CJ Marable crashed into the end zone in the final seconds of the game, then skirted around the left side for the 2-point conversion to give Coastal Carolina a 36-35 win over Troy on Saturday afternoon. The Chanticleers fell short on the initial conversion try but Troy was called for pass interference in the end zone. Marable, who scored from the 3 for the touchdown, walked into the end zone on the next play for the victory. The Trojans still had 30 seconds remaining but were thwarted on a pass-and-lateral play that fell far short. It was the first Sun Belt Conference win this year for Coastal Carolina (4-4, 1-3).

Troy's Kaylon Geiger went up high over the defender to pull down a 23-yard scoring strike in the end zone for a 35-28 lead with 8:34 remaining in the final quarter. The teams traded punts before the Chanticleers mounted their 11-play, 71-yard winning drive. Bryce Carpenter threw for 285 yards and one score and Marable finished with 52 yards on 14 carries. Jaivon Heiligh caught 12 passes for 107 yards. Kaleb Barker threw for 385 yards for Troy (3-5, 1-3) with Geiger hauling in 12 for 145 yards. - AP College Football

Jack Chambers threw two touchdown passes and scored on a 70-yard run to lead Charleston Southern to a 30-27 victory over Gardner Webb on Saturday. After trailing 30-7 through the third quarter, Gardner Webb scored three touchdowns in the fourth -- all on short passes by Kalen Whitlow -- but was stopped on downs near midfield on its final possession. Chambers completed 25 of 37 passes for 191 yards. He led the Buccaneers (3-6, 1-2 Big South) with 99 yards rushing. Whitlow completed 33 of 52 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns. He was intercepted twice. Jayln Cagle rushed for 69 yards for the Runnin' Bulldogs (3-6, 1-3). Charleston Southern built a 24-0 halftime lead on the strength of Terrence Wilson's 13-yard run, a 40-yard field by Alex Usry, Chambers' 70-yard run and Chambers' 10-yard pass to Kameron Brown. Perhaps just as important, the Bucs held Gardner-Webb to 74 yards total offense in the half. - AP College Football

Nate Hope ran for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and Austin Henning kicked a 27-yard field goal as time expired to lift Lehigh to a 27-24 victory over Georgetown on Saturday. Lehigh (4-3, 3-0 Patriot League) jumped out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead on Henning's 36-yard field goal and a 32-yard TD run by Zaythan Hill. The only scoring of the second quarter was a 23-yard field goal by Georgetown's Brad Hurst that left the Hoyas (5-3, 1-2) trailing 10-3 at the half. Quarterback Gunther Johnson capped a nine-play, 77-yard drive on Georgetown's first possession of the third quarter with a 3-yard TD toss to Joshua Tomas, but Hurst missed the extra-point kick and left the Hoyas trailing 10-9. Two possessions later Johnson connected with Cameron Crayton for a 25-yard score and Georgetown led 16-10 after three quarters.

The Mountain Hawks used Hope's 1-yard scoring run to take a 17-16 lead 49 seconds into the final quarter and Hope's 2-yard TD run stretched the lead to 24-16 with 2:55 left to play. But the Hoyas weren't finished. Johnson connected with Michael Dereus for a 72-yard scoring strike on fourth-and-4 from their own 28-yard line and then hit Joshua Stakely for the 2-point conversion to knot the score at 24 with 1:23 remaining. That was enough time for Mountain Hawks quarterback Tyler Monaco to lead his team to victory. Monaco kept the drive alive with a 12-yard pass to Devon Bibbens on third-and-10 at the Lehigh 31-yard line. Two plays later Monaco hit Bibbens for a 48-yard gain, setting up Henning's game-winning kick. Johnson finished 20-of-30 passing for 267 yards and three TDs. Dereus had six catches for 155 yards and a score. Monaco completed 23 of 36 passes for 271 yards. - AP College Football

WEEK 2 SUN BELT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Chandler Kryst, Coastal Carolina (Sr., DB, Tega Cay, S.C.),...Coastal Carolina redshirt senior defensive back Chandler Kryst matched his career interceptions total over his first four years in just one night with two picks in the road win at Kansas. Kryst, who joined a small company of Chanticleers to record two interceptions in the same game, ended two of the Jayhawks' offensive series in a tight contest. Kryst and the Coastal Carolina defense held Kansas, which was averaging 241 passing yards per game entering the game, to just 107 passing yards and an average of only 5.6 passing yards per reception.

Kryst's first interception came in the second quarter with the Chants trailing 7-0. Kryst picked off a pass on Coastal's own four-yard line as Kansas looked to double its lead. His second interception of the game came in Kansas' first possession of the second half with the Chants down 7-6. He returned it 25 yards to help set up what would prove to be the game-winning touchdown on the next offensive series. Following his second pick, the Jayhawks attempted just four passes over the final 26:25 of the game. The win over the Jayhawks is Coastal's first-ever win over an Autonomy Five conference school (1-7) and a Big 12 opponent (1-0). - Sun Belt Football

Entering Saturday night's matchup between Kansas and Coastal Carolina, all eyes fell to the Jayhawks' Pooka Williams Jr. as he made his season debut following a single-game suspension, his offensive impact under new Kansas coach Les Miles eagerly anticipated. However, a 148-yard, two-touchdown performance by Coastal Carolina's CJ Marable quickly gleaned the spotlight, exceeding the output of Williams and leading the Chanticleers to a 12-7 victory over the Jayhawks in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. Fred Payton connected with Marable for 20 yards to pick up the Chanticleers (1-1) lone touchdown of the first half; however, a missed extra-point attempt in conjunction with a shanked 31-yard field goal by Massimo Biscardi sent the Chanticleers to the locker room facing a 7-6 deficit.

In only their second season as a full-time FBS team, the Chanticleers were to overpower their first Big 12 opponent in program history for much of the evening, hanging 291 total yards of offense on Kansas compared to the Jayhawks' 280. Cracking a five-game losing streak, Coastal Carolina showed improvements offensively following a struggle-ridden opener against Eastern Michigan last week featuring four interceptions. - AP College Football
