  Thomas Gotkowski threw three touchdown passes, Braylon Isom caught two of them, and Miami (Ohio) beat Ball State 45-24 in a regular-season finale to clinch a trip to the Mid-American championship game for the third consecutive season. Gotkowski found Isom for a 23-yard score at the 9:07 mark of the first quarter, and a 10-yard strike less than three minutes later. The RedHawks never trailed, and led from that point on. It's the fifth consecutive win for the RedHawks over the Cardinals.

The RedHawks finished the regular season 7-5 and 6-2 in the Mid-American Conference, and will face Western Michigan (8-4, 7-1) in the MAC title game, despite Ohio and Toledo also holding 6-2 conference records. Miami owns a tiebreaker between common opponents. Gotkowski's long came on a 55-yard touchdown to Kam Perry. He was 12-of-24 passing for 226 yards, with 44 yards on the ground. Jordan Brunson (54 rushing yards) and D'Shawntae Jones (47 rushing yards) both had rushing touchdowns, and led a RedHawks offense that combined for 234 rushing yards. Kiael Kelly was 14 of 23 for 177 yards with a pair of passing touchdowns for the Cardinals (4-8, 3-5). He added a game-high 61 yards on 11 attempts. The Cardinals allowed six sacks, and allowed a score on a fumble recovery return by Jermaine Agee with 2:11 left in the game.   2025 CAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Monmouth sophomore running back Rodney Nelson led the CAA and ranked second in FCS in rushing, piling up 1,802 yards and 18 touchdowns for one of the nation's most prolific offenses. The sophomore ran for 100 or more yards in nine of his 12 games and topped the 200-yard mark three times. He added 30 receptions for 229 yards and a TD to lead the country in all-purpose yardage (2,031). Nelson's 1,802 rushing yards are the second-most in Monmouth history and ranks as the fifth-highest total ever in the CAA. - CAA Football

The 6th-year senior knocked in all three field goal attempts and added four extra points as the RedHawks became bowl eligible for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons.   Thomas Gotkowski and D'Shawntae Jones each accounted for two touchdowns, and Jordan Brunson rushed for 123 yards in a 37-20 win for Miami (Ohio) over Buffalo on Wednesday night. Gotkowski found Kam Perry for a 32-yard touchdown, then rushed for a 3-yard score in the second quarter. A 42-yard field goal from Dom Dzioban made it 17 straight points for the Redhawks (6-5, 5-2 Mid-American). The Bulls (5-6, 4-3) responded with 17 straight points of their own. Ta'Quan Roberson threw a pair of touchdowns to Victor Snow and Jasaiah Gathings, and Jack Howes kicked a 42-yard field goal to make it 20-17 at the 6:50 mark of the third. Roberson was 24 of 48 for 303 yards and two interceptions.

The RedHawks returned the favor and pulled away starting on the following drive. Jones rushed for 7- and 1-yard touchdowns, and Dzioban made kicks from 37 and 49 yards to make it 20 unanswered points. Gotkowski, a redshirt freshman, entered the season as the third-string quarterback and had not attempted a pass prior to Wednesday. He was 13-of-23 passing for 185 yards, with 26 on the ground, taking the starting job from Henry Hesson. Hesson started against Toledo last Wednesday after Dequan Finn left the program. Hesson was 11-of-38 passing with three interceptions in that 24-3 loss. The win keeps the RedHawks alive in the race for the conference championships, along with three other two-loss teams that all trail Western Michigan (7-4, 6-1).   Rodney Nelson set career highs with 233 yards rushing and four touchdowns, Israel Clark-White had a key interception late, and Monmouth beat Hampton 28-10 on Saturday for its fifth straight win. Nelson scored on 5- and 3-yard runs to cap long scoring drives between the first and second quarters, and his 1-yard TD run ended another long drive for Monmouth to stretch its lead to 21-10 with 9:36 left in the fourth.

On the ensuing series, Braden Davis lead Hampton near midfield before Clark-White's pick ended the drive. The FCS ninth-ranked Hawks (7-1, 4-0 Coastal Athletic Association) then chewed up more than five minutes before Nelson scored his last TD from 6-yards out. Monmouth was without Derek Robertson, who has 2,439 yards passing and 27 touchdowns on the season, due to an injury. Backup Frankie Weaver was 14 of 25 for 122 yards with an interception in his collegiate debut as a starter.   Dequan Finn threw for a touchdown and ran for another in the fourth quarter and Miami (Ohio) rallied for a 26-17 victory Saturday to take sole possession of first place in the Mid-American Conference. Trailing 17-9, Finn threw a 3-yard TD pass to Brian Shane early in the final quarter. Six minutes later he completed a 50-yard pass to Kam Perry down to the Western Michigan 18-yard line, setting up his own touchdown run on the next play for the lead.

Adam Trick's strip-sack ended the Broncos' ensuing possession and Dom Dzioban provided a cushion with a 51-yard field goal. Dzioban made all four of his attempts. Both the RedHawks (5-3, 4-0) and the Broncos (4-4, 3-1) came in on four-game win streaks. Miami has won 11 straight regular-season MAC games. Finn was 18-of-30 passing for 260 yards and ran for 52 more. Jordan Brunson rushed for 90 yards on 13 carries. Perry had 98 yards receiving and Weaver 96.   Dequan Finn threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, Jordan Brunson rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown, and Miami (Ohio) beat Eastern Michigan 44-30 on Saturday for its fourth straight victory. Miami took advantage of good field position in the second half with two touchdown drives to build a 35-14 lead. An Eli Blakey interception set up Miami at its own 38 and the RedHawks scored six plays later on Finn's keeper. Miami's next possession began at the 45-yard line after a 15-yard punt return. After Eastern cut it to 37-22 with 9:07 to play, the RedHawks used nine consecutive rushing plays to take a three-score lead.

Finn was 13 of 22 for 159 yards passing, and he carried it 10 times for 58 yards. D'Shawntae Jones added 66 yards rushing and a score as Miami (4-3, 3-0 Mid-American Conference) totaled 295 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Noah Kim threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns for Eastern Michigan (2-6, 1-3, but he was intercepted two times.   Dequan Finn threw for 203 yards and a touchdown and Miami of Ohio used the second half to pull away from Akron for a 20-7 win on Saturday. Dom Dzioban’s 41-yard field with 1:33 before halftime served as the game’s first points and Miami (3-3, 2-0 MAC) led 3-0 halftime. With 10:35 left in the third quarter, D’Shawntae Jones crashed in from the 1 to end a nine-play, 75-yard drive to make it 10-0. After the RedHawks’ defense held Akron to minus-6 yards on the next drive, Finn threw a 60-yard scoring pass to Kam Perry with 7:57 left in the third.

Akron (2-5, 1-2) dodged the shutout when Ben Finley completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Israel Polk to make it 20-7. Finley threw for 211 yards. Miami leads the all-time series 24-9-1 and has won eight-straight games in the series overall. The RedHawks are 11-6 against the Zips in Akron.   Dequan Finn threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a 39-yard score to lift Baylor to a season-opening 45-3 win over FCS Tarleton State on Saturday. Finn made his mark immediately with a 39-yard touchdown run on the Bears' first drive and added a 32-yard scoring pass to Ashtyn Hawkins later in the first quarter. Finn, a sixth-year senior transfer from Toledo who was named MAC Player of the Year last season, also found Michael Trigg for a 17-yard TD strike in the third quarter.

Finn finished 14-for-22 passing and was picked off twice. Keaton Thomas added to Baylor's fast start when he intercepted a Jaden Pete pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown to make it a 21-0 lead with 4:12 left in the first quarter. Dawson Pendergrass ran for a 1-yard TD, and Sawyer Robertson fired a 30-yard touchdown to Ketron Jackson Jr. in the fourth quarter for the Bears, who outgained the Texans (1-1) 442-181.
