  2019 PRESEASON PAYCOM JIM THORPE AWARD WATCH LIST: Jaron Bryant, Fresno State, Sr.,...Fresno State senior defensive backs Jaron Bryant and Juju Hughes were both named to the preseason watch list for the 2019 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame announced on Monday. Bryant, a cornerback, and Hughes, a strong safety, are one of eight defensive back duos in the nation to represent its respective team on the Thorpe watch list.

Bryant was named an All-Mountain West honorable mention selection in 2018. He logged 12 pass breakups for Fresno State, second-most on the team and posted 50 tackles, 43 of which were solo stops. - Fresno State Football

He led all defensive linemen in the Mountain West in tackles per game, averaging 6.1 per game, and totaled the second-most tackles on the team with 87. He recorded a team-best 14.0 tackles for loss (for 39 yards) and also chipped in 4.5 sacks.
