  2025 CUSA MVP AND NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Cam Cook, Jax State,...Jacksonville State running back Cam Cook claims MVP and Newcomer of the Year honors, becoming the second-straight Gamecock to earn both awards (Tyler Huff). FIU running back Kejon Owens is the Offensive Player of the Year, while Kennesaw State's Baron Hopson and LA Tech's Jacob Fields share co-Defensive Player of the Year recognition. WKU's Cole Maynard and Rodney Tisdale Jr. are crowned CUSA's Special Teams Player and Freshman of the Year, respectively. Kennesaw State head coach Jerry Mack is tabbed the league's Coach of the Year.

The FBS leader in rushing (131.8) and all-purpose yardage (153.67), Cook rushed for 1,581 yards and 15 touchdowns on 276 carries, while hauling in 26 passes for 263 yards. He rushed for at least 100 yards and a touchdown and had a reception in every Conference USA game this season. Cook rushed for a season-best 218 yards and two touchdowns at Sam Houston and had 195 yards and two touchdowns in his CUSA debut against Liberty. Cook finished the regular season as the only player in FBS with 1,500 rushing yards and 20 receptions this season.   Garrison Rippa kicked a 28-yard field goal as time expired to send Jacksonville State to the Conference USA championship game with a 37-34 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday. The Gamecocks (8-4, 7-1) will host Kennesaw State in the championship game on Friday. Caden Creel led the Gamecocks from the JSU 39 to the WKU 11 over the final 4:18 to set up the winning kick. Creel completed 12 of 19 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns and had 143 rushing yards including a score. Cam Cook added 137 yards rushing and a TD. Cook entered the game with the second-most rushing yards in the FBS with 1,444.

Cook scored the first touchdown for Jacksonville, a 14-yard rush in the first quarter. Western Kentucky (8-4, 6-2) responded with three straight scores to go up 21-7 early in the second quarter. A kick from Rippa and a 2-yard reception by Pearson Baldwin made it 21-17. Both teams scored another touchdown before halftime. Creel rushed for a 70-yard score in the third quarter to take the lead for the Gamecocks. Rodney Tisdale Jr. completed 17 of 24 passes for 180 yards for Western Kentucky.   WEEK 12 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caleb Nix, Jacksonville State - Jr. - S - Phenix City, Ala.,...Nix becomes the first CUSA player to repeat as Defensive Player of the Week after he recorded a pair of interceptions for Jax State (7-3, 6-0 CUSA) in their 35-26 win over Kennesaw State in a battle of teams that started the day at 5-0 in Conference USA. His first came in the second quarter with the Owls threatening as Nix intercepted a pass at his own 10-yard line and returned it 26 yards. It marked the fourth consecutive game with a takeaway for the redshirt junior and third consecutive game with an interception.   WEEK 11 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caleb Nix, Jax State - Jr. - S - Phenix City, Ala.,...Nix recorded his second defensive touchdown of the season, returning an interception 93 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to give Jax State (6-3, 5-0 CUSA) a 10-point lead during a 30-27 win at UTEP. It marked the second-longest pick six in program history and the first of 70 or more yards by a Gamecock since 2017. He also helped out on a tackle for loss and made five total stops on the day.   Quarterback Caden Creel and Cam Cook combined to rush for 252 yards and three touchdowns, powering Jacksonville State to a 35-26 victory over Kennesaw State on Saturday night in a Conference USA showdown. The Gamecocks (7-3, 6-0) have used a five-game win streak to move a game ahead of the field. The Owls (7-3, 5-1) fall a half-game behind second-place Western Kentucky. Amari Odom scored on a 1-yard run at the end of a 14-play drive and Kennesaw State jumped in front. Creel answered with an 18-yard touchdown run to tie it 7-all after one quarter.

Daniel Kinney's 43-yard field goal gave the Owls a 10-7 lead with 4:33 left before halftime. Cook scored on a 6-yard run less than two minutes later and Gavin Wimsatt fired a 62-yard scoring strike to Deondre Johnson with 4 seconds left on his only pass to put the Gamecocks up 22-10. Garrison Rippa stretched the lead to 15 with a 32-yard field goal midway through the third quarter and Creel scored on a 15-yard run for a 32-13 advantage with 10:30 left in the game. Backup quarterback Dexter Williams II connected with Clayton Coppock for a 10-yard touchdown before scoring on a 9-yard run at 3:22 to cut the Owls' deficit to 32-26. Jacksonville State ran all but 20 seconds off the clock before Rippa kicked a short field goal. Creel completed 8 of 13 passes for 137 yards and rushed 14 times for 127 more. Cook carried 27 times for 132 yards. Johnson totaled 112 yards on two catches. Odom and Williams combined to complete 27 of 44 passes for 362 yards.   Caden Creel and Cam Cook combined for 259 rushing yards and were involved in late scores for Jacksonville State in a 30-27 win over UTEP on Saturday. Creel's 31-yard scramble on a six-play, 46-yard drive set up Garrison Rippa's 45-yard, game-winning field goal with 53 seconds remaining. Creel had 134 rushing yards on 13 attempts, and was 15-of-31 passing for 181 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. He found Deondre Johnson for a 77-yard touchdown strike on the Gamecocks' opening drive.

Cook had 127 yards on 19 carries, scoring his lone touchdown to take the lead for the Gamecocks (6-3, 5-0 Conference USA) with 10:01 left in the fourth quarter. Skyler Locklear accounted for four touchdowns for the Miners (2-7, 1-4), and one for the Gamecocks, on a 93-yard pick-six by Caleb Nix in the second quarter. Locklear was 16-of-32 passing for 244 yards and two touchdowns, with 82 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.   Cam Cook scored a go-ahead touchdown with 4:29 left and then the Jacksonville State defense ended two drives to secure a 24-21 victory over Middle Tennessee on Wednesday night. Jacksonville State (5-3, 4-0 Conference USA) is tied atop the league standings with Kennesaw State (6-2, 4-0) after a third straight victory. Jacksonville State scored on its opening three possessions of the fourth quarter. Garrison Rippa made a 47-yard field goal and Deondre Johnson scored on a 30-yard touchdown grab after the replay showed his left foot was down in the end zone.

Middle Tennessee was unable to get past midfield on its final two drives. Cook finished with 21 carries for 105 yards for Jacksonville State. Caden Creel was 13 of 19 for 139 yards with one touchdown. Johnson, who entered with five catches for 74 yards on the season, had four catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Middle Tennessee (1-7, 0-4) has lost six straight games. Nicholas Vattiato threw for 235 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for MTSU.   WEEK 8 CONFERENCE USA FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Mac Sanders, Jax State – Fr. – LB – McDonough, Ga.,...Sanders paced the Gamecocks in tackles for the second time in his career and posted his second double-digit tackle performance of his career with 10, including five solo stops. With 10:37 left in the second quarter, Sanders forced a fumble that was scooped up by Caleb Nix, who raced 45 yards to pay dirt to give Jax State a 14-0 lead.   Cam Cook rushed for 117 yards and three touchdown, Caden Creel threw for 116 yards and a touchdown, and Jacksonville State beat Delaware 38-25 on Wednesday night. Jacksonville State (4-3, 3-0 Conference USA) has won nine straight at AmFirst Stadium. Jacksonville State scored the opening 21 points and extended it to 35-6 after Cook's two short touchdown runs in the third quarter. Garrison Rippa made a 52-yard field goal with 11:57 left in the fourth for a 38-12 lead.

Creel also carried it 12 times for 57 yards for Jacksonville State. Brock Rechsteiner had three catches for 48 yards and a score. Caleb Nix scored for the defense on a 45-yard fumble return. Nick Minicucci was 32 of 50 for 422 yards and a touchdown for Delaware (3-3, 1-2). Viron Ellison Jr. had three short touchdown runs. He becomes the first CUSA player to rush for over 200 yards in a game this season and in the process, enters the weekend as FBS's leading rusher with 832. Cook, the FBS leader in rushes of 10+ yards (31), busted off eight double-digit runs, including a season-long 73-yard rumble in the opening quarter.
