  12/07/22 - LaDarius HendersonrSr/2024, Michigan, 6-4, 309 (DS#21 OT) + More +

Michigan has dipped into the NCAA transfer portal again to add a veteran offensive lineman to the 2023 roster. Arizona State's LaDarius Henderson announced Tuesday he is signing with the Wolverines a day after he entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. Entering this season, Michigan added Virginia graduate transfer Olu Oluwatimi, one of three finalists for the Rimington Award given to the nation's top center. Henderson, who has one year of eligibility, reportedly accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine game, suggesting he would leave college football to prepare for the NFL Draft.

He announced his decision to transfer to Michigan with a social media post that included a photo of him with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, co-offensive coordinators Matt Weiss and Sherrone Moore, who also coaches the offensive line, and tight ends coach Grant Newsome. "After much prayer and thought, I will be spending the last chapter of my college journey at The University of Michigan! GO BLUE!" wrote Henderson, who has not returned a request for comment. Henderson, who will turn 21 next week, was a three-star recruit from Waxahachie, Texas. He started 29 games during the last three seasons at Arizona State and was a captain this season. He missed the last six games after suffering a broken hand in October. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Henderson has played left tackle and left guard. - Detroit News

  12/06/22 - Mike SainristilrSr/2024, Michigan, 5-09, 182 (DS#7 CB) + More +

Michigan defensive back Mike Sainristil is returning for a fifth season. The 5-foot-10, 182-pounder announced his decision on Twitter late Sunday night - one day after the Wolverines beat Purdue to win their second straight Big Ten title. "I want to start off by thanking Coach Harbaugh and the University of Michigan for an amazing 4 years," Sainristil wrote. "The opportunity coach gave me when he offered was one that changed my life beyond football. My family and I can't thank you enough coach! The season is not over. In fact, it is just getting started. Just like my team here at the university. "With that being said, I will be back for my 5th year as a Wolverine and won't be entering my name in the 2023 NFL Draft after the season. Team 143, let's finish the mission and bring the big one home!"

Because the NCAA issues blanket waivers for all student-athletes in 2020, Sainristil has another year of eligibility despite never redshirting. The former three-star recruit from Massachusetts has been one of the biggest surprises in 2022, switching from receiver to nickelback - a vital position in Michigan's defense previously played by first-round pick Daxton Hill. Sainristil immediately earned a starting role in Michigan's defense and has 51 tackles (fourth on the team), seven pass breakups (second) and two sacks this season. He is a 2022 all-Big Ten honorable mention by coaches and media. - Ann Arbor News

  12/04/22 - Donovan EdwardsSr/2025, Michigan, 5-11, 205 (DS#24 RB) + More +

Donovan Edwards ran for 185 yards and a score, J.J. McCarthy threw three touchdown passes and No. 2 Michigan beat Purdue 43-22 on Saturday night for its second straight Big Ten title and a likely No. 2 playoff seed. College football's winningest program has the first 13-win season in school history. Two more victories would give the Wolverines (13-0, No. 2 CFP) their first national championship since 1997. And with injured star Blake Corum sidelined by a season-ending left knee injury, Edwards stole the show for the second straight week. After shredding rival Ohio State for 216 yards and two scores last week, Edwards broke open this game with a 60-yard on the first play of the second half to set up one score. He added a 27-yard TD sprint on Michigan's next series to make it 28-13.

Purdue (8-5) never recovered from Michigan's quick, seven-play onslaught after it trailed 14-13 at halftime. But quarterback Aidan O'Connell and receiver Charlie Jones helped the Boilermakers make it interesting for a while. O'Connell was 32 of 47 with 366 yards and two interceptions after missing some practice time early this week to mourn the death of his oldest brother. Jones, who lost to Michigan in last year's game while playing for Iowa, had 13 receptions for 162 yards. It just wasn't enough. Michigan showed no signs of a hangover after last week's rout over the Buckeyes, taking a 7-0 lead on its opening possession with a 25-yard TD pass from J.J. McCarthy to Colston Loveland. Purdue answered with Devin Mockobee's 1-yard scoring run to tie the score then took the lead on Mitchell Fineran's 33-yard field goal. Michigan answered by taking advantage of an offside call on fourth-and-6 by going for the first down, picking it up and eventually converting the drive into a 7-yard TD pass from McCarthy to Luke Schoonmaker. They never trailed again. - Michigan/AP College Football

  12/02/22 - Blake CorumSr/2024, Michigan, 5-08, 205 (DS#4 RB) + More +

Michigan star running back Blake Corum is expected to have surgery on his injured left knee that would cause him to miss the postseason, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Thursday night. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Michigan was not publicly disclosing Corum's condition. No. 2 Michigan (12-0) plays Purdue in the Big Ten championship game Saturday night in Indianapolis and is likely heading toward its second straight College Football Playoff appearance.

Corum was injured late in the first half of the Illinois game two weeks ago on a low tackle. He tried to play last week against rival Ohio State, but after appearing on Michigan's first possession he was done for the day. The junior was a Heisman Trophy contender before his injury. Corum ranks 10th in the nation in rushing at 122 yards per game and is tied for third with 19 touchdowns. Without Corum, Michigan turned to Donovan Edwards against Ohio State. The second-year running back ran for 216 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries against the Buckeyes and will play with an injured and heavily wrapped hand. Behind Edwards is freshman CJ Stokes, who has run for 273 yards on 55 carries. - AP College Football

  12/02/22 - Blake CorumSr/2024, Michigan, 5-08, 205 (DS#4 RB) + More +

According to a report from NFL.Com's Ian Rapaport, Michigan junior Blake Corum - the Big Ten Ameche-Dayne Running back of the Year - will undergo knee surgery, and is out for the season. Corum endured the injury late in the first half of Michigan's 19-17 win over Illinois. "Sources: Michigan star RB Blake Corum is expected to have knee surgery and is out for the season," Rapaport reported. "The Heisman candidate should make a full recovery. He tried to play last week vs. Ohio State but his knee made it impossible." Corum was Michigan's best offensive player, recently being named the Big Ten's Running Back of the Year.

Running for 1,463 yards, 18 rushing touchdowns and averaging 5.92 yards per carry. Speaking on Big Ten Network, Corum discussed his injury, but did not indicate a surgery was imminent. "You know, I'm just taking it day by day, but you know, we shall see," Corum said. "But with me, without me, I believe in my team. As you could see, they did the job last week. And so, you know, take it day by day. But basically, my team will get the job done. This type of team, we have that many great athletes and coaches. So take it day by day, we shall see." Previously, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said that there was no "structural" issue with Corum's knee, which became injured on a collision that also led to Corum's only fumble of the season. - NFL.com and NFL Draft Scout sources
