CAA Football announced its 2019 post-season award winners on Tuesday, headlined by James Madison senior quarterback Ben DiNucci being selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Year and JMU senior defensive end Ron'Dell Carter being chosen as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Other major award recipients included UAlbany's Greg Gattuso as CAA Coach of the Year, Maine senior kick returner/wide receiver Earnest Edwards as Special Teams Player of the Year, UAlbany redshirt freshman quarterback Jeff Undercuffler as Offensive Rookie of the Year and Richmond freshman linebacker Tristan Wheeler as Defensive Rookie of the Year. James Madison earned the No. 2 overall seed for the 2019 NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, as the selection committee revealed the 24-team field during the live selection show on Sunday afternoon on ESPNU. JMU (11-1, 8-0 CAA) will face the winner of an opening-round matchup between Monmouth (10-2) and Holy Cross (7-5) in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium/Zane Showker Field. JMU has never played either team.

The Dukes wrapped up the regular season with their third outright Colonial Athletic Association title in four years and fourth overall championship in five years. The Dukes wrapped up the regular season winning their 11th straight with a 55-21 victory at Rhode Island to cap off their fourth perfect CAA season in school history. JMU is making its program-record sixth straight playoff appearance and the 16th in school history. Ben DiNucci threw two touchdown passes, Jawon Hamilton and Percy Agyei-Obese combined to rush for 248 yards and three TDs and James Madison closed out the regular season with a 55-21 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday. DiNucci completed 8 of 9 passes for 129 yards with scoring strikes of 1 yard to Riley Stapleton and 39 yards to Brandon Polk. Hamilton ran for 143 yards and a score on just nine carries, while Agyei-Obese added 105 yards and two scores on 22 carries. The Dukes (11-1, 8-0 Colonial Athletic Association), ranked No. 2 in the STATS FCS Top 25, had already wrapped up their fourth CAA championship in the past five seasons.

James Madison beat the Rams (2-10, 0-8) for a 10th straight time, including seven in a row by 17 points or more. The Dukes held Rhode Island to minus-6 yards rushing, marking the sixth straight time they have held an opponent under 100 yards. The Dukes piled up 390 yards on the ground, outrushing an opponent for the 16th straight time. James Madison has a rushing TD in 17 straight games. Ethan Ratke's 42-yard field goal and DiNucci's TD toss to Stapleton staked JMU to a 10-0 first-quarter lead. D'Angelo Amos returned a punt 85 yards for a score, Agyei-Obese had a 4-yard TD run and Hamilton ran 44 yards for a score to put the Dukes up 31-0 at halftime. Ben DiNucci threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to help James Madison beat Richmond 48-6 on Saturday night for the Dukes' third outright Colonial Athletic Association title in four years. James Madison (10-1, 7-0), No. 2 in the STATS FCS Top 25, moved up to the nation's second-longest active winning streak (10) by beating Richmond for the fourth straight time. The Dukes will make their sixth straight appearance in the FCS playoffs.

DiNucci was 11 of 13 for 179 yards and carried it 10 times for 39 more. Brandon Polk opened the scoring with an 80-yard catch-and-run and Percy Agyei-Obese capped a 17-point burst with a 3-yard score before Richmond got on the board midway through the second quarter. Agyei-Obese and Eric Kirlew also rushed for a touchdown for James Madison. Ethan Ratke made two field goals to break his own school record with 18 on the season.
