An HBU spokesman said Minnieweather has been dealing with stomach issue and that his absence was not COVID-19 related. He is expected back for the Huskies' last game on Sept. 26 against Louisiana Tech. The 6-foot, 235-pound senior from North Mesquite rushed for 528 yards and five touchdowns two years ago and for 723 yards and seven TDs last year. - Lubbock Avalanche Journal

Louisiana-Monroe has settled on a starting quarterback for Saturday's season opener. "We think it's been a really good competition between the two of them," Viator said during his Monday press conference. "Really a lack of spring and then just only one scrimmage with limited plays, we haven't seen enough I think is no. 1. No. 2 we have confidence in both guys, and the third thing is in normal years with injury, then you throw in COVID-19 also, I think it's smart to play multiple guys early in the season because you just never know who you're going to have what particular week."

Suits, who has been in ULM's system the longest, was the favorite to succeed Caleb Evans. A December signee, Hunt started as a freshman at Division II Central Missouri and last year at Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College. In ULM's only scrimmage of August camp, Suits directed the lone touchdown drive and finished 9-of-15 for 65 yards with a nine-yard score to wideout Malik Jackson. While Suits directed the first-team offense, junior Jeremy Hunt completed 8-of-13 passes for 61 yards with the second team. - The News-Star
