Memphis football defensive back Carlito Gonzalez and quarterback Markevion Quinn, both juniors, are no longer with the team, coach Ryan Silverfield said Tuesday. According to the Shelby County Criminal Justice System Portal, Gonzalez was arrested Oct. 17 and charged with aggravated stalking, a felony, and two related misdemeanors. The Memphis athletic department said in a follow-up statement that Gonzalez "has not been a part of the Memphis program since before the season started. He has not been part of the program even before our first game."

Gonzalez, who transferred from Auburn in 2017, played 11 games for the Tigers last season, including the Cotton Bowl loss to Penn State. In three seasons, he had 25 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble in 21 games. Quinn, the Tigers' third-string quarterback, has not said publicly if he's opted out of the season and Silverfield did not elaborate further. Quinn wasn't on the roster ahead of the team's game at Cincinnati last week. He transferred to Memphis in June 2018 following a season at Pearl River Community College (Miss.) and after redshirting due to an ACL injury, he played in two games last season. - Memphis Commercial Appeal

  06/26/20 - Aaron AllenrSr/2024, Alcorn State, 6-1, 200 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Louisiana Tech had one of Conference USA's best seasons in 2019, based on a balanced attack that featured power and a quick-strike ability. If not for a two-game slide that included player suspensions, the Bulldogs likely would have won Conference USA's West Division. While coach Skip Holtz still has plenty of talent in Ruston, there are some definite needs if the Bulldogs want to again reach the 10-win plateau. Most notably, Louisiana Tech has to find a quarterback after the graduation of J'Mar Smith. Smith threw for 2,977 yards and 18 touchdowns with only five interceptions last season and spread the ball around well with four receivers having 40 catches or more. His replacement likely will be either Aaron Allen or Westin Elliott, each of whom saw action in six games last season. Allen got the starting nod when Smith got suspended prior to the Marshall game. He went 19 of 32 for 159 yards against the Thundering Herd in a 31-10 loss. - Charleston Gazette

I am excited for what's to come." The 6-foot-1,190-pound Bolar battled through injuries during his sophomore season, but made six starts, registering 11 receptions for 79 yards. Bolar's most productive game was in a 24-7 loss at South Carolina when he caught three passes for 16 yards. Over the course of a healthier freshman year, Bolar was third on the team with 34 catches, which also tied him fourth all-time for receptions among Vanderbilt freshmen. He had 440 receiving yards and two touchdowns. - The Tennessean
