Exactly one week after its spring season ended, TCU football has its first post-spring transfer. Freshman linebacker Jayhvion Gipson entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal on Friday night, a source told the Star-Telegram. Gipson didn't register a stat in two games for the Frogs last season. He joined the Frogs as a three-star prospect out of Houston Langham Creek in the 2021 class. TCU has managed to keep the majority of its roster together since going through spring practices. Gipson is the only player who has entered the portal so far. Players must enter their name by Sunday in order to transfer this academic year. The portal will shutdown for three months over the summer before reopening on Aug. 1. - Star Telegram

Louisiana-Monroe has settled on a starting quarterback for Saturday's season opener. "We think it's been a really good competition between the two of them," Viator said during his Monday press conference. "Really a lack of spring and then just only one scrimmage with limited plays, we haven't seen enough I think is no. 1. No. 2 we have confidence in both guys, and the third thing is in normal years with injury, then you throw in COVID-19 also, I think it's smart to play multiple guys early in the season because you just never know who you're going to have what particular week."

Suits, who has been in ULM's system the longest, was the favorite to succeed Caleb Evans. A December signee, Hunt started as a freshman at Division II Central Missouri and last year at Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College. In ULM's only scrimmage of August camp, Suits directed the lone touchdown drive and finished 9-of-15 for 65 yards with a nine-yard score to wideout Malik Jackson. While Suits directed the first-team offense, junior Jeremy Hunt completed 8-of-13 passes for 61 yards with the second team. - The News-Star
