  NOV 14 MISSOURI VALLEY PLATER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: QB Evan Olaes, Indiana State - Olaes made the most of his first collegiate start as the redshirt freshman was an efficient 16-of-24 for 187 yards and a touchdown in leading the Sycamores to a 21-0 win. Olaes connected with seven different receivers in the game while adding a 10-yard touchdown pass to Dante Hendrix on a late two-minute drill just before the halftime break.   NOV 14 MISSOURI VALLEY PLATER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: DL Gianini Belizaire, Indiana State - Belizaire and the Sycamore defense bottled up the Western Illinois offense on Saturday afternoon as Indiana State posted its first shutout since the 2018 season opener. Belizaire finished the game with four tackles, including 2.5 tackles-for-loss and a career-high 1.5 sacks, while adding a forced fumble. The Gonaives, Haiti native was dominant when needed including setting up a 3rd-and-20 in ISU territory to push WIU out of field goal range, while his first half-sack forced a WIU punt.   Freshman Evan Olaes threw a touchdown pass, Justin Dinka and Tee Hodge ran for scores and Indiana State blanked winless Western Illinois 21-0 on Saturday. Dinka's 7-yard touchdown run came with 2:50 left in the second quarter and Indiana State (2-8, 1-6 Missouri Valley Football Conference) led 6-0 after a failed extra-point kick. The Sycamores scored again before halftime on Olaes' 10-yard touchdown toss to Dante Hendrix. Olaes connected with Dakota Caton for the 2-point conversion and Indiana State took a 14-0 lead into the locker room.

The final score of the game came at the 4:51 mark of the third quarter when Hodge raced 39 yards to the end zone. Olaes completed 16 of 24 passes for 187 yards for Indiana State. Dinka finished with 97 yards on 22 carries. Hodge rushed 17 times for 81 yards. Clay Bruno completed 16 of 28 passes for 193 yards with two interceptions for Western Illinois (0-10, 0-7). The Leathernecks rushed for 9 yards on 21 carries and were successful on only 2 of 11 third-down plays.   OCT 24 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: WR Dante Hendrix, Indiana State - Hendrix continues to produce as the redshirt senior posted his third consecutive 100-yard receiving effort of the 2022 season in leading the Sycamores on Saturday against Illinois State. Hendrix hauled in five passes for 107 yards and added his team-leading third receiving touchdown of the season against the Redbirds. Hendrix was active early and often, while his 67-yard reception for a score in the fourth quarter helped pull the Sycamores back within one possession of Illinois State.   OCT 24 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: DB Maddix Blackwell, Indiana State - Blackwell posted his first collegiate interception with a nifty one-handed grab down the right sideline and added five solo tackles and a key tackle for loss in the Sycamores' Homecoming game against Illinois State. The nickelback trailed the Illinois State tight end down the field and went up with one hand to tip the ball to himself and returned it 11 yards to set up Indiana State's first scoring drive of the day.   OCT 24 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: LB Geoffrey Brown, Indiana State - Brown posted another double-digit tackling effort on Saturday afternoon as the sophomore linebacker posted a team-high 12 stops and added 0.5 tackles for loss against the Redbirds. He was active early with five tackles in the first quarter and had six total tackles at the halftime break. Brown was key during an Illinois State drive that ended in a blocked field goal with five total tackles on the possession. He added his lone half-tackle-for-loss on a three-and-out possession late in the fourth quarter.   OCT 17 MISSOURI VALLEY NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: QB Cade Chambers, Indiana State, 6-4, 215, R-Fr., Maryville, Tenn. (Maryville),...Chambers recorded five total TDs in the Sycamores' shootout loss at Youngstown State. The redshirt freshman went 15-of-29 through the air for a career-high 311 yards with a trio of touchdown passes, while adding two more on the ground in the 48-42 loss. Chambers connected on a 53-yard pass to Dakota Caton in the first quarter to tie the game up at 14-14. His two-yard TD run at the start of the second quarter added to the Sycamore lead, while his 12-yard toss just before the halftime break cut the deficit down to 28-21. With the Sycamores trailing 45-28 late in the third quarter, Chambers connected on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Justin Dinka to cut the lead down to 45-35. Following a successful onside kick, Chambers called his own number for an 11-yard option keeper to cut the deficit down to 45-42. His 300-yard game marked ISU's first 300-yard passing game since the 2018 season as the Sycamores rolled to a season-best 498 total offensive yards. - Missouri Valley Football

  SEPT 5 MISSOURI VALLEY CO-SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: PK Ryan O'Grady, Indiana State, 6-1, 180, Fr. (Lockport, Ill.),...O'Grady was clutch in his first career collegiate game as the freshman placekicker went a perfect 3-for-3 on his field goal attempts in Indiana State's 17-14 win. He had joined the team midway through the preseason training camp and impressed the ISU coaching staff with his ability to connect in the clutch. It showed on Thursday night at Memorial Stadium as he knocked in field goals from 22 and 26 yards in regulation, while his 25-yard attempt went down the middle in overtime to secure the 17-14 win. Hendrix hauled in seven passes for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Sycamores' loss to NDSU. His 14-yard grab in the second quarter put the Sycamores ahead 6-0, while his one-yard grab in the fourth quarter pulled ISU back within 31-26 with two minutes to play. The Florence, Ky. native had a pair of circus catches in the game, including a key 36-yard grab down the right sideline in the first half that led to an ISU touchdown, while his 34-yard reception in fourth quarter led to ISU's final touchdown. The Maryville, Tenn. native went 12-for-26 through the air for 162 yards and two touchdown passes, while adding a third touchdown on the ground in the Sycamores' 31-26 loss. Chambers completed four consecutive passes in the Sycamores' first touchdown drive of the game, including a 14-yard score to Dante Hendrix over the middle.   OCT 9 MISSOURI VALLEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: S Rylan Cole, Indiana State, 6-0, 205, So. (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon),...Cole posted one of the top defensive games in Indiana State history on Saturday afternoon as the sophomore safety was all over the field against NDSU. The McCordsville, Ind. native posted 19 tackles (nine solo, 10 assisted) in posting the most tackles by a Sycamore defender since former Sycamore Katrell Moss recorded 19 stops in the 2018 season. Cole's 19 tackles are the most by a player in the MVFC and tied for third-best in the FCS this season. He added a forced fumble midway through the first quarter that ended a NDSU scoring drive inside the Sycamore 10-yard line.   OCT 3 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: LB Geoffrey Brown, Indiana State - Geoffrey Brown was all over the field on Saturday afternoon against Northern Iowa as the sophomore linebacker posted his second double-digit tackling effort of the 2022 season. The Fishers, Ind. native paced the Sycamores with a team-high 10 stops on the day, but made his presence felt early in the second quarter with sacks on consecutive plays that moved UNI from a 1st-and-10 at the ISU 27 to a 3rd-and-31 at the ISU 48. The pressure on the ensuing play led to a Rylan Cole interception that swung the first half momentum to ISU.   Rylan Cole had two interceptions and a key tackle for loss and Indiana State defeated North Alabama 17-14 in overtime in a season-opener on Thursday night. After Indiana State's Ryan O'Grady kicked a 25-yard field goal in overtime, North Alabama drove to the Indiana State 7-yard line. On second down, Cole's big tackle backed up the Lions 26 yards. Noah Walters threw incomplete on third down, then Cole intercepted a desperation pass inside the 10 to end the game.

Walters, one of three quarterbacks used by the Lions, drove UNA 53 yards in six plays to a final-minute touchdown. His 10-yard pass to Corson Swan plus a two-point conversion tied the score at 14 with 48 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Indiana State had eight sacks in regulation. Indiana State wore all-white uniforms with white helmets to honor three students who were killed in an auto accident on Aug. 21. The crash took the lives of football players Caleb VanHooser and Christian Eubanks and fellow-student Jayden Musili. After completing four years of transition from Division II, North Alabama was playing its first game as a full Division I FCS member. The redshirt senior previously received First Team recognition (2020) and Honorable Mention (2021) honors over his Sycamore career. The Florence, Ky. native was on the 2021 MVFC Postseason Honorable Mention squad after bouncing back from an early season injury that saw the wideout miss five games in the regular season. He made an immediate impact in the lineup upon his returning posting 37 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns over the final five games of the season with a pair of 10-catch contests coming against Missouri State and Southern Illinois.
