  11/17/19 - Donald Hammond IIISr/2021, Air Force, 6-0, 228 (DS#24 QB) + More +

Donald Hammond III ran for a touchdown and threw for three more, including a go-ahead 50-yard pass to Geraud Sanders early in the fourth quarter as Air Force shook off an early two-touchdown deficit to beat Colorado State 38-21 on Saturday night. Sanders came open on a short crossing route and Hammond hit him in stride, allowing the receiver to break up field along the left sideline and then cut back all the way across the field, outrunning his pursuers to the goal line. The score was part of a string of 24 straight points for Air Force (8-2, 5-1 Mountain West), which won its fifth straight. It's the longest winning streak for the Falcons since closing the 2016 season with six consecutive victories.

Hammond added a 28-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin Waters later in the fourth quarter after earlier hitting him with a 31-yard score. Patrick O'Brien threw for two touchdowns, including a 17-yard score to Dante Wright with 6:36 remaining that pulled the Rams (4-6, 3-3) within three points. But the Falcons responded by grinding out another scoring drive that Hammond capped with a 1-yard run with 2:32 left to play. The Rams mounted another drive that reached the Air Force 1, but cornerback Zane Lewis stepped in front of O'Brien's goal-line pass and returned the interception 99 yards for a touchdown to seal the Falcons' fourth win in a row against the Rams. - Air Force/AP College Football

  11/02/19 - Mosese FifitaSr/2020, Air Force, 6-1, 319 (DS#39 DT) + More +

The goal-line stand by Air Force at the start set the tone. The one at the end clinched it. Defense ruled the day. Air Force turned in a goal-line stand in the final minute as the Falcons beat service academy rival Army 17-13 on Saturday. "It definitely means the world to me," Falcons senior cornerback Zane Lewis said. The Black Knights were well positioned with a first-and-goal at the 7 after a long pass play by starting quarterback Jabari Laws. One wrinkle: Laws got hurt on the 31-yard play. He had to be helped off the field after taking a wallop from Air Force defensive lineman Jordan Jackson, who was called for targeting and ejected from the game.

Kelvin Hopkins Jr. was summoned from the sideline. Usually the starter, he's been banged up and didn't practice. Laws started in his place because coach Jeff Monken wasn't sure if he was healthy enough to make it the entire way. Hopkins threw an incompletion on first down, ran for 2 yards on second, nearly completed a third-down attempt in the end zone -- it was broken up by Lewis -- and overthrew his intended target on fourth down with 33 seconds remaining. With that, the Falcons (7-2) snapped a two-game skid against Army (3-6). "I thought the guys made a heck of an effort to get it down there," Monken said. "Ultimately we didn't make the plays that they did." - Air Force/AP College Football

  10/27/19 - Kadin RemsbergrSr/2022, Air Force, 5-09, 180 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Timothy Jackson has been at the forefront of Air Force's punishing ground game. Jackson ran for 148 yards and a touchdown, Kadin Remsberg added a pair of scoring runs and Air Force shut down Utah State 31-7 on Saturday night. Jackson reached 100 yards for the third straight game to become the first Air Force running back to accomplish the feat since Cody Getz had three 100-yard rushing games in a row during the 2012 season. "I just want to keep it going," Jackson said. "It's a testament to our offensive line, and our coaches, trusting in me to keep moving the rock. Even though we've been doing good every week, we've still got a lot to improve on, so we're just trying to get better and better."

Taven Birdow also had a touchdown run for Air Force (6-2, 4-1 Mountain West), which became bowl eligible after its third straight victory. Quarterback Donald Hammond III suffered a lower leg injury at the end of a run on the first play of the game but returned to play most of the game. He finished with 69 yards on nine carries and completed one of his five passes for 16 yards. Jordan Love threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Siaosi Mariner but Utah State (4-3, 3-1) could not avoid its first loss to a conference foe this season. Love finished 14 of 23 for 114 yards as the Aggies struggled to get their offense on track against the Falcons defense while the Utah State defense could not contain the Falcons' relentless running attack. - Air Force/AP College Football

  10/20/19 - Geraud SandersSr/2020, Air Force, 6-2, 210 (DS#107 WR) + More +

Mike Schmidt came off the bench to account for four touchdowns and Air Force beat Hawaii 56-21 on Saturday night. The Falcons (5-2, 3-1 Mountain West), who had 324 total yards by halftime, scored touchdowns on their first four possessions and seven of 10 overall. Schmidt, a senior quarterback with just three carries for 28 yards in five career games prior to Saturday, relieved starter Donald Hammond III, who left the game midway through Air Force's first possession after falling on his right (throwing) shoulder.

Schmidt rushed for 120 yards on 14 carries, including scores of 1, 61 and 18 yards. He also completed 5 of 6 passes for 147 yards, with a 75-yard TD pass to Geraud Sanders, who finished with three receptions for 116 yards. Timothy Jackson ran for 113 yards and a touchdown and Kadin Remsberg added 91 yards and two scores on the ground for the Falcons. Cole McDonald threw for 404 yards and three touchdowns on 34-of-52 passing with one interception -- which Milton Bugg III returned for a 92-yard pick-6 in the closing minutes. - Air Force/AP College Football

  09/14/19 - Kadin RemsbergrSr/2022, Air Force, 5-09, 180 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Kadin Remsberg scored on a 25-yard run to start overtime Saturday and Air Force beat Colorado 30-23 after squandering a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter. Remsberg took a pitch, scampered down the sideline and dove into the end zone for the go-ahead score. The Falcons defense went to work and on fourth down forced Steven Montez to throw wide to Laviska Shenault Jr. in the corner of the end zone. The Falcons (2-0) stormed the field in the first meeting between the schools since 1974. "We want to be the kings of Colorado," said Remsberg, whose team plays at Colorado State on Nov. 16. "That's how we look at it."

The Falcons rushed for 289 yards and overcame three turnovers to snap a five-game skid against the Buffaloes (2-1). It's their first win over Colorado since Nov. 23, 1968, at Folsom Field. It was another furious finish for the Buffaloes, who trailed 23-10 with 10:23 remaining. The Buffaloes came back from a 17-point deficit to beat Nebraska 34-31 in OT a week ago in Boulder. This marked the first time in Colorado history the team has played in back-to-back overtimes. - AP College Football

  08/31/19 - Donald Hammond IIISr/2021, Air Force, 6-0, 228 (DS#24 QB) + More +

Air Force was in no rush to pass. So the Falcons just rushed their way to a runaway win. Donald Hammond III scored three of Air Force's seven rushing touchdowns and the Falcons ran their record to 24-0 against teams from the Football Championship Subdivision by beating Colgate 48-7 on Saturday. Kadin Remsberg added two scores for Air Force, which moved to 13-0 in season openers under coach Troy Calhoun. The Falcons didn't throw a pass until the third quarter - their only attempt of the game. There was no need to air it out as they amassed 423 yards on the ground. Fullback Taven Birdow gained 80 yards to lead a balanced rushing attack.

"We were more physical than them. They weren't ready for us to be physical with them," Hammond said. "They were playing kind of soft so we shoved it down their throat." With lightning in the area at halftime, the crowd was encouraged to head to their cars and wait out the approximately 30-minute delay. Many didn't return with the score already 35-0. Air Force's defense did its part with an interception, fumble recovery, two sacks and a fourth-down stop. It all added up to a long afternoon for Colgate (0-2), the preseason pick to win the Patriot League. Quarterback Grant Breneman and the Raiders avoided a shutout late in the third when Breneman found Nick Gill for a 13-yard score. - AP College Football
