  04/25/21 - Jaelen GillrSr/2024, Fresno State, 6-0, 189 (DS#64 WR) + More +

Along with the sentimental value of players' parents seeing them play for what's likely the first time in almost two years, the Spring Game also provides an opportunity for the Eagles to showcase their offseason improvements. "[Jaelen Gill] is one of the guys that have really made the biggest steps so far this spring," backup quarterback Dennis Grosel said during Thursday's press conference. "He's been really working hard. He's getting comfortable with everything. That's really what it ties in to. It's just another year in the same system." Gill, a transfer from Ohio State, broke out last season with 435 yards on 29 receptions. With star receiver Kobay White's absence due to a knee injury last season, Gill became a fundamental part of a receiving core that remains almost fully intact going into the 2021 season. - The Heights

  03/21/21 - Aaron MosbyrSr/2022, Fresno State, 6-3, 250 (DS#39 DE) + More +

Arron Mosby is lining up at defensive end this spring, a move that has been anticipated since he came into the program five years ago as a highly regarded safety from Sanger High. He also is wearing No. 3, not No. 15, the number worn by former Bulldogs' defensive end/linebacker Mykal Walker, the fourth-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in the 2020 NFL Draft. Mosby, who is up to 247 pounds, gives the Bulldogs another dynamic presence off the edge, coming off a season in which they were third in the nation with 4.2 sacks per game. The challenge this spring, he said, will be working on his hands and dealing with a 300-pound tackle on every play. "I'm trying to learn from those guys, (David) Perales, Kevin Atkins, Kwami (Jones), those three main guys right there that are really holding down the D-line," Mosby said. "Me, I'm just trying to help the team out as much as I can. Moving to D-end is a huge step, but I'm ready for the challenge." - Fresno Bee

  01/14/21 - Ty JonesrSr/2023, Fresno State, 6-4, 210 (DS#999 WR) + More +

On Dec. 5, Ty Jones stuck out his right hand and snared a looping football for a 42-yard gain in a 31-26 home loss to Stanford. In the next drive, he followed that up with an almost equally impressive 37-yard reception. They were the last two catches of his UW career. On Wednesday, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound redshirt junior wide receiver announced his plans to make a graduate transfer. Jones, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, made 44 catches for 702 yards and six touchdowns over 32 career games at UW. He led the Huskies with six receiving scores in 2018, but appeared in just four games and did not register a reception the following season while battling a wrist/hand injury. The former four-star recruit added six catches for 140 yards in four games last fall. - Seattle Times

  01/10/21 - Ronnie RiversrSr/2022, Fresno State, 5-08, 198 (DS#44 RB) + More +

Fresno State running back Ronnie Rivers said on Friday that he would return for a second senior season of football, taking advantage of eligibility relief granted all fall sports student-athletes due to the coronavirus pandemic and bolstering a Bulldogs' offense that last season led the Mountain West Conference in total offense and was second in scoring offense. Rivers also will have a chance to move up the Bulldogs' all-time rushing and scoring lists and finish his career as one of the most prolific skill position players in their history.

The senior running back ended a truncated 2020 season with 44 career touchdowns, tied with Anthony Daigle atop the Bulldogs' Top 10 list. He also is tied for third with Daigle for career rushing touchdowns with 35, four behind all-time leader Ryan Mathews; and seventh on the all-time rushing list with 2,629 yards, a 1,000-yard season from moving past his father, Ron Rivers, who is second with 3,473 yards. - Fresno Bee

Oregon State redshirt junior Isaac Garcia announced Tuesday that he plans to leave the football program and become a graduate transfer. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound outside linebacker spent four years with the Beavers, playing 26 games over the past three years. Garcia has two years of eligibility remaining. Garcia was part of a talented Oregon State outside linebacker corps, and was unable to crack the two-deep for most games the past two seasons. Garcia had three tackles in seven games this past season. In 26 career games, Garcia had five tackles and one fumble recovery. Garcia joins Hamilcar Rashed Jr. as OSU outside linebackers planning to leave the program following the 2020 season. - The Oregonian
