Louisiana-Monroe head football coach Matt Viator has signed a two-year contract extension through the 2022 season, according to an announcement made Thursday by athletic director Scott McDonald. Viator's contract extension was approved by the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System earlier Thursday. All other components of the contract remain the same. Per USA TODAY, Viator receives $390,000 in base salary with the potential to earn $50,000 in bonuses. His buyout is $175,000.   Straughter pushed himself like never before during the 2019 offseason and it showed on the field. The homegrown star cornerback intercepted five passes, which tied for the Sun Belt lead and eighth in FBS, during an All-American junior year - the first on defense for ULM head coach Matt Viator: "There were times I thought we had the facility locked up, but Corey found a way to get in. I'm just proud of how hard he's worked." Pressed into duty from the day he arrived on campus, Straughter played both corner positions before finding a home at the field corner. His ball skills were apparent on the wide side of the field and he led the conference with 15 passes defended. Straughter made interceptions in three consecutive games, which included a pick-six at Florida State, and iced a win at Texas State with a late-game takeaway. - The News-Star
