  WEEK 3 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: Steven Demboski, Delaware - Sr. - OL - Hillsdale, N.J.,...Demboski made his season debut in the Blue Hens' (2-1) 44-41 overtime win over UConn after missing the first two games due to injury. The senior captain stepped in right where he left off a season ago and was the starting center, not missing a snap on offense. Under his leadership, the Delaware rushing attack had its best game on the ground, accounting for five rushing touchdowns and 247 rushing yards for an average of 5.5 yards per attempt. - Conference USA Football

  Nick Minicucci rushed for a 13-yard touchdown in overtime to give Delaware a 44-41 overtime victory over UConn on Saturday, the first FBS win over an FBS team for the Fightin' Blue Hens. Minicucci went up the middle on a keeper for the victory after the Huskies (1-2) had to settle for a field goal on its OT possession despite having a first down at the Delaware 2. Nate Reed kicked a 43-yard field goal for Delaware (2-1) as time ran out in regulation. The tying kick came after UConn failed to convert a fourth-and-2 and gave the Fightin' Blue Hens possession on the Delaware 22 with 2:10 remaining.

The teams combined for 1,033 yards, split almost evenly. Minicucci ran for three scores and was 23-of-34 passing for 265 yards and a TD toss to Kyre Duplessis, who had nine catches for career-best 161 yards. Jo Silver rushed for a career-high 179 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns. Joe Fagnano was 28 of 38 for 346 yards passing and two scores for UConn. Cam Edwards had 116 yards with two scores on 23 carries and Skyler Bell 92 yards on seven receptions. Delaware took a 24-21 lead with seven minutes left in the half and the lead went back-and-forth from there with UConn taking a 38-35 lead with 10 minutes left on Fagnano's 1-yard toss to Alex Honig. The Blue Hens, who are in their first season of FBS competition, hosted an FBS team in their stadium for the first time since 1989. - Delaware/AP College Football

  Nick Minicucci threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth and Delaware made its debut at the FBS level with a 35-17 win over Delaware State and its new coach DeSean Jackson on Thursday night. The Blue Hens, now a Conference USA member, wrapped it up when Minicucci found a wide-open Jake Thaw for a 50-yard walk-in in front of Jackson, who set the NFL record with the most 60-yard receptions, with 6:15 to play. Minicucci was 28 of 36 for 251 yards in a steady rain and ran for 44 yards to lead the Blue Hens. Delaware coach Ryan Carty has never lost a home opener as a coach, dating back to 2007 and is 22-1 including his playing days with the Blue Hens.

Kahlil Ali had a 45-yard interception return to make it 28-10 early in the fourth quarter. The Hornets responded quickly with Marquis Gillis hauling in a 39-yard touchdown pass from Kaiden Bennett but two minutes later Minicucci and Thaw wrapped it up. Thaw finished with seven catches for 91 yards and Kyre Duplessis had eight for 89 with a touchdown. Bennett, a transfer from Sacramento State, opened the second half with a long drive and scored on a 23-yard run but again Minicucci answered with a 9-yard pass to Ja'Carree Kelly. Pro Bowl running back Clinton Portis is the running backs coach for the Hornets, who got 130 yards on 17 carries from Gillis. - Delaware/AP College Football

  Ryan O'Connor threw four touchdowns passes and Delaware defeated new Coastal Athletic Association member Bryant 48-17 on Thursday night in a season opener. The matchup between the two CAA programs won't count in the standings as the game was scheduled before the Bulldogs announced their move to the conference. This will be Delaware's final FCS season with the Fightin' Blue Hens joining Conference USA next season.

O'Connor was 29-of-41 passing for 245 yards connecting for scores with four different receivers. Nine Blue Hens receivers were targeted. Three Delaware running backs also scored. The Blue Hens outgained the Bears 428-319. Three of O'Connor's TD throws came in the first half for a 34-10 halftime lead at which point the game was delayed because of weather. Coastal Carolina transfer Jarrett Guest was 16-of-29 passing for 146 yards including a touchdown and interception for Bryant. - AP College Football

  Nolan Henderson threw for four touchdowns, three to Chandler Harvin, and Delaware beat Saint Francis (Pa.) 56-17 on Saturday in the first round of the FCS playoffs. The Blue Hens (8-4), who gained an at-large berth and home game after going 4-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association, will play at top-seeded South Dakota State next Saturday. Henderson was 16-of-23 passing for 266, throwing TD passes of 30, 7 and 58 yards to Harvin, a Sam Houston transfer, who had a season-high 128 yards on four catches. Henderson, who took a seat early in the fourth quarter, also had a rushing TD. Kyron Cumby rushed for 111 yards on 10 carries.

Henderson, who reached a program record with 32 passing TDs this season, led Delaware to a 28-3 halftime lead with the Blue Hens already having 331 yards offense and 17 first downs. They would outgain Saint Francis 586-259 with 303 in the air and 283 rushing. Saint Francis quarterback and Northeast Conference Offensive Player of Year Cole Doyle was only 7-of-20 passing for 82 yards and didn't play in the second half after an apparent leg injury. Pitt transfer Justin Sliwoski took over in the second half and led the Red Flash to their first touchdown on a 12-yard pass to Dawson Snyder in the third quarter after Kerry Galloway returned an interception 54 yards from the end zone. Sliwoski connected with Makai Jackson for a 45-yard score late in the fourth quarter and finished with 103 yards passing.
