Montana and football coach Bobby Hauck have agreed on a four-year contract that runs through January 2024. "I am excited to have Coach Hauck under contract for four more years leading the football program," athletic director Kent Haslam said in a statement Friday. "He is the right person for the job, and I appreciate his commitment and loyalty to the University of Montana. He is building a program for lasting success both in the classroom and on the football field."

Hauck's teams posted an 80-17 record at Montana from 2003 to 2009. He returned to Montana for the 2018 season and his teams have posted a 16-9 record the past two seasons. The Grizzlies qualified for the FCS playoffs last season for the first time since 2015. Under the new contract, Hauck's base salary, car allowance, retention incentive and pay for appearances at UM Athletics and Grizzly Scholarship Association events total $276,000 for the first year. He could earn another $174,000 in bonuses based on season ticket sales, academic performance, wins, playoff wins and awards, including a $50,000 bonus if the Grizzlies win the FCS national championship. - AP College Football

2020 NFL COMBINE INVITE: Dante Olson, ILB, Montana,...Olson will join 336 other prospects at this year's combine, all looking to make their NFL dreams come true. Workouts begin on Thursday, Feb. 27, with tight ends, quarterbacks and wideouts. Olson is set to compete with fellow linebackers and defensive lineman on Saturday, Feb. 29. One of 44 linebackers to receive an invite to the combine, Olson is the only player at that position from the FCS ranks to receive an invite, and one of just 12 players from the subdivision to book a trip to Indy. The only other player from the Big Sky Conference to receive an invite was Portland State tight end Charlie Taumoepeau. Since earning his degree from UM in December, Olson has been living in Northern California training for his combine opportunity. He is the first Grizzly since Zack Wagenmann in 2015 to compete at the combine. - Montana Football

2019 BUCK BUCHANAN AWARD WINNER: Every. Single. Award. Montana linebacker Dante Olson has taken home virtually every award an FCS football player can earn after leading the subdivision in tackles for a second-straight season with an eyewatering 179 stops as a senior. A consensus All-American, he's already earned Montana's Steve Carlson team MVP award, the Big Sky's Defensive Player of the Year award, Phil Steele Magazine's Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year, and the FCS Athletic Directors Association Defensive MVP. That's not to mention the prestigious awards he's taken home for his work off the field as a National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete and William V. Campbell Trophy Finalist and a member of the 2019 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

Olson cemented his place in Grizzly history as a Buchanan Award winner by beating out a field of 26 semifinalists, including Ron'Dell Carter of James Madison and Sully Laiche of Nicholls, both defensive ends. Carter, the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, finished the regular season with 25.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks, while Laiche had similar to the Southland Conference's Defensive Player of the Year with 22.5 TFLs and 12 sacks. - Montana Football

Illinois State running back James Robinson and Montana linebacker Dante Olson headline the 2019 AFCA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Coaches' All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association. The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves. Robinson led the Missouri Valley Football Conference in rushing yards (1,917), yards per game (127.8) and touchdowns (18). He recorded eight 100-plus yard rushing efforts, including a school-record breaking 297-yard effort in the first-round at Southeast Missouri State. After leading the FCS in tackles for two-straight seasons, Olson repeated as an AFCA All-American after breaking the Big Sky record for tackles in a season with 179. In just two seasons as a starter, Olson became Montana's all-time leader in tackles with 397 stops. He also added 11 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and four passes defended. - American Football Coaches Association

2019 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Inside Linebacker Dante Olson, Senior, Montana,...Olson, who started the year as the league's Preseason Defensive MVP, lived up to the hype in 2019 once again leading the FCS in total tackles. To get there, he posted double-digit tackles in eight of Montana's 12 games, including a season-high 18 stops against Montana State and Idaho State and a game-high 14 against the Oregon Ducks. Not only were his 151 tackles the best in the league and FCS, they are the second-most in all of D-I football to date after California's Evan Weaver, who currently leads the nation with 164 stops. Combined with his junior season total of 151, Olson now has 302 tackles in 23 games as a two-year starter (an average of 13.1 per game), bringing his career total to 369, just 25 shy of breaking Montana's all-time record of 393 set by Vince Huntsberger (1998-2001). - Montana Football
