  Jason Wright threw for 358 yards and accounted for four touchdowns and Buffalo rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Miami of Ohio 34-31 in overtime on Tuesday night. Wright threw for two touchdowns and ran for two scores. Chance Morrow had 199 yards on 12 receptions and two touchdowns for Buffalo. Caleb Heavener threw for 154 yards and a touchdown, and a D'Shawntae Jones ran for 117 yards on 12 carries for Miami. After Oliver Hautanen made a 27-yard field goal to give the Bulls (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American) a 34-31 lead in its half of the first overtime, Miami's Kellan McLaughlin missed a 45-yard field goal attempt to end the game. Wright's 2-yard touchdown run with 1:35 left in regulation ended a 12-play, 80-yard drive that brought Buffalo into a 31-all tie. Almost 7 1/2 minutes prior, Wright threw a 4-yard scoring pass to Chance Morrow to end an 11-play, 75-yard drive to get the Bulls within 31-24. Scoop Smith's 6-yard touchdown run with 12:01 remaining gave Miami (5-4, 3-2) its largest lead at 31-16. - AP College Football

  10/26 WEEK 8 MAC FOOTBALL CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Messiah Burch, Buffalo, Running Back, Senior. Staten Island, NY (Monsignor Farrell),...Messiah Burch rushed for a career-high 184 yards and three touchdowns in Buffalo's 31-24 win over Bowling Green. The senior running back scored on touchdown runs of 11, 2 and 73 yards. HIs 73-yard touchdown came in the fourth quarter to extend the Buffalo lead to 10-points and ice the game for the Bulls. It was Burch's fifth straight 100-yard rushing game - becoming the first UB running back since All-American Jaret Patterson in 2019 to rush for 100 yards in five straight games. - MAC Football

  10/19 WEEK 7 MAC FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Oliver Hautanen, Buffalo, Kicker, Sophomore, Colleyville, TX (Covenant Christian),...Oliver Hautanen was a perfect 3-for-3 on his field goal attempts in Buffalo's win over UMass. The sophomore kicker made field goals of 26, 33 and 29 yards. His third field goal was as time expired to tie the game and send it to overtime. Hautanen was 2-for-2 on PATs and all four of his kickoffs went for touchbacks. - MAC Football

  Chance Morrow caught his third touchdown pass from Elijah Holmes with 4:23 left in the game and the Buffalo Bulls beat the Albany Great Danes of the FCS 21-17 on Thursday night. Morrow finished with seven receptions for 48 yards for the Bulls (1-0). Holmes was 26-of-47 passing for 189 yards and hit Morrow for touchdowns of 9, 4 and 5 yards. Kickoff, which had originally been scheduled for 7 p.m. local time, was delayed about 2 3/4 hours due to inclement weather in the area. Rahshan La Mons ran for a 4-yard gain that made it second-and-goal from inside the 1 with 1:26 left, but a false start moved the Great Danes (1-1) back outside the 5. On fourth-and-goal, Stevie Bracey tackled Luke McAuliffe at the 3 to seal it.

Holmes led the Bulls on a 15-play, 75-yard drive that took more than 6 1/2 minutes off the clock and made it 7-7 when he hit Morrow for a 9-yard TD with 11:23 left in the first half. Morrow went up high over his defender to snatch a pass along the sideline from Holmes and got both feet down for a 4-yard touchdown that gave Buffalo a 14-7 lead with 2:46 remaining in the second quarter. Kai Colon threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Tavahri Groves to open the scoring with 3:02 left in the first quarter. Dana Johnson Jr.'s strip-sack of Holmes was recovered by Dorian Royal at the Buffalo 27, but the Great Danes settled for an apparent 44-yard field goal by Kocan. Buffalo was called for roughing the kicker and first-year Albany coach Tom Perkovich took a fresh set of downs and the points off the board. Two plays later, Justus Murray Jr. made a 14-yard touchdown catch to take a 17-14 lead with 3:23 to go in the third. He also had a forced fumble that the Bulls recovered, leading to a touchdown in the final seconds of the first half.   Victor Snow returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown, Red Murdock set an NCAA record for forced fumbles, and Buffalo defeated Bowling Green 28-3 on Saturday. Late in the second quarter, Murdock forced a fumble that was recovered by Buffalo's Jalen McNair and returned 20 yards to the Bowling Green 6-yard line. The Bulls cashed it in for a 21-0 halftime lead. Murdock's forced fumble was the 17th of his career, breaking the FBS record held by Khalil Mack, who also played for the Bulls.

Buffalo forced a three-and-out to open the third quarter and Snow's long punt return made it 28-0 early in the third. Al-Jay Henderson had 119 yards rushing, including a 41-yard TD run for Buffalo (5-4, 4-1 Mid-American Conference). Ta'Quan Roberson passed for 136 yards with 105 yards going to Nik McMillan. Murdock had 13 total tackles, including five solo stops. The Bulls held Bowling Green to 216 yards of offense.   Ta'Quan Roberson passed for a career-high 403 yards, firing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Victor Snow with 21 seconds left and Buffalo stunned Massachusetts 28-21 on Saturday after a late celebration penalty cost the Minutemen their first victory of the season. AJ Hairston threw two touchdown passes and UMass (0-7, 0-3 Mid-American Conference) led 21-20 after Jeremiah McGill picked off Roberson with 59 seconds remaining. But the Minutemen were flagged for celebrating the pick and had to start their drive at their 10-yard line instead of the 25. After two running plays lost 5 yards, Hairston threw incomplete and Buffalo (4-3, 3-0) got the ball back at midfield with 41 seconds left. Roberson hit Jasaiah Gathings for a 14- and 20-yard gains before Snow's go-ahead catch.

Kezion Dia-Johnson hauled in his first career touchdown pass on a 27-yard strike from Hairston and freshman Brandon Hood raced 90 yards for a touchdown on a first-down play as the Minutemen took a 14-3 second-quarter lead. Hood's scoring run was the longest for UMass since Tom Dicker had a 94-yarder against Boston University in 1996. Roberson connected with Snow for a 23-yard touchdown and Buffalo trailed 14-10 at halftime. The Bulls grabbed a 17-14 lead on Terrance Shelton Jr.'s 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Max Dowling caught a pass from Hairston, bounced off a tackler and rumbled down the sideline for a 77-yard score as the Minutemen moved in front 21-17 with their first second-half touchdown of the season. Jack Howes had a field goal hit the upright before going through with 25 seconds left to cut it to 21-20 heading to the final quarter. Roberson completed 36 of 55 passes - both career highs - with an interception. Nik McMilian and Snow combined for 18 catches and 231 yards. With the Bulls trailing 14-0 late in the half he connected with Nik McMillan on a 38-yard touchdown and then drove the Bulls back down the field for a field goal as time expired in the second quarter. He connected with Chance Morrow on 21-yard touchdown, early in the third quarter, to give the Bulls their first lead of the game. With the Bulls trailing 28-24 with 2:38 left in the game, Roberson marched the Bulls down the field and found Victor Snow for a touchdown with just 1:03 left to win it for the Bulls. He was disruptive the entire game and helped the Bulls erase a 14-0 deficit to defeat the Golden Flashes.   Ta'Quan Roberson passed for 318 yards and three touchdowns, including a 22-yarder to Victor Snow with 1:03 remaining in the fourth quarter, and Buffalo rallied to beat Kent State 31-28 on Saturday for its fifth straight Mid-American Conference victory. Buffalo (2-1) won its MAC opener for the fourth straight season. The Bulls improved to 8-2 in their last 10 trips to Dix Stadium. Kent State (1-2, 0-1) lost its 24th straight game against a FBS opponent. The Golden Flashes have also lost 17 straight conference games and 11 consecutive home games against MAC foes.

The Golden Flashes took a 28-24 lead with 2:37 remaining after a 22-play, 93-yard drive that took over 12 minutes off the clock. But Buffalo marched down the field in eight plays, covering 76 yards, ending on a third-and-10 play that saw Snow wide open near the goal line. Snow has a receiving touchdown in six straight regular-season games dating to last season - making him the first UB player to have a touchdown catch in each of the first three games of the season since Alex Neutz in 2012. Al-Jay Henderson, who had a career-high 185 yards rushing against Kent State last season, carried it 15 times for 75 yards and a touchdown for Buffalo. Nik McMillan made six catches for 111 yards and a score. Freshman Dru DeShields threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns in his first collegiate start for Kent State.   Ta'Quan Roberson ran for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead Buffalo to a 45-6 victory over Saint Francis on Saturday. Roberson was 10-of-20 passing for 133 yards and was intercepted once. Al-Jay Henderson rushed for two touchdowns and finished with 98 yards on 24 carries. Buffalo (1-1) had 503 yards offense and 32 first downs. The FCS Red Flash (0-2) had 126 yards offense, just 11 on the ground.

Connor Henderson blocked a punt in the first minute to set up Roberson's 17-yard TD pass to Victor Snow and Henderson added his two touchdowns of 1 and 10 yards as the Bulls rolled to a 24-0 halftime lead. Roberson rushed for his touchdowns in the final five minutes of the third quarter, breaking through the middle for a 40-yard score and scoring on a 4-yarder. The graduate linebacker finished with 11 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and an interception. He helped bottled up All-American running back Jamar Curtis, holding him to only 12 yards on 14 carries.   C.J. Ogbonna threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns in his first start at quarterback for Buffalo, Jacqez Barksdale added 99 yards rushing and a score, and the Bulls beat Lafayette 30-13 on Thursday night for the program's first win under new head coach Pete Lembo. Buffalo won its home opener for the first time in three seasons. Buffalo led 16-0 at halftime. Al-Jay Henderson opened the scoring on an 11-yard run and Ogbonna connected with Nik McMillan for a 31-yard score. Lafayette pulled within 23-13 early in the fourth following an 11-play scoring drive and Buffalo fumbled the ensuing kickoff. The Leopards took over at the 18-yard line but couldn't take advantage as Jack Simonetta missed a 31-yard field goal.

Shaun Dolac, who finished with six solo tackles for Buffalo, made an interception with 5:31 left in the fourth and Jacqez Barksdale followed one play later with a 19-yard touchdown run for a 17-point lead. McMillan finished with five catches for 76 yards for Buffalo, which is returning seven starters on defense and three starters on offense from last season. Jamar Curtis, the Patriot League preseason offensive player of the year after rushing for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns last season, was held to 12 yards on 14 carries for Lafayette. - AP College Football

  The University at Buffalo football team will kick off its 2023 Mid-American Conference schedule during the second week of conference play, but will also play in four midweek games in the final four weeks of the regular season. The MAC released its football schedule Wednesday morning, and the Bulls will open their conference schedule Sept. 30 at Akron, then host Central Michigan on Oct. 7 at UB Stadium. The MAC will open its conference schedule with two games Sept. 23: Ohio at Bowling Green and Western Michigan at Toledo. The Bulls are playing four nonconference games in the first four weeks of the season: the season opener Sept. 2 at Wisconsin, its home opener Sept. 9 at UB Stadium against FCS opponent Fordham, Sept. 15 against Liberty and Sept. 23 at Louisiana. - Buffalo News
