  09/27/25 - Sawyer Robertson, rSr/2026, Baylor, 6-4, 216 (DS#7 QB) + More +

Sawyer Robertson passed for 393 yards and four touchdowns, and Baylor ruined Oklahoma State's first game without Mike Gundy as head coach in more than 20 years with a 45-27 victory on Saturday. Robertson threw each of his touchdown passes to a different player and also ran for a score. Josh Cameron caught six passes for 98 yards for the Bears (3-2, 1-1 Big 12), who gained 612 total yards. Zane Flores passed for 232 yards for Oklahoma State, which lost its first game under interim coach Doug Meacham. Trent Howland had career highs of 84 yards and two touchdowns rushing for the Cowboys (1-3, 0-1).

Despite the loss, it was a significant improvement for the Cowboys, whose previous losses were 69-3 to Oregon and 19-12 to Tulsa. The Cowboys posted a season-high 448 yards. Oklahoma State showed early that it planned to open things up. The Cowboys scored their first points of Meacham's tenure on a double pass. Receiver Sam Jackson V completed a 26-yard touchdown pass to Josh Ford that tied the game at 7 in the first quarter. Robertson threw three touchdown passes in the first half to help Baylor take a 28-20 lead at the break, despite Oklahoma State outgaining the Bears 349 yards to 285. Howland added to his career day by throwing a 13-yard completion, then running in from a yard out on the next play to cut Baylor's lead to 35-27 in the third. That was the closest Oklahoma State would get. - Baylor/AP College Football

  09/21/25 - DJ Lagway, Jr/2028, Baylor, 6-3, 241 (DS#11 QB) + More +

The Florida Gators shuffled into the visitor's locker room at Hard Rock Stadium, mostly quiet, some with their heads bowed. Running back Jadan Baugh, who scored Florida's only touchdown, paused before entering the locker room and shook his head, still absorbing the sting of Saturday's 26-7 loss to No. 4 Miami - a game in which the Gators struggled offensively and failed to capitalize on an uneven offensive performance by the Hurricanes. The scene seemed to encapsulate what has been a dreadful season for Florida, which is off to its worst start (1-3) in 39 years despite a talented roster that many picked to be a formidable competitor this season in the Southeastern Conference. The Gators have hardly looked the part in the first four games of the season, which have featured a rout of Long Island University, a collapse against South Florida in a game they were heavily favored, and road losses to No. 3 LSU and Miami. T "We've got work to do," said embattled Florida coach Billy Napier, whose record with the Gators fell to 20-22.

Florida's only scoring drive came on the first possession of the third quarter, when quarterback D.J. Lagway extended the drive with a fourth-down run and Baugh capped it off with a 2-yard rushing touchdown. Lagway, Florida's sophomore quarterback who was 6-1 as a starter in 2024, was 12 of 23 for only 61 yards and no touchdown passes. "It's very frustrating," Lagway said. "We've got to clean a lot of things up. That's nowhere near the brand of football wen want to play." Lagway added that improvement starts with him. He admitted Saturday wasn't his best performance, noting that he just took what the defense gave him and only managed the game. "I'm going to demand greatness from everybody," Lagway said. "We're done with the playing around stuff. It's time to get serious. And it starts with me. I've got to set the tempo. I set the tone - in practice, in meetings, everywhere. So I know for a fact that it's going to change because it starts with me." - AP College Football

  09/15/25 - Palmer Williams, Sr/2027, Baylor, 6-2, 201 (DS#2 P) + More +

WEEK 3 BIG 12 CO-SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Palmer Williams, P, Baylor,...The Preseason All-Big 12 selection at punter, Williams picked up his weekly honor following his performance versus Samford. He booted four times with an average of 48.5 yards per punt, including a pair inside the 20-yard line. His average was fourth best in FBS for the week, and his punt from 59 yards out was the 31st punt of 50 or more yards of his career. - Big 12 Football

  09/15/25 - DJ Lagway, Jr/2028, Baylor, 6-3, 241 (DS#11 QB) + More +

Florida quarterback DJ Lagway has gone from appearing rusty to looking lost. It's not what anyone envisioned even though he missed nearly nine months dealing with various injuries. He is dancing in the pocket, leading to off-balance throws that end up sailing over receivers or spinning into the ground. He is failing to get through his progressions, allowing defenders to lock onto his first read. He is lacking situational awareness - when to audible, when to run and when to slide - and showing little feel for the game. He is still coach Billy Napier's guy, and that is unlikely to change. Napier is sticking with his turnover-prone starter despite a five-interception performance in a 20-10 loss at No. 3 LSU on Saturday night.

"DJ's our quarterback," said Napier, now 20-21 in four seasons at Florida. "He's one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He made some good decisions, but he also made some bad decisions." Lots of them. The sophomore threw an interception in every quarter in Death Valley, including back-to-back picks on Florida's final two drives while trailing by 10. The fourth one came with the Gators in field-goal range and prompted a lengthy sideline discussion with Napier. "I'm just excited to get back to work," said Lagway, who was making his first road start in Southeastern Conference play. "I got to get this taste out of my mouth. I played horrible football, and I got to do better." Lagway couldn't recall ever turning over the ball five times in a game before Saturday. Not in high school. Not in peewee football. Not in his backyard. "I've never had a performance like that in my life, so it's kind of hard to process it," he said. "But at the end of the day, it's all about how you bounce back and how you respond. And I'm planning on doing so." The Gators, who have now lost consecutive games in each of Napier's four seasons, play at rival and fourth-ranked Miami (3-0) on Saturday night. Florida is winless in eight road games against ranked teams during Napier's tenure. - AP College Football

  09/13/25 - Sawyer Robertson, rSr/2026, Baylor, 6-4, 216 (DS#7 QB) + More +

Bryson Washington ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns, Sawyer Robertson threw three TD passes while going over 1,000 yards passing for the season and Baylor finished non-conference play with a 42-7 win over FCS opponent Samford on Saturday. Baylor (2-1) blocked a punt on the opening possession that led to Washington's powerful 2-yard plunge, and the Bears were up 14-0 only 5 1/2 minutes into the game after Robertson's 10-yard TD pass to Josh Cameron. The Bears led 35-7 at halftime after touchdowns on their final three drives, two set up by turnovers.

Robertson completed 23 of 37 passes for 211 yards, but also threw his first two interceptions. He has 1,070 yards and 10 touchdowns passing overall. Samford (0-3) was within 14-7 after scoring on a double pass, when Torrey Ward caught running back CJ Evans' wobbly, shotput-like 12-yard throw right at the goal line late in the first quarter. The Bulldogs got the ball right back, at the Baylor 24 after Lashon Young had the first interception on Robertson's 108th pass attempt this season. But Samford gave the ball back four plays later with a fumble at the end of a completion, leading to the first of those three consecutive Baylor TD drives. - Baylor/AP College Football

  09/06/25 - Sawyer Robertson, rSr/2026, Baylor, 6-4, 216 (DS#7 QB) + More +

Baylor freshman Connor Hawkins kicked a 27-yard field goal in the second overtime after Sawyer Robertson threw two of his four touchdowns in the final 5 1/2 minutes of regulation as the Bears rallied to beat 17th-ranked SMU 48-45 on Saturday. Robertson was 34-of-50 passing with 440 yards for the Bears (1-1), who have won 14 meetings in a row against their former Southwest Conference rival since 1986. Bryson Washington ran for 115 yards and two scores, including a 2-yard TD in the first overtime. Collin Rogers was well short on a 57-yard field goal attempt at the end of regulation, then was wide right on a 38-yard try when SMU (1-1) had the ball first in the second overtime period.

Kevin Jennings threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns, with two 75-yard scores and then a 25-yarder to Romello Brinson on the Mustangs' first play in overtime. Brinson had one of the 75-yarders on the first play of the game, and Jennings hit freshman Jalen Cooper in stride for the other long score when he got open behind the secondary late in the second quarter. While the schools are only about 100 miles apart, this was only the seventh time they played since the SWC broke up after the 1995 season. It was the first since 2016. - Baylor/AP College Football

  08/30/25 - DJ Lagway, Jr/2028, Baylor, 6-3, 241 (DS#11 QB) + More +

DJ Lagway threw three touchdown passes, Jadan Baugh ran for 104 yards and a score, and No. 15 Florida opened the season with a 55-0 drubbing of Long Island on Saturday night. The Gators ended their first eight drives with either a field-goal attempt or an extra point. More than anything, though, facing an overmatched team from the Football Championship Subdivision provided coach Billy Napier with a chance to get Lagway live repetitions for the first time since a December bowl game.

Lagway missed months of work following core-muscle surgery, a sore throwing shoulder and, most recently, a strained left calf. He was cleared to fully practice last week and looked a little rusty against the Sharks. He was sacked on Florida's first play and threw two errant passes early. But he settled down and showed plenty of promise in the rout. The sophomore completed 15 of 18 passes for 120 yards, with TD passes to Eugene Wilson III, Hayden Hansen and J. Michael Sturdivant. Lagway's night ended at halftime, with the Gators leading 38-0. The score would have been more lopsided, but Trey Smack missed two field goals and Florida failed to convert four third downs. Long Island never came close to scoring. The Sharks managed two first downs and finished with more penalty yards (100) than total yards (86). - Florida/AP College Football

  02/26/23 - Issac Power, rSr/2023, Baylor, 6-2, 206 (DS#19 P) + More +

On Saturday, Baylor punter Issac Power announced on his personal Twitter account that he intends to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft. Power, a fifth-year senior in 2022, had the option to return for a sixth season as a result of the COVID-19 shortened 2020. With Power's decision to test his chances at the next-level, the Bears will be forced to find another option. In 2022, Power was named an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 by the league head coaches. The Castle Rock, Colo. native served as the primary punter in all 13 games this past year and will go down as one of the best punters in program history.

Power finished his career ranked among the program leaders in punts (fifth; 216), punting yards (fifth; 9,000), yards per punt (ninth; 41.67), 50-yard punts (fifth; 43) and 60-yard punts (eighth; six). He was named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List ahead of the 2022 season and was also a preseason All-Big 12 Third-Team by Phil Steele and All-Big 12 Fourth Team by Athlon. In addition to being the holder for field goals, Power punted 41 times for 1,702 yards, which was good for a 41.6-yard average. In 2022, he had 12 punts fair caught, 15 downed inside the 20-yard line and six go for 50 or more yards. - Dallas Morning News

  02/06/23 - Sawyer Robertson, rSr/2026, Baylor, 6-4, 216 (DS#7 QB) + More +

Twenty-one new Baylor football players have enrolled for the spring semester including 11 transfers and 10 high school signees. The 21 players are among 32 new players that have signed with the Bears for the 2023 season. The 11 remaining players will join the program this summer. Prominent among the transfers starting this spring is former Mississippi State quarterback Sawyer Robertson, who will battle returning junior Blake Shapen for the starting job.

Robertson was a four-star quarterback at Lubbock Coronado, where he was a three-year starter who threw for 12,256 yards and 146 touchdowns while completing 64 percent of his passes before graduating in 2021. "It's huge getting back to Texas," said Robertson after announcing his transfer in early January. "There's a lot of history at Baylor and they've had a lot of success, especially recent history. It's a great opportunity and I really like the coaching staff." Former BYU offensive linemen Campbell Barrington and Clark Barrington, Arkansas wide receiver Ketron Jackson, Northern Arizona quarterback RJ Martinez, North Texas tight end Jake Roberts, and Oklahoma State running back Dominic Richardson round out the offensive transfers. - Waco Tribune Herald

  01/12/23 - Sawyer Robertson, rSr/2026, Baylor, 6-4, 216 (DS#7 QB) + More +

When Sawyer Robertson saw that Baylor was looking for a quarterback, he already knew the Bears ran an NFL-style offense and that Waco was a lot closer to home than Starkville, Mississippi. After he visited Baylor last weekend, he was convinced he had found a new home. Robertson committed to Baylor late Tuesday night and plans to arrive on campus during the upcoming weekend to begin spring semester classes. Coming off a CFP championship game appearance, TCU was also a potential transfer destination. Robertson will have three years of eligibility remaining at Baylor "It was a combination of things and a very tough choice, but I went to Baylor's campus and really liked it," Robertson said. "There's a lot of history at Baylor and they've had a lot of success, especially recent history. It's a great opportunity and I really like the coaching staff."

Starting quarterback Blake Shapen will be back for his junior year at Baylor, and Robertson will compete for the starting job this spring. In his first year as a full-time starter, Shapen had his ups and downs in 2022 as he completed 63.3 percent for 2,790 yards and 18 touchdowns with 10 interceptions as the Bears finished 6-7. "I know Blake is a really talented guy and I'm looking forward to working with him and learning from him and getting to know each other better," Robertson said. The Bears were in dire need for another quarterback after redshirt freshman Kyron Drones transferred to Virginia Tech after the season and Dripping Springs quarterback Austin Novosad switched from Baylor to Oregon on the Dec. 21 signing day. - Dallas Morning News
