  2021 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): RB Kevin Daniels, NAU,...Kevin Daniels landed All-Big Sky Second Team honors following his impressive 10-game run during the fall. After playing in all five spring games and tallying 39 yards on 16 total touches, Daniels exploded for 1,146 rushing yards with another 141 through the air. Ranking fourth in the FCS at 114.6 rushing yards per game and fifth in total rushing yards, Daniels quickly developed a critical role in Northern Arizona's offense. Averaging 6.2 yards per carry, 17th in the FCS and first in the Big Sky, Daniels also finished second in the Big Sky behind only Weber State receiver and returner Rashid Shaheed with 128.7 all-purpose yards per game. - Northern Arizona Football

  Kevin Daniels 280 yards rushing and five touchdowns - both career highs - to help Northern Arizona beat Cal Poly 45-21 on Saturday night in the season finale for both teams. Daniels, a 6-foot-2, 225 pound freshman, finished the season with 1,146 yards rushing and became just the 17th player in program history to run for at least 1,000 yards - the first since Casey Jahn had 1,035 yards rushing in 2015. Lepi Lataimua scored on a 1-yard run to cap a nine-play, 61-yard drive and give Cal Poly (2-8, 1-6 Big Sky Conference) a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter but two plays from scrimmage later RJ Martinez hit Coleman Owen for a 62-yard touchdown to make it 7-7 and NAU outscored the Mustangs 31-7 in second quarter to take control. Daniels scored on runs of 3, 13, and 23 yards before taking a handoff, exploding up the middle and cutting left before winning a race down the left sideline for a 90-yard touchdown give Northern Arizona (4-6, 3-4) a 38-14 halftime lead.   Tony Muskett passed for 289 yards and four touchdowns and Juwon Farri ran for 139 yards and two scores as Monmouth overpowered Gardner-Webb 54-17 in the Bulldogs' Big South Conference opener on Saturday. Farri ran 39 yards for a score to open the scoring for the Hawks (3-2, 2-0) on their first possession. Muskett added a pair of TD passes to Joey Aldarelli; Nick Shoemaker forced a fumble and recovered it in the end zone for a score; and Lonnie Moore IV added a 39-yard TD run as Monmouth jumped out to a 33-0 second-quarter lead and never looked back. The Hawks amassed 238 yards on the ground and finished with 527 yards of offense. Dymere Miller had three catches for 106 yards and a TD, while Moore caught eight passes for 100 yards and a score. Gardner-Webb (2-3, 0-1) was held to 97 yards rushing on 26 carries with 47 of those coming on a TD run by Dexter Brown on the final play of the first half.   Bryce Dewberry returned a fumble 90 yards for a pivotal touchdown and Eastern Illinois went on to defeat Tennessee Tech 28-14 in an Ohio Valley Conference opener on Saturday. Midway through the fourth quarter, Tennessee Tech drove inside the 10-yard line looking to tie the score. With 2nd-and-goal from the 5, the 16th play of the Golden Eagles' drive went awry as quarterback Drew Martin fumbled in the backfield and Dewberry returned it 90 yards for an Eastern Illinois touchdown and a 28-14 lead.

Tennessee Tech (0-3) outgained Eastern Illinois (1-4) 379-304 and controlled the ball for 36 minutes. However, The Golden Eagles committed four turnovers and were 4 for 15 on third down as the Eastern Illinois defense came up with several big plays. Jordan Miles had three of the Panthers' five sacks and caused two fumbles and Jason Johnson had 16 tackles, nine solo. The Panthers' Otto Kuhns completed 15 of 26 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns, both to Deairious Smith, who had six receptions for 109 yards.   Juwon Farri rushed for three touchdowns, Tony Muskett passed for two more and Monmouth defeated Charleston Southern 41-14 in the Big South Conference opener for both teams Saturday night. Farri opened the scoring with a run from the 2, capping a 14-play, 75-yard grinder of a game-opening drive that ate 5:35 off the clock. He added a run from the 5 as Monmouth (2-1, 1-0) led 14-0 after another five-minute drive near the end of the first quarter. The Hawks are ranked No. 20 in the FCS coaches' poll. Muskett was 18-of-29 passing for 208 yards with touchdowns to Terrance Greene for 10 yards and Assanti Kearney for 24.

In a switch, Farri scored on a one-play, 1-yard drive just after Monmouth's Eddie Morales returned an interception 77 yards to the 1. Jack Chambers scored both TDs for Charleston Southern (1-1, 0-1) on runs of 8 and 20 yards. Chambers rushed 14 times for 68 yards and went 18-for-36 passing for 167 more. CSU's Garris Schwarting, who tied Big South and school records with four receiving touchdowns a week ago, was held to two catches for 7 yards.   Tony Muskett threw for one touchdown and ran for another and Monmouth edged Fordham 26-23 on Saturday. Juwon Farri rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown for the Hawks (1-1), who got a crucial two points in the third quarter when Justin Terry intercepted a pass on an attempted two-point conversion to push the lead to 23-16. Nick Null's first field goal for Monmouth with 13:26 to go made it 26-16.

The Hawks were about to put the game away when Muskett, on a first-and-1 from the 1 was intercepted by James Conway, who returned the ball to the 35. Tim DeMorat cashed in with a 39-yard scoring connection with Dequece Carter with five minutes left. Monmouth got two key first downs before punting the ball out of bounds on the Fordham 8 with 26 seconds left. The Hawks finished with 469 yards, one more than Fordham (0-2). DeMorat finished with 352 yards on 27-of-49 passing, with three touchdowns, two to Carter.
