WEEK 8 ACC QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK: Haynes King, R-Sr., QB, Georgia Tech (Longview, Texas),...Accounted for 325 yards of total offense in Georgia Tech's 27-18 win at Duke...Passed for 205 yards and rushed for 120, marking the third time this season, and his school-record seventh time as a Yellow Jacket, that he's had at least 100 passing yards and 100 rushing yards in the same game...Especially impressive in the second half, as 240 of his 325 total yards came in the final two quarters of the game...Led the Yellow Jackets to scores on all four of their full possessions in the second half (not including a series of kneel-downs to end the game)...Capped his impressive second-half showing with a 28-yard touchdown run with 2:10 to go in the game, which gave the Yellow Jackets a commanding 27-10 lead after trailing 10-7 earlier in the half.

With his 205 passing yards, King upped his career passing total at Georgia Tech to 6,132 yards. He is only the fifth player in Tech history to throw for 6,000 yards as a Yellow Jacket and the first to do it over only three seasons at Tech...His 28-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was his 10th of the year. He is only the fourth NCAA Division I FBS quarterback since 2015 with double-digit rushing touchdowns in three-straight seasons, and the first ACC signal-caller to do it since Louisville Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson from 2015-17...Earned his third ACC Quarterback of the Week honor this season. - ACC Football

  10/18/25 - Omar DanielsrSr/2026, Georgia Tech, 6-0, 195 (DS#47 FS) + More +

Safety Omar Daniels returned a fumble a school-record 95 yards for a touchdown and No. 12 Georgia Tech pieced together enough late-game offense to beat Duke 27-18 on Saturday and continue its best start to a season in more than a half-century. Haynes King threw for 205 yards and rushed for a game-high 120 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown run with 2:10 left. Georgia Tech (7-0, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won its first seven games for the first time since 1966. The last time the Yellow Jackets were 4-0 in ACC play came 27 years ago. Duke (4-3, 3-1), bidding to hold first place midway through its conference schedule, saw its three-game winning streak end. Darian Mensah was 32 for 44 for 373 yards and two touchdowns.

Georgia Tech didn't have a touchdown drive until a 72-yard march in the fourth quarter, building a 20-10 lead on Malachi Hosley's 10-yard run with 4:57 remaining. King threw for 38 yards with three completions on the drive. His 28-yard TD run extended the margin. After Duke moved 96 yards, Daniels returned a first-quarter fumble 95 for the game's first points. Duke was marred by red-zone mistakes - a fumble, botched attempt on a field goal and fourth-down penalty. The Blue Devils covered 159 yards on their first two possessions combined and didn't score. They held a 238-110 advantage in total yards in the first half. The teams entered the day tied with Virginia atop the ACC standings. - Georgia Tech/AP College Football

MIDSEASON AP ACC TOP OFFENSIVE PLAYER: Dual-threat quarterback Haynes King has led No. 12 Georgia Tech to a 6-0 start, including 3-0 in the ACC. King ran for two touchdowns in last week's 35-20 home win over Virginia Tech. The senior delivered more balance that helped him earn votes as the league's top offensive player. King completed 20 of 24 passes for 213 yards with a touchdown and ran for 60 yards with scoring runs of 26 and 2 yards. King ranks second in the ACC in total offense, averaging 282.2 yards, behind Duke's Darian Mensah (298.3).   Malachi Hosley ran for 129 yards and a touchdown, Haynes King had two scoring runs and No. 13 Georgia Tech used a strong start to beat short-handed Virginia Tech 35-20 on Saturday. Georgia Tech (6-0, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won its first six games for the first time since 2011. The Yellow Jackets scored the game's first 18 points.

King led Georgia Tech with another productive and efficient display of his dual-threat skills. King completed 20 of 24 passes for 213 yards with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Malik Rutherford and added 52 rushing yards with scoring runs of 26 and 2 yards. Virginia Tech (2-5, 1-2) listed 20 players as out due to injuries and fell to 2-2 under interim coach Philip Montgomery. The Hokies cut Georgia Tech's lead to 21-14 early in the second half on Kyron Drones' 33-yard scoring pass to Ja'Ricious Hairston. Drones threw a 3-yard scoring pass to Hairston in the fourth quarter and ran for 83 yards with a score. Drones was stopped on a fourth-down run from the Georgia Tech 10 with 2:20 remaining. - Georgia Tech/AP College Football

  10/04/25 - Justice HaynesJr/2027, Georgia Tech, 5-10, 210 (DS#1 RB) + More +

Bryce Underwood threw for a season-high 270 yards and a touchdown, Justice Haynes ran for 117 yards and two scores and No. 20 Michigan beat Wisconsin 24-10 on Saturday. The Wolverines (4-1, 2-0 Big Ten) pulled away in the second half when Underwood threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Donaven McCulley late in the third quarter and Haynes had his second short touchdown run early in the fourth. The Badgers (2-3, 0-2) opened the game with a 12-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that took nearly seven minutes off the clock and didn't score again until Nathanial Vakos kicked a 39-yard field goal late in the game. Underwood, the nation's No. 1 recruit last year, completed 19 of 28 passes and had some drops by his teammates.

Haynes had 19 carries, including one for 43 yards against a defense that led major college football by allowing just 50 yards rushing per game. The Alabama transfer has run for 100-plus yards in each game this season. Southern Illinois transfer QB Hunter Simmons made his first start for the Badgers in place of Danny O'Neil, who had as many touchdowns (five) as interceptions while filling in for injured quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. Simmons was 18 of 29 for 177 yards with an interception. Dilin Jones had 17 carries for 63 yards, most on the game-opening drive, and scored on a 5-yard run to give Wisconsin the lead briefly. - Michigan/AP College Football

  09/27/25 - Haynes KingrSr/2026, Georgia Tech, 6-2, 209 (DS#13 QB) + More +

Georgia Tech intercepted Wake Forest's 2-point play for the win in overtime to help the 16th-ranked Yellow Jackets edge the Demon Deacons 30-29 on Saturday, capping a wild day that saw them rally from 17 down in the third quarter to stay unbeaten. Haynes King ran for two touchdowns to lead the Yellow Jackets (5-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), including a tough 2-yard keeper to start the OT.

The Demon Deacons (2-2, 0-2) responded with Demond Claiborne's next-play 25-yard scoring run to the left pylon. But with Claiborne shaken up on the play and quarterback Robby Ashford hobbled, first-year coach Jake Dickert played for the win. Ashford rolled to his right looking for a target, but ultimately had to force the ball back toward the middle - where E.J. Lightsey picked it off at the goal line to end it. That sent the Yellow Jackets on the field to celebrate. Ashford and multiple of his teammates, meanwhile, were left squatting in disbelief. Claiborne ran for 119 yards and two touchdowns while Ashford ran for one of his own, helping the Demon Deacons lead 20-3 by early in the third quarter. - Georgia Tech/AP College Football

Haynes King threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns, Malachi Hosley ran for two touchdowns, and No. 18 Georgia Tech raced out to a quick three touchdown lead and beat Temple 45-24 on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets (4-0), playing their first home game as a ranked team since 2015, scored touchdowns on their first three possessions, gaining 199 yards on 16 offensive plays for a 21-0 first-quarter lead.

King opened the scoring with a 17-yard touchdown run, and threw touchdown passes to Malik Rutherford and Isiah Canion. Temple (2-2) pulled within 21-14 on Jay Ducker's 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and Evan Simon's 28-yard scoring pass to JoJo Bermudez. But Hosley scored his third and fourth rushing touchdowns of the season on consecutive drives, busting off left tackle for a 34-yard score and pushing forward from 2 yards out to restore the 21-point advantage by the end of three quarters. - Georgia Tech/AP College Football

  09/20/25 - Justice HaynesJr/2027, Georgia Tech, 5-10, 210 (DS#1 RB) + More +

Justice Haynes rushed for 149 yards and broke one of No. 21 Michigan's three long touchdown runs in a 30-27 win over Nebraska on Saturday, extending the Cornhuskers' losing streak against Top 25 opponents to 28 games. Freshman Bryce Underwood, who struggled in a road loss at Oklahoma two weeks ago, was just 12-of-22 passing for 105 yards in his first Big Ten road game but scored the Wolverines' first touchdown on a 37-yard run and extended his team's last scoring drive with a key third-down pass and a scramble. "He did everything he had to do to win, which is the maturity he might not have had at Oklahoma," said Biff Poggi, acting head coach in place of the suspended Sherrone Moore. Dylan Raiola's 52-yard Hail Mary to Jacory Barney Jr. for a touchdown to end the first half tied it 17-all and gave the Cornhuskers (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) momentum heading into the third quarter.

They managed just a field goal after that until Raiola led them on a 75-yard drive to make it a three-point game with 1:34 left. Michigan (3-1, 1-0) recovered the onside kick, picked up a first down and ran out the clock. The Wolverines rushed for 286 yards, the most against Nebraska since Oklahoma ran for 312 in 2022. "Just too many big plays to win a football game like that," Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said. "We battled, and I appreciate that from the guys. It wasn't enough." The Wolverines went into the fourth quarter with a 27-17 lead after Dominic Zvada kicked a 56-yard field goal and Jordan Marshall busted through the line to go 54 yards for a touchdown. Zvada's 21-yard field goal gave the Wolverines a 10-point lead again with under 4 minutes to play. Michigan had two one-play touchdown drives, with Underwood breaking his 37-yard run after a Nebraska turnover and Haynes going 75 yards untouched to the end zone. Raiola was 30 of 41 for 308 yards and three touchdowns, the first quarterback to throw for 300 yards against Michigan since Purdue's Aidan O'Connell in 2022. Raiola threw his first interception of the season and was sacked seven times as Michigan defensive coordinator Wink Martindale sent blitzes from a variety of angles. - Michigan/AP College Football

Aidan Birr made a 55-yard field goal as time expired and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets upset the No. 12 Clemson Tigers on Saturday. With no timeouts left and the clock running with under 20 seconds to play, the Georgia Tech special teams squad sprinted onto the field and lined up. And on fourth-and-3, Birr connected and the home crowd rushed the field. Quarterback Haynes King returned from a lower-body injury that kept him out of Georgia Tech's Sept. 6 win over Gardener-Webb. King was 19 for 27 for 216 yards and added 25 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown on a 1-yard quarterback sneak in the fourth quarter for the Yellow Jackets (3-0, 1-0 ACC).

King's score and the 2-point conversion gave the Yellow Jackets a 21-14 lead. Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik had an uneven performance in which he turned the ball over twice - one fumble and one interception. Klubnik was 15 for 26 for 207 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown pass to Bryant Wesco early in the second half to give the Tigers a 14-13 lead. Klubnik added 62 yards and one touchdown on the ground. For the second straight week, Clemson (1-2, 0-1) had to overcome a slow start and halftime deficit. - Georgia Tech/AP College Football

  09/06/25 - Jamal HaynesrSr/2026, Georgia Tech, 5-07, 190 (DS#43 RB) + More +

Despite not having starting quarterback Haynes King, Georgia Tech was far too much for Gardner-Webb. The Yellow Jackets cruised to a 59-12 victory over the Runnin' Bulldogs on their home opener at Bobby Dodd Stadium. King went through full warm-ups, but was ruled out just before kick-off with a "nagging lower body injury" per a Georgia Tech spokesperson. Backup Aaron Philo made his first career start and struggled early, turning the ball over on Georgia Tech's first two possessions. But a strong offensive line performance and the rushing attack from the duo of Jamal Haynes and Malachi Hosley helped him settle in. The Yellow Jackets (2-0) scored 42 unanswered points and gained 680 total yards after Gardner-Webb (1-1) briefly led 6-0. - Georgia Tech/AP College Football
