  2023 GREAT MIDWEST SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR: DEZMIN LYBURTUS - Return Specialist, Junior - Ashland University,...The No. 10 kickoff returner in NCAA Division II, Lyburtus finished the regular season averaging 27.7 yards on 18 returns, including a 90-yard touchdown at Ohio Dominican on Sept. 30. That average is the best for an Eagle in a single season since Anthony Capasso's average of 30.7 in 2010. Lyburtus also caught 66 passes for 780 yards and 10 touchdowns during the regular season, and added 47 yards and a touchdown rushing. His 1,325 all-purpose yards are the most for an Eagle since Gei'vonni Washington's 1,453 in 2019, and his reception total ranks No. 5 in program history. - Ashland Football

  2022 GREAT MIDWEST PLAYER OF THE YEAR: MICHAEL AYERS, Linebacker, Senior, Ashland University,...The Great Midwest Player of the Year was announced as Ashland's Michael Ayers (Columbus, Ohio/Walnut Ridge HS). Ayers was the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year and returned this fall after being third in tackles last season. He registered 62 tackles this season, including 38 solo tackles. The Columbus, Ohio led a defense that allowed opponents to average 14.4 points per game.   2019 AFCA DIVISION II COACHES' SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: LB Clay Shreve, Sr., Ashland (Ohio),...As a senior captain and the Eagles' top defensive leader throughout 2019, Shreve recorded a team-high 96 total tackles (36 solo) and 8½ tackles for loss, while adding a half-sack and a fumble recovery. Shreve is one of 35 Cliff Harris Award finalists in NCAA Division II, and 95 across the country. Earlier this offseason, Shreve earned first-team Academic All-America laurels from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and was named second-team American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' All-America, first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and CoSIDA Academic All-District. He ended the year with eight consecutive 100-yard rushing games, becoming the first Eagle to accomplish the feat since D.J. McCoy in 2010, and set a new program record for most rushing yards in a season by a rookie.
