Elijah Walker passed for a touchdown and ran for another score to help Grambling beat Tennessee State 16-10 on Sunday night and win the Black College Hall of Fame Classic. Walker was just 4-of-11 passing for 43 yards with an interception but added 77 yards rushing on 17 carries for Grambling (1-0). Tennessee State (0-1) limited Grambling to just 184 total yards but committed 18 penalties for 150 yards in college football hall of famer Eddie George's first game as coach. Devon Starling, who finished with 18 carries for 88 yards, scored on a 4-yard run midway through the third quarter to put TSU back in front. - Grambling/AP College Football

  09/03/21 - Tre BradfordrSr/2026, Grambling State, 5-11, 225 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Bradford's departure marks the fourth running back the Sooners have lost this season. The team dismissed Seth McGowan and Mikey Henderson during the offseason due to felony charges stemming from an alleged armed robbery on April 15. Marcus Major was reportedly declared ineligible to play this season due to academic issues. But Bradford's departure so late into fall camp is especially tough for the Sooners, as he was expected to be the third running back on the depth chart behind Kennedy Brooks and Eric Gray. So after transferring to Oklahoma, why would Bradford decide to leave right before the team's first game?

Even Riley isn't sure. "I would love to explain what happened...I really don't have an explanation," Riley said on Tuesday. "It was a strange situation. It's part of the deal with the transfer portal. and then even in a COVID year, you're bringing in some people that you flat out know less about. [You can] do all the homework you want, you just don't know. "You look at the whole group of transfers that we brought in, I mean, again, from buy-in and culture guys and guys doing the right thing, we've added a tremendous percentage. But we missed on this one. I mean, we just flat out did." - Norman Transcript

The Sooners running back room had yet another setback on Thursday. Per a report from the OU Daily, running back Tre Bradford has missed the last two practices and is no longer with the team. The transfer running back from LSU was one of only three scholarship ball carriers on Oklahoma's rooster, along with Kennedy Brooks and Eric Gray. Running back Marcus Major was ruled ineligible for the season earlier this week due to an academic issue, per reports. - Norman Transcript

OU added some running back depth this week. Tre Bradford, who spent last season at LSU, made his transfer to the Sooners official, further beefing up a position that has been in flux this offseason. Bradford joins Tennessee transfer Eric Gray, who joined OU in time for spring ball, as transfer additions at running back. The need for another back arose after Seth McGowan's removal from the team following an alleged armed robbery in April. OU also lost Rhamondre Stevenson, who entered the NFL Draft, and T.J. Pledger, who transferred to Utah, from last year's team. Bradford (6-foot-0, 190 pounds) ran for 58 yards on 10 carries in five games last season with the Tigers. He also had three catches for 13 yards and a touchdown. He had nine carries for 53 yards in LSU's win over Ole Miss on Dec. 19. Coming out of Lancaster, Texas, Bradford was a 2020 four-star running back who chose LSU over a group that included Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Texas and Wisconsin. - Daily Oklahoman

Lincoln police are looking for former Nebraska football player Maurice Washington after he was reported missing late last week. LPD officer Erin Spilker said an out-of-state family member reported Washington, 20, missing Friday. LPD did not release any other details on Washington's status. Washington was dismissed from the Nebraska football team in January. He played two seasons with the Huskers and was suspended multiple times. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor revenge porn charge in California in March after he allegedly sent a sexually explicit video to a girl who appeared in the video and was underage at the time it was made. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and two years probation. Washington played in just five games in 2019 and left the team after an October loss to Minnesota and didn't return before his dismissal from the program. - Lincoln Journal Star

A former San Jose football standout who played running back at the University of Nebraska pleaded no contest to a charge that he texted a sex video of a former girlfriend to her in an act of retaliation. Maurice Washington III, a former South Bay football standout who played at the University of Nebraska, leaves the Hall of Justice in San Jose on April 10, 2019, after being arraigned on "revenge porn" charges stemming from allegations he texted an underage sex video of a former girlfriend after she rejected his online advances a year earlier. Maurice Washington III, 20, pleaded Thursday to a misdemeanor count of distributing a private sexual video to cause emotional distress, a violation of what is commonly known as California's "revenge porn" law. In January, he was released by Nebraska football program, though by that point his participation with the team was on and off, owing in large part to the criminal case. - Oakland Tribune
