The Tribe, ranked No. 23 in the FCS coaches poll for the first time since 2015, took their game-opening drive 12-plays in 6:30 but ended with Ethan Chang's 24-yard field goal. Delaware struck twice after William & Mary turnovers — scoring touchdowns after a fumble recovery and then taking over on downs. The Blue Hens (5-4, 3-3 Colonial Athletic Association) scored 24 unanswered points with Lee getting the ball rolling with his 12-yard sp rint around left end to give Delaware a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter in just two plays.

Dejoun Lee ran for 100 yards and a touchdown and Delaware held off a late comeback attempt to earn a 17-10 win over Dixie State on Saturday. The Blue Hens denied Dixie State positive rushing yardage on 26 carries. Delaware did all its scoring in the first half. Kobe Tracy fired 20 yards to hit Michael Moten for a touchdown to get the Trailblazers on the scoreboard and Coe answered with a 43-yard field goal.

Connor Brooksby converted a 33-yard field goal in the third quarter to cut the Delaware lead to 17-10. Two key penalties - a personal foul for targeting and defensive pass interference - got Dixie State well into Delaware territory in the final minutes, but Tracy threw back-to-back incompletions from the Blue Hens' 32-yard-line. Delaware (4-4) rushed for 165 yards and Zach Gwynn was 19 of 28 for 215 yards. Lee, who is second in the Colonial Athletic Association averaging 138.3 all-purpose yards per game, added four catches for 18 yards. Tracy completed 25 of 39 attempts for 314 yards and a touchdown and was picked off once to lead Dixie State (0-8).   Rutgers brought in a speedy, dynamic wide receiver/kick returner last year in Wisconsin transfer Aron Cruickshank. Now they have another in Youngblood, a transfer from Kansas State. Youngblood was an All-American kick returner as a true freshman in 2019 and the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year after returning three kickoffs for touchdowns, a national best. He'll be another weapon for Rutgers and special teams coordinator Adam Scheier. It'll also be interesting to see how much the Scarlet Knights incorporate him into the offense early on. Youngblood was limited in spring practices because of injury, but Schiano said at Big Ten media days that the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Youngblood was feeling "much better." "He's got an opportunity to jump in there and become not only a return guy, but in our wide receiver rotation," Schiano said. - Asbury Park Press

The Illinois football team has added a plethora of transfers this offseason entering Bret Bielema's first season in charge. The Illini have also lost a handful of players, too. Six members of last year's team are no longer with the program, the team confirmed on Tuesday, and two quarterbacks who started at least one game last season for the Illini are now at different positions. A whirlwind day of roster reshuffling saw running back Kyron Cumby, offensive lineman Brevyn Jones, offensive lineman Blaise Sparks, defensive lineman Tre'Von Riggins and defensive lineman Anthony Shipton all confirm via social media posts they have left the Illini program and entered the transfer portal. Cumby saw brief playing time at both running back and wide receiver during the last two seasons with the Illini. The 5-8, 180-pound Cumby played in nine games at Illinois, hauling in four receptions for 42 yards and running twice for 11 yards while returning four punts for 51 yards. - News Gazette Tribune
