  Following their sixth Northeast Conference title, the #17 Central Connecticut football team will head to the University at Albany to face the Great Danes in the first round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday, November 30. Central, one of only three teams in the country still undefeated vs. FCS competition this season, is 11-1 overall and won the NEC title with a perfect 7-0 record. The Blue Devils lead the country with six road wins this season, and were 11-0 against FCS teams in 2019. The lone loss on their schedule came on the road at FBS member Eastern Michigan. Central has won eight straight games since that loss, including Saturday's 43-10 win at Duquesne to extend their school-record to 11 wins on the season.

Central has won nine straight road games vs. FCS opponents dating back to last season. The game will be played at 1 p.m. on ESPN3. The teams will be meeting for the 20th overall time, with the Great Danes holding a 13-6 edge in the series. The last meeting came in 2014, a 19-0 Albany win in New Britain. The last meeting at Albany came in 2013, a 20-17 CCSU victory. The Blue Devils are making their second trip to the NCAA FCS Playoffs.   Aaron Winchester threw two touchdown passes, brothers D.J. and Danley Exilhomme accounted for three scores, and Central Connecticut State wrapped up an undefeated league season with a 43-10 win over Duquesne on Saturday. The 18th-ranked Blue Devils (11-1, 7-0 NEC), who clinched their sixth Northeast Conference title last week, won their eighth straight game and their 11 wins extends the school record for victories in a season. CCSU led 19-10 at halftime then put the game away with two long touchdowns in the third quarter.

Winchester hit Tyshaun James on a 73-yard touchdown pass and D.J. Exilhomme returned an interception for an 87-yard score. Danley Exhilhomme's 25-yard run closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter. He also had a 4-yard run for the game's first score. Winchester completed 9 of 20 passes for 188 yards with the two touchdowns and an interception. For the Dukes (6-5, 4-3), Brett Brumbaugh was 11 of 30 for 111 yards with two interceptions. He threw an 11-yard pass to Kellon Taylor for Duquesne's lone touchdown late in the second quarter. The second-year Blue Devil made an interception on the first snap of the second half, setting the CCSU offense up with a 1st-and-10 at the RMU 36-yard line. Brown reached paydirt during the final minute of the third quarter, recovering a fumble on a 3rd-and-1 play and taking it 25 yards to bump CCSU's lead to 35-14.   Aaron Winchester ran for four touchdowns, passed for another and Central Connecticut used a burst of four unanswered TDs to break away from Robert Morris 49-28 on Saturday to clinch the Northeast Conference championship and automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. Danley Exilhomme led all rushers with 185 yards on 26 carries, Winchester gained 91 yards with touchdowns on keepers of 2, 10, 2 and 1 yards. Tyshaun James caught three passes for 68 yards and a TD for the Blue Devils (10-1, 8-0). The 10-win season is a first for Central Connecticut, which clinched the NEC title after its win and Bryant's upset of Duquesne. Winchester finished 8 of 14 passing for 111 yards and no interceptions.

Robert Morris, which came in on a five-game win streak, had a chance to clinch the NEC title and FCS playoff berth. After CCSU took the game-opening possession 84 yards in more than seven minutes to score, the Colonials answered with quick 14 points. Matt Gonzales and Jacob White started things when Gonzales blocked an attempted punt and White returned it 21-yards to score. Accounting for 177 yards, the versatile wide receiver gained 95 yards on six catches, rushed for 48 yards and completed a 34-yard pass. He scored two key second-half touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air.

James was responsible for the game's first pass completion, executing a wide receiver option play on 2nd-and-6 and connecting with Jiovany Pierre 34 yards downfield. The versatile receiver found the end zone on a 48-yard rush that tied the score at 21-21 with 6:46 left in the third quarter. James struck again midway through the fourth quarter, securing a contested catch for a 15-yard touchdown that gave CCSU a 28-24 edge. - NEC Football
