  2022 ALL-SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: QB Lindsey Scott, Jr., UIW, Gr.,...Walter Payton Award Finalist, Scott, led both the Southland Conference and FCS in almost every statistical category. He completed 240 of 328 passes (73%) for 3,791 yards (2nd in the nation) with 50 touchdowns (1st in the nation) and only four interceptions giving him the best passing efficiency in all of Division I football. Scott finished two games with seven touchdowns and six games with five-plus touchdowns. He not only got it done through the air but also on the ground. This season he rushed for 388 yards and added seven touchdowns, bringing his total to 57, setting the new record for touchdowns responsible for at UIW. He also holds the record for passing TDs (50) in a season and he's tied for most touchdowns in a single game with seven.   2022 SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Kelechi Anyalebechi, UIW,...UIW's Kelechi Anyalebechi earned Defensive Player of the Year honors, becoming the first UIW player to win the award. He also won first team all-Southland at linebacker, recording 88 total tackles (8.0 per game). The Buck Buchanan Award finalist had double-digit tackles in six games, including 15 stops in a win at Texas A&M-Commerce.   Lindsey Scott Jr. passed for 382 yards and five touchdowns, Marcus Cooper ran for a career-high 254 yards and two scores and Incarnate Word steamrolled Northwestern State 66-7 on Saturday. Scott and Incarnate Word (10-1, 5-1 Southland Conference), ranked 7th in the FCS coaches poll, spotted Northwestern State (4-7, 4-2) a 7-0 lead before scoring 66 straight. Scott had two touchdown passes in the first quarter, including a 10-yard scoring toss to Darion Chafin. Scott added an 18-yard scoring run and a short scoring toss to Jaelin Campbell in the second quarter as the Cardinals took a 31-7 halftime lead. Scott threw touchdown passes to Chafin covering 51 and 48 yards around Cooper's 67-yard scoring run and Incarnate Word led 52-7 after three quarters. Cooper had a 78-yard touchdown run in the fourth. Chafin had six catches for 143 yards.   NOV 7 SOUTHLAND OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Lindsey Scott, Jr., UIW - QB - Gr. - Zachary, La. (Zachary HS),...In the first half of the Cardinals' 73-20 win over HCU, Scott completed 15-of-20 passes for 319 yards and seven touchdowns for his third offensive player of the week award this season. This is the second game this season he has thrown for seven touchdowns in one half of play - only two such games existed in all of FCS history prior to this season. He now holds the top two passing efficiency single game marks this season after notching a 324.48 on Saturday.   Lindsey Scott Jr. tied a school record with seven touchdowns in the first half and Incarnate Word routed Houston Christian 73-20 on Saturday. Scott's now the program record holder with 51 touchdowns this season. He led Incarnate Word to 49 points in the second quarter to set another program record for scoring in any quarter. Scott was 15 of 20 for 319 yards with touchdown passes to five different receivers. Brandon Porter and Darion Chafin each had two touchdown grabs, and Jaelin Campbell and Taylor Grimes each had 70-plus yards receiving and a touchdown. Justin Fomby was intercepted three times for Houston Christian. Kelechi Anyalebechi had a pick-6, Shawn Holton returned his 40 yards and Donte Thompson added a 25-yard return. Marcus Cooper had 79 yards rushing and a touchdown for Incarnate Word (9-1, 4-1 Southland). Fomby finished 27 of 45 for 267 yards for Houston Christian (2-7, 1-4).   Marcus Cooper ran for 183 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns and Incarnate Word beat Texas A&M Commerce 35-7 on Saturday. Cooper's 5-yard scoring run with 1:10 before halftime gave the Cardinals (8-1, 3-1 Southland Conference) a 14-7 lead and they proceeded to pull away after the break. The Cardinals totaled 300 rushing yards on 41 carries. Quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. ran for 81 yards on 10 carries and reached the end zone once as his 24-yard dash provided the game's first score early in the first quarter. Scott threw for 282 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. His primary target was Brandon Porter who had 127 yards receiving in seven catches and a touchdown. Cameron Nellor's 4-yard scoring run with 4:09 before halftime brought the Lions into a 7-all tie.   Lindsey Scott Jr. was 12 of 14 for 302 yards and five touchdowns, and Incarnate Word rolled past NAIA-member Faulkner 70-0 on Saturday. Incarnate Word scored 35 points in the first quarter and cruised. Scott was 10 of 11 for 255 yards and four TDs in the first quarter. Darion Chafin opened the scoring with a 64-yard touchdown, Taylor Grimes scored from 70-yards out and CJ Hardy capped the first-quarter scoring with a 42-yarder. Hardy also scored from the 19 early in the second quarter.

Kole Wilson returned two punts for touchdowns - both for 48 yards. Wilson is the single-game, season and career record holder for punt return TDs for Incarnate Word. Grimes had a team-high four catches for 133 yards and a touchdown for Incarnate Word. Hardy added 81 yards receiving and two scores, and Chafin had 73 yards and a score.
