09/07 WEEK 1 BIG SKY SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mason Lindberg, Idaho State (K, So., Mesa, Ariz.),...Idaho State's Mason Lindberg was perfect in the Bengals' 29-17 upset of FBS foe Utah State this past Saturday, as the sophomore connected on all five of his field goal attempts and both of his PATs to account for 17 of 29 points in the victory. Lindberg made kicks of 28, 48, 25, 43, and 41 yards on the day. The attempt from 48 yards was a career best for the sophomore. The five made field goals are the most for a Big Sky kicker since 2024. 09/07 WEEK 1 BIG SKY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nate Bell, Eastern Washington (QB, R-Jr., Brentwood, Calif.),...Eastern Washington's Nate Bell led the Eagles to their first win of the season, defeating Missouri Valley foe Northern Iowa at home on Saturday, 34-24. Bell accounted for all five of EWU's touchdowns in Saturday's win, passing for two scores and rushing for three. The Eagle quarterback passed for 257 yards, completing 24-of-33 of his attempts for a 72.7% on the day. Bell rushed the ball 18 times for 94 yards, averaging 5.2 yards per attempt. Bell's 15-yard touchdown pass to Jamai East with 3:16 remaining in the game put EWU up 34-24 and sealed the home win for the Eagles. 09/07 WEEK 1 BIG SKY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tre Shorty, Idaho State (DB, So., Gilbert, Ariz.),...Idaho State's Tre Shorty turned in a signature defensive performance in the Bengals' 29-17 upset of FBS foe Utah State this past Saturday, intercepting two passes late in the game to help seal the victory. Shorty picked off his first pass with 26 seconds left in the third quarter, returning it 42 yards to set up Idaho State's go-ahead touchdown that put the Bengals ahead 26-17 early in the fourth quarter. Shorty's second interception of the day game on the final drive for the Aggies, as he picked off a desperate heave at the one-yard line with just four seconds remaining. Shorty also had a forced fumble and three tackles on the night to contribute to Idaho State's 29-17 victory at Utah State. 09/07 WEEK 1 NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Benjamin Newman, Wagner, Quarterback, Redshirt Freshman, 6-2, 210 lbs., East Rochester, NY/East Rochester,...Last Week's Stats: 23-33 completions, 267 passing yards, 3 touchdown throws, 0 interceptions,...Newman guided Wagner to its first victory of 2026 in his first career start against Southern Connecticut on Saturday. The redshirt freshman and East Rochester, NY native completed 23-of-33 passes while registering 267 yards through the air and a trio of touchdowns. Newman put the Seahawks on the board with 5:44 left in the opening quarter when he connected with junior tight end Johans Bars with an eight-yard pass. He struck again less than five minutes later, this time completing a 26-yarder to senior wide receiver Teree McDonald to make it a 14-0 advantage. Newman kept the Seahawks' rally going with his final touchdown throw of the day, a 30-yard pass to sophomore wide receiver Malik Redd with 9:25 left in the second stanza before senior kicker Ryan Liszner capped off Wagner's game-opening 24-0 run with a 44-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. The junior kicker averaged 45.0 yards on five punts for 225 total yards. Registering a touchback following a 58-yard blast in the third quarter, the Keystone State product placed one inside the 20-yard line on a 37-yarder. His 58-yard boot is currently the third-longest punt in the NEC this season while his 372 total punt yards on the year rank second on the circuit. AUG 31/WEEK 0 BIG SKY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Anthony Grigsby Jr., QB, Cal Poly,...Cal Poly's Anthony Grigsby Jr. led the Mustangs to a thrilling 38-34 victory over Idaho, as the fifth-year quarterback racked up 381 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the conference opener on ESPN. Grigsby Jr., who was responsible for all five of Cal Poly's touchdowns on Friday night, had two of the Mustangs biggest plays after running in a 15-yard score with 2:16 remaining to tie the game before tossing the game-winning touchdown with nine seconds remaining on a 34-yard touchdown pass that came on 4th and 8. Grigsby Jr. completed 26-of-35 passes for 319 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions, while rushing the ball 14 times for 62 yards on the night. The victory for Cal Poly was the program's first over Idaho in six attempts. In just 16 plays over his quarter-and-a-half of playing time, he compiled 340 total offensive yards and five total touchdowns. Parsons opened the game with a 60-yard touchdown strike to Cross Watson, capping the Eagles' opening drive. After an MSU interception on the first play of the ensuing KCU drive, Parsons capped the second drive with a 27-yard TD pass to Cannon Dinger. Kentucky Christian ran the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown, but Parsons responded immediately with another drive capped by a 25-yard touchdown pass to Watson.
