Georgia Tech picked up an offensive lineman through the transfer portal as former Kentucky lineman R.J. Adams announced his commitment Saturday. Adams matches the profile of several players who have aligned with Tech out of the transfer market this offseason - players who were highly-rated as high-school prospects who have yet to play significantly at the college level. From Woodbridge, Va., Adams was the No. 460 prospect in the 2020 class, the No. 23 guard nationally and a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports Composite.   Six University of Kentucky football players charged with burglary in Fayette County had their cases waived to a grand jury on Wednesday. R.J. Adams, JuTahn McClain, Andru Phillips, Earnest Sanders, Vito Tisdale and Joel Williams all appeared in Fayette District Court for preliminary hearings on Wednesday. Judge Bruce T. Bell granted a request by their attorneys to waive those hearings to a grand jury. The detective who wrote the criminal summons for each player was present in the court room. Attorneys representing the players all declined comment.

No date was set for the grand jury proceeding, which will be closed to the public. According to the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, prosecutors have up to 60 days to present a case to a grand jury, which does not judge innocence or guilt; a grand jury will be presented with evidence to determine whether charges should be dismissed or an indictment should be returned. Nine of 12 jurors must be in agreement to return an indictment. All six players last Thursday were charged with first degree burglary stemming from a March 6 party hosted at a private residence by Alpha Sigma Phi, a campus fraternity. Tisdale, who is on probation for marijuana possession in Warren County, also was charged with first degree wanton endangerment. - Herald Leader

Virginia Tech receiver Elijah Bowick has entered his name into the transfer portal. According to a Tech spokesperson, Bowick is currently serving suspension for unspecified reasons. He played in five games this season, but didn't take an offensive snap. The last time he was in uniform for the Hokies was in a 25-24 loss to Miami on Nov. 14. The 6-foot-1, 187-pounder leaves Myers Park as the program's all-time leading receiver. Bowick caught 62 passes for 1,424 yards as a senior with 17 touchdowns. Bowick moved all over the field at Myers Park High School in Charlotte. Bowick redshirted in 2019 after he suffered an undisclosed injury, which he was still working his way back from in fall camp. He was part of a talented group of receivers Tech signed in 2019, but only two remain on the roster. Jacoby Pinckney entered the transfer portal in January and signed with Appalachian State. - Roanoke Times
