawks held on for the homecoming win. No. 12 UC Davis, which three weeks ago was ranked No. 4 in FCS, lost its third consecutive game and fell to 2-3.

With UND leading 35-28 late in the fourth quarter, Leach missed a 37-yard field-goal attempt. The Aggies then drove the length of the field and on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line Maier hit Wes Preece for a touchdown and Khris Vaughn for a 2-point conversion and 36-35 lead. North Dakota (2-2) responded by driving 36 yards in eight plays to set up Leach's winning field goal. Maier passed for 312 yards and four touchdowns but was intercepted three times, twice by C.J. Siegel. Preece had five catches for 68 yards and three scores. Nate Ketteringham threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns for the Fighting Hawks.   Noah Larson forced a fumble recovered by Jalen Morrison as North Dakota halted a Sam Houston State drive late in the game to preserve a 27-23 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Bearkats, trailing by four, drove to North Dakota's 10 with 1:06 remaining in the game. Larson then forced Eric Schmid to fumble and Morrison's recovery sealed the second straight win over SHSU. The Fighting Hawks knocked off SHSU on its home field last year, 24-23, to snap a 21-game home win streak.

Tommy Schuster threw for 165 yards and a touchdown with Noah Wanzek pulling down nine tosses for 109 yards for the Fighting Hawks (2-1). It was an odds-evens game as North Dakota won the first quarter 14-0, SHSU scored 14 in the second to tie it at the half and the Fighting Hawks scored 13 in the third to go up 27-14, but SHSU (1-2) came up short in the final quarter, scoring nine points.   Backup quarterback Andrew Zimmerman threw for two scores, Nate Ketteringham threw for another and North Dakota spoiled coach Todd Stepsis' debut by beating Drake 47-7 in Saturday's season opener for both teams. The Fighting Hawks held the Bulldogs 13 total yards in the first quarter, 40 at halftime and 129 overall and scored a safety when a high snap on a Drake punt attempt rolled out of the end zone.

Ketteringham, 19 of 15 for 152 yards, capped North Dakota's second drive with a 5-yard TD pass to Noah Wanzek and Zimmerman, 7 of 9 for 132, threw a 28-yard TD pass to Garett Maag and a 35-yarder to Travis Toivonen. The Fighting Hawks had 439 total yards, including 136 rushing, with James Johannesson scoring on a 1-yard run, Cam Mckinney on a 4-yarder and Noah Grover on a 5-yarder. Drake's offense got going in the third quarter, with true freshman Ian Corwin capping and eight-play, 65-yard drive with a 10-yard TD pass to Devin Cates.   2019 PRESEASON PHIL STEELE/DRAFT SCOUT ALL-FCS FOURTH TEAM: Mason Bennett, North Dakota, Sr.,...Bennett opened eyes nationally with his play in 2018 by pacing the Fighting Hawk defense with 9.0 sacks. The Winnipeg, Man., native finished just two sacks shy of the single-season record for sacks at UND, set in 1999 (Wes Atkinson) and tied in 2001 by current defensive coordinator Eric Schmidt (11.0).

The Canadian also led UND with 15.0 tackles for loss and seven quarterback hurries, a statistic not kept by all universities. Bennett recorded multiple sacks in four games, including a pair of two-sack contests in wins over Mississippi Valley State and No. 5/6 Sam Houston State. He also tallied a fumble recovery at Idaho and had a pair of games with three TFLs (vs. MVSU and at Sacramento State). - North Dakota Football
