  2019 ALL-COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Ethan Ratke, James Madison, PK, Jr., Mechanicsville, Va.,..Ratke has another year to play but has already established himself as JMU's top placekicker and one of the best in league history. This season, he's converted a JMU single-season record 20 field goals on 24 attempts. He's also JMU's career leader, with 51 made, which is tied for fourth all-time in CAA history. In the regular-season finale, he became JMU's all-time scoring leader (282) and leads the CAA and ranks fifth in the country this year in that category (123, 10.2 avg.). He ranks tied for fifth in the CAA in receiving touchdowns, sixth in receiving yards and eighth in receptions. Polk was also seventh with 17.8 yards per catch.   2019 CAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Ben DiNucci, James Madison,...DiNucci leads the nation in completion percentage (70.3%), connecting on 187-of-266 passes for 2,552 yards. He's thrown 22 touchdown passes with just four interceptions and ranks 3rd nationally in pass efficiency. DiNucci passed for over 200 yards eight times and had eight games with multiple TD passes. He also contributed with his legs, rushing for 426 yards and four TD's. DiNucci's play has helped JMU average 42.3 points per game this season, which ranks second in FCS.   2019 CAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Ron'Dell Carter, James Madison,...Carter caused havoc from his defensive end spot, ranking second in FCS with 22.5 tackles for loss. He recorded at least 2.0 TFL's in seven of the Dukes' 12 games. The senior is also third in the CAA and 16th nationally with 9.5 sacks and has 10 quarterback hurries. Carter ranks third on the team with 53 total tackles and has one forced fumble. A finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in FCS, Carter has helped JMU lead the nation in rushing defense (62.8 ypg), which ranking third in scoring defense (15.7 ppg) and fourth in total defense (276.6 ypg).   CAA Football announced its 2019 post-season award winners on Tuesday, headlined by James Madison senior quarterback Ben DiNucci being selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Year and JMU senior defensive end Ron'Dell Carter being chosen as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Other major award recipients included UAlbany's Greg Gattuso as CAA Coach of the Year, Maine senior kick returner/wide receiver Earnest Edwards as Special Teams Player of the Year, UAlbany redshirt freshman quarterback Jeff Undercuffler as Offensive Rookie of the Year and Richmond freshman linebacker Tristan Wheeler as Defensive Rookie of the Year.   James Madison earned the No. 2 overall seed for the 2019 NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, as the selection committee revealed the 24-team field during the live selection show on Sunday afternoon on ESPNU. JMU (11-1, 8-0 CAA) will face the winner of an opening-round matchup between Monmouth (10-2) and Holy Cross (7-5) in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium/Zane Showker Field. JMU has never played either team.

The Dukes wrapped up the regular season with their third outright Colonial Athletic Association title in four years and fourth overall championship in five years. The Dukes wrapped up the regular season winning their 11th straight with a 55-21 victory at Rhode Island to cap off their fourth perfect CAA season in school history. JMU is making its program-record sixth straight playoff appearance and the 16th in school history.   Ben DiNucci threw two touchdown passes, Jawon Hamilton and Percy Agyei-Obese combined to rush for 248 yards and three TDs and James Madison closed out the regular season with a 55-21 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday. DiNucci completed 8 of 9 passes for 129 yards with scoring strikes of 1 yard to Riley Stapleton and 39 yards to Brandon Polk. Hamilton ran for 143 yards and a score on just nine carries, while Agyei-Obese added 105 yards and two scores on 22 carries. The Dukes (11-1, 8-0 Colonial Athletic Association), ranked No. 2 in the STATS FCS Top 25, had already wrapped up their fourth CAA championship in the past five seasons.

James Madison beat the Rams (2-10, 0-8) for a 10th straight time, including seven in a row by 17 points or more. The Dukes held Rhode Island to minus-6 yards rushing, marking the sixth straight time they have held an opponent under 100 yards. The Dukes piled up 390 yards on the ground, outrushing an opponent for the 16th straight time. James Madison has a rushing TD in 17 straight games. Ethan Ratke's 42-yard field goal and DiNucci's TD toss to Stapleton staked JMU to a 10-0 first-quarter lead. D'Angelo Amos returned a punt 85 yards for a score, Agyei-Obese had a 4-yard TD run and Hamilton ran 44 yards for a score to put the Dukes up 31-0 at halftime.
