The first top-10 shakeup in more than a month pushed Coastal Carolina to No. 9 in The Associated Press college football poll on Sunday. Alabama was a unanimous No. 1, followed by Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson and Texas A&M as those teams held their spots for a sixth straight week. Surprising losses by Florida and Miami shuffled the rest of the top 10. No. 6 Cincinnati and No. 7 Indiana each moved up one spot and No. 8 Iowa State jumped two. Then come the unbeaten Chanticleers (11-0), the first Sun Belt Conference team to crack the AP's top 10. Georgia landed at No. 10 ahead of Florida at 11. The Gators dropped five spots after losing in bizarre and dramatic fashion to LSU in the fog Saturday night. Miami plummeted 10 spots to No. 19 after getting blown out by North Carolina. The Tar Heels moved up four spots to No. 16. - AP College Football

Jaivon Heiligh caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Grayson McCall with 45 seconds left and No. 11 Coastal Carolina preserved its first perfect regular season with a 42-38 win over Troy on Saturday. McCall needed just 45 seconds to move the Chanticleers (11-0, 8-0 Sun Belt Conference), who didn't have any timeouts, 75 yards for the winning score. He completed all four of his passes on the drive, three of them to Heiligh. They survived a sandwich game between an upset of then-No. 8 BYU and the league title game against No. 17 Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Trojans (5-6, 3-4) didn't make it easy for the highest-ranked team to visit Veterans Memorial Stadium. Backup quarterback Jacob Free, who replaced an injured Gunnar Watson in the fourth quarter, hit Tray Eafford on a 6-yard touchdown with 1:20 left. The play was set up with an interception by star middle linebacker Carlton Martial, who also had 21 tackles. McCall completed 24 of 29 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns. Heligh caught 11 passes for 138 yards and two TDs. McCall also ran for a 2-yard score with 5:03 left for a seemingly safe 35-23 lead. - Coastal Carolina/AP College Football

Although the game was put together with just a couple of days notice, the BYU-Coastal Carolina game was the biggest game of the season for the Cougars. And it was as well for college football fans. Saturday's matchup was ESPNU's most-viewed game since 2015 and fifth-most viewed all-time. A total live audience of 1,425,000 viewers across TV and digital platforms, including ESPNU, ESPN2 bonus coverage and streaming, saw the Chanticleers pull of an upset over the Cougars. - Salt Lake Tribune

A few opt-outs last week brought about some changes to this week's Florida State football depth chart. The Seminoles lost three players last week who either opted out of the remainder of the season, entered the transfer portal or both. Defensive tackle Cory Durden, who also opted out and will transfer, is no longer listed as a backup behind Robert Cooper at nose guard. That backup spot is now solely held by Tru Thompson. - Tallahassee.com

Saturday won't just be the last home game at Carter-Finley Stadium for the N.C. State seniors. Hours before the regular-season finale against Georgia Tech, McNeill made it official - that Saturday would be his final game at Carter-Finley Stadium. McNeill posted on Twitter that he would forgo his final year of eligibility at N.C. State and declare for the NFL Draft. The Wolfpack knows a thing or two about sending defensive linemen to the NFL (seven former defensive linemen have been drafted since Doeren took over in 2013) and McNeill is expected to be the next in line. McNeill has started 18 games in three years at N.C. State and appeared in 35 total. He has 76 tackles heading into the contest versus Georgia Tech. He has 17.5 tackles for loss for his career and 10 sacks. McNeill picked off a pass against Virginia this season and returned it for a touchdown, the only Wolfpack defender with a pick-six this season. - Raleigh News & Observer

Brennan Armstrong threw for a touchdown and ran 60 yards for another Saturday as Virginia beat Boston College 43-32 for its first victory ever against the Eagles. Armstrong carried the ball 17 times and finished with 130 yards, including the 60-yarder in which he ran through the left side of the line and outran several defenders to the end zone, leading the Cavaliers (5-4, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) to their fourth straight victory. He passed for another 287 yards, including a 47-yard TD to Ra'Shaun Henry.

The Eagles (6-5, 5-5) played without injured starting quarterback Phil Jukovec and top running back David Bailey. Dennis Grosel filled in admirably, throwing for 520 yards and four scores, but two interceptions turned into 95-and 80-yard touchdown drives. The Cavaliers also got scoring runs of 10 and 43 yards from backup quarterback Keytaon Thompson and one from Waye Taulapapa as they piled up 262 rushing yards and 59 in all. Virginia led 20-17 at halftime and scored the first 16 points after halftime. - Virginia/AP College Football

With just one regular-season game and one bowl game remaining, McNeill wants to focus on getting to nine wins - one in a bowl game, eight overall and seven in the ACC (which has never been done at N.C. State). But it's clear McNeill has a future in football after N.C. State. The Wolfpack knows a thing or two about sending defensive linemen to the NFL (seven former defensive linemen have been drafted since Doeren took over in 2013) and McNeill is expected to be the next in line. Whether that happens next spring or in 2022 is yet to be determined. McNeill could leave school early, or take one more college season to work on his game. It's hard to ignore the outside pundits who projected him as a potential draft pick this year, but his dad makes it easy. "The first person who sees it before anybody is my dad," McNeill said. "He'll show me and then he'll be like 'put it away.' He just tells me to keep playing. I'm trying to win games, I'm obviously going to keep playing hard so that we can win games." - Raleigh News Observer

Coastal is trying to go 10-0 for just the second time in program history, joining the 2014 team, which started 11-0, and has won 10 straight going back to last year's season-ending win over Texas State. The first-year starter has completed 117 of 174 passes (67.2 percent) for 1,747 yards and 20 touchdowns with just one interception, and has rushed for 365 yards and five scores on 74 carries. - Myrtle Beach Online
