  09/13/25 - Malik WashingtonFr/2029, Maryland, 6-4, 231 (DS#3 QB) + More +

Malik Washington threw for a touchdown and ran for one, and La'khi Roland returned an interception 100 yards for a TD as Maryland routed Towson 44-17 on Saturday. The Terrapins won their 18th consecutive nonconference game, the longest active streak in the FBS. Their Big Ten slate begins next weekend. This matchup against an FCS opponent - the alma mater of Maryland coach Michael Locksley - was lopsided from the start. Roland's interception return made it 41-0 early in the third quarter. It was the first 100-yard interception return for Maryland since Tom Brown pulled off the feat in 1962 against Virginia.

DeJuan Williams scored on a 2-yard run in the first to give the Terps a 10-0 lead, then Washington reached the end zone from 2-yards out later in the quarter. A 32-yard scoring pass from Washington to Shaleak Knotts made it 24-0. Nolan Ray added a rushing TD before the first half was over, and it was 34-0 after two quarters. Washington went 16 of 22 for 261 yards with an interception. He has thrown for 773 yards through his first three college games, the most by a power conference true freshman since Alan Bowman of Texas Tech had 1,160 in 2018. Nathan Kent threw an 84-yard touchdown to Jaceon Doss in the fourth quarter for Towson. - Maryland/AP College Football

  09/05/25 - Malik WashingtonFr/2029, Maryland, 6-4, 231 (DS#3 QB) + More +

Malik Washington threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Shaleak Knotts on fourth down, and Maryland held off Northern Illinois 20-9 on Friday night. The Terrapins (2-0) extended their winning streak against nonconference opponents to 17, the nation's longest active run. Washington threw for 254 yards and two touchowns in the freshman's second college game. The Huskies (1-1) couldn't pull off a repeat of Week 2 last year, when they shocked Notre Dame in what was the lone regular-season loss for the Irish. Telly Johnson scored on a 74-yard run in the third, but Northern Illinois offered little on offense besides that.

Maryland led 13-9 late in the third and had the ball inside the Northern Illinois 10 before Washington lost a fumble. The Terrapins forced the Huskies to punt from their own 1, but Maryland failed to do anything with great field position and punted back. On their next possession, the Terps faced fourth-and-5 from the 42, and Washington threw deep to Knotts, who slipped behind safety Jasper Beeler, caught the ball and strolled into the end zone. Washington also threw a 12-yard TD pass to Dorian Fleming in the second quarter. - Maryland/AP College Football

  08/30/25 - Malik WashingtonFr/2029, Maryland, 6-4, 231 (DS#3 QB) + More +

Freshman Malik Washington threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter, and Maryland's defense scored twice to help the Terripans beat Florida Atlantic 39-7 on Saturday for their 16th consecutive nonconference victory. A four-star recruit from nearby Glen Burnie, Washington arrived at Maryland amid high expectations, and the Terps went ahead and started him in the opener. He was 3 of 11 early before settling in impressively. Washington finished 27 of 43 for 258 yards and three TDs and was able to take the fourth quarter off.

Maryland's defense committed five penalties on the very first drive, but the Terps stopped FAU on fourth down inside the 5-yard line. They later opened the scoring when Zahir Mathis hit Caden Veltkamp as he threw, and Daniel Wingate picked off the pass and ran it back 20 yards for a touchdown. Veltkamp rebounded with a 27-yard scoring strike to Asaad Waseem, but he threw an interception in the second quarter and took a sack in the end zone by Sidney Stewart that made it 12-7. Washington found an open Shaleak Knotts for a 29-yard TD, and Terps began to roll after that. A 29-yard scoring pass to Kaleb Webb made it 26-7, and Washington connected with Dorian Fleming for a 9-yard touchdown before the half was over. - Maryland/AP College Football

  08/31/24 - Tai FeltonSr/2025, Maryland, 6-1, 183 (DS#14 WR) + More +

Billy Edwards Jr. threw two touchdown passes to Tai Felton, and Maryland's defense was as good as advertised in a 50-7 victory over UConn in a season opener on Saturday. The big question facing the Terrapins this season is how they'll do without Taulia Tagovailoa, who brought them some rare stability at quarterback for the last four years. Edwards, who guided Maryland to a win over Auburn in the Music City Bowl last season, started the game and completed his first seven passes. He went 20 of 27 for 311 yards and two TDs. Felton caught seven passes for 178 yards, scoring on strikes of 18 and 75 yards from Edwards.

NC State transfer MJ Morris also played a bit at quarterback, although he was shaken up in the fourth quarter. Then Cameron Edge came on and threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Josiah McLaurin. Nolan Ray scored on a 48-yard touchdown run in the first quarter that made it 14-0, and Roman Hemby scored from 4 yards out in the third. DeJuan Williams capped the scoring with a 9-yard run with 1:17 remaining in the game. The Terps' defense has steadily improved over the past few years, and UConn didn't score until it was 30-0 late in the third quarter. Joe Fagnano found TJ Sheffield for a 27-yard touchdown. - AP College Football
