  Marcus Harris II had three touchdown runs to lead Alabama State to a 42-24 victory over Texas Southern on Saturday night. Harris' 13-yard touchdown run gave Alabama State (7-2, 5-1 Southwestern Conference) a 21-17 lead midway through the second quarter. He then scored on 3-yard runs to cap back-to-back drives to give the Hornets 35-24 lead with 10:46 remaining. Ta'Shaun Sims capped the scoring late in the fourth with a 75-yard touchdown return from a blocked field-goal attempt.

Te'Sean Smoot threw an 87-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Jones on the Hornets' first play from scrimmage. Nehemiah Hixon had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter. Smoot completed 9 of 13 passes for 215 yards. Jones finished with 148 yards receiving on three receptions. Harris had four carries for 21 yards rushing. KJ Cooper was 25-of-35 passing for 220 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes for Texas Southern (4-5, 3-3).   Marcus Harris II had two rushing touchdowns, Jamarie Hostzclaw ran for 127 yards, and Deontre Morris had two interceptions in a 31-28 win for Alabama State over Prairie View A&M on Saturday. Prairie View's Cameron Peters had 106 rushing yards, and threw for 189 yards and three passing touchdowns, but was intercepted four times over the span of five drives between the second and third quarters. Two of those drives turned into a field goal and a second touchdown from Harris, which made it 24 unanswered points for the Hornets (6-2, 4-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Detrick Jones and Drake Johnson also had interceptions.

The Panthers (6-3, 4-1 SWAC) had an opportunity to tie the game on the final drive, but Denzel Johnson tackled Rodny Ojo in the backfield for a loss of 5. It set up a 53-yard missed field goal by Diego Alfaro. Chase Bingmon led the Panthers with 118 rushing yards and a touchdown. Alabama State quarterback Andrew Body suffered an injury to his right arm after extending the ball over the goal line for his second rushing touchdown of the day with 5:50 left in the first half.   Andrew Body accounted for six total touchdowns and Alabama State as a team ran for just more than 300 yards and the Hornets crushed Alabama A&M 56-13 on Saturday. Body completed 19 of 24 passes for 304 yards and threw all his touchdowns before halftime. Body, who also ran for 66 yards on seven carries, scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown with 1:52 left before halftime to make it a 42-6 lead. Body threw 5- and 16-yard touchdowns to Dylan Creech, two more covering 17 and 8 yards to Marcus Harris II and an 18-yarder to Dylan Djete in succession for a 35-6 advantage.

Following his rushing touchdown, Body threw a 59-yard score to Jalen Jones with 29 seconds remaining before halftime. Jones finished with 101 yards receiving on seven catches. Jahbari Kuykendall led the Hornets (5-2, 3-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) rushing attack with 101 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. Alabama State ran it 40 times for 303 yards. JD Davis II threw for 88 yards and a touchdown and Maurice Edwards IV ran for a score for Alabama A&M (4-4, 1-3). - AP College Football

  Jamarie Hostzclaw ran for 135 yards, Marcus Harris II had three touchdown runs, and Alabama State defeated Florida A&M 42-14 on Saturday in the Southwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The Hornets led 14-6 at halftime and began to put the game away in the third quarter when Andrew Body and Jalen Jones connected on a 39-yard touchdown for a 21-6 lead. Later in the third, Harris punched it in with a 3-yard run up the middle for a 28-6 lead. Harris added a 24-yard touchdown run to make it 35-6.

Body threw two touchdown passes and was 10-of-18 passing for 106 yards for the Hornets (3-1). RJ Johnson III threw for 133 yards and ran for 58 yards for the Rattlers (1-3). This was the 42nd meeting between the two teams but only the fifth as members of the SWAC. Alabama State ended a five-game losing streak in the series and defeated Rattlers coach Eddie Robinson Jr. for the first time. The series is tied 20-20-2. - AP College Football

  Andrew Body threw four first-half touchdown passes to help Alabama State beat Division-II Miles College 37-9 on Saturday. Body was 14-of-16 passing for 251 yards and added a game-high 60 yards rushing on seven carries. Jalen Jones had four receptions for 118 yards with TDs of 35 and 61 yards for Alabama State (2-1). Body hit Ajai Harrell for a 40-yard touchdown early in the second quarter and his 15-yarder to Dylan Djete made it 31-3 with 54 seconds left in the first half. Andrew Abu-Akel kicked field goals of 25 and 46 yards in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring. Body was 16-of-25 passing for 198 yards. Brandon Gilliam made 3 of 4 field goals including a 47-yarder for the Hornets. Cam'Ron McCoy threw a touchdown pass to Cam Jefferson in the third quarter for Southern (1-2). McCoy finished 14-of-29 passing for 160 yards, threw two interceptions and added 55 yards on the ground on 11 carries.   2022 ALL-SIAC CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: LB Jalil Lenore, Central State, R-Freshman, Chicago, IL,...Lenore led the SIAC and ranked fifth in NCAA Div. II in tackles with 113. In his first game as a Marauder, Lenore earned the Defensive MVP in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic. The 6-2, freshman linebacker from Chicago, Illinois, went on to record 10 or more tackles in nine of ten games.   Andrew Body threw two touchdown passes - including a 65-yarder to AJ Bennett - and Texas Southern breezed to a 41-7 victory over Grambling on Saturday night. LaDarius Owens gave Texas Southern (5-5, 4-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a 1-yard scoring run. Freshman Julian Calvez fired a 37-yard scoring strike to Joshua Johnson four minutes later to pull Grambling (3-7, 2-5) even.

Body needed just 1:48 to march 54 yards, hitting Tavaris Achane for a 15-yard touchdown with 23 seconds left in the period. Body's long touchdown pass to Bennett was the only score of the second quarter and the Tigers took a 21-7 lead into intermission. Isaiah Hamilton picked off a Quaterius Hawkins pass and returned it 12 yards for a score and Kevin Harris added a 1-yard touchdown run with five seconds left in the third quarter to put Texas Southern up 33-7. Daveon Ford scored from a yard out on a fourth-quarter run to end the scoring. Body completed 13 of 20 passes for 190 yards. Owens carried 13 times for 105 yards.
