  04/06/20 - Cody GracerSr/2020, Arkansas State, 6-2, 228 (DS#14 P) + More +

ASU's pro day, originally slated for March 20, was postponed -- although it's doubtful that it will be made up -- a private workout that Grace had scheduled with an NFL team was canceled, and ASU's weight room inside the team's north end zone facility at Centennial Bank Stadium has closed, all a result of concerns over the coronavirus as the sports world has undergone a shutdown over the last few weeks. Losing the pro day was the biggest setback. It's the rare opportunity for NFL scouts, coaches and executives to come to campus and see the school's pro hopefuls work out. For a player like Grace -- whose position is a specialist, who played for a non-Power 5 program and who wasn't afforded the chance to compete in postseason all-star games or the NFL Draft Combine -- any added NFL exposure you can attract is a benefit.

And had the pro day taken place, it could have potentially led to a few more private workouts with teams. "We [were] kind of riding on how many teams that would have the opportunity to come to pro day," Grace said. "For me personally, I think it would have been nice to have that little bit of extra exposure since we are a small school and don't get that opportunity and didn't get the opportunity to have a pro day. But I think again, it just comes down to the film. "If what you do live and against another team and you do well, I think they're gonna give you the best shot to prove yourself." In three seasons at ASU, Grace did plenty to prove he was one of the nation's best punters. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Bayless has set the single-season Arkansas State and Sun Belt records for receiving yards and touchdowns and 100-yard receiving games (7). His 84 catches stand as the third most in school history.   Mike Norvell is Florida State's new coach, taking over a Seminoles program that has struggled while he was helping to build Memphis into a Group of Five power. Florida State made it official Sunday with an announcement and a news conference was scheduled for noon in Tallahassee, Florida. Norvell will replace Willie Taggart, fired Nov. 3 by Florida State after going 9-12 as head coach. The Seminoles, who won the 2013 national title, finished the season becoming bowl eligible at 6-6 under interim coach Odell Haggins.

Norvell will leave Memphis having posted the highest winning percentage in Tigers’ history. He built on the foundation left by Justin Fuente when he left the Tigers for Virginia Tech and he led the Tigers to the first 12-win season in school history. Named Memphis' head Dec. 4, 2015, Norvell won at least eight games in each of his four years here and reached double digits twice, including this year. Memphis wrapped up its program-record 12th victory at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium on Saturday in the American Athletic Conference championship win over Cincinnati. Fans stood and cheered as the confetti flew, including one Memphis fan who kept repeating to himself that he hoped Norvell would announce he was staying. - AP College Football
