San Diego State Football   Gabe Plascencia kicked a 25-yard field goal as time expired to give San Diego State a 6-3 over Northern Illinois on Saturday. Plascencia's winning kick came after a strong rush resulted in a short punt by Northern Illinois (1-3) to the Aztecs 44 with 1:44 remaining. Five Lucky Sutton rushes, a facemask penalty and an offsides after an NIU sub couldn't get on the field on time set up Plascencia for the game-winner. Plascencia has kicked 17 consecutive field goals, the second-best active streak in the FBS behind BYU's Will Ferrin. The senior has made 22 of 23 in his career. Both team's first drives, both over seven minutes, resulted in field goals but then the game became a defensive struggle.

The Aztecs (3-1) outgained the Huskies 266-179 with NIU passing for just 57 yards. The teams combined to go 9 of 30 on third down and 2 of 5 on fourth. There were 13 punts. Sutton rushed for 88 yards on 17 carries. Jayden Denegal was 13-of-20 passing for 110 yards. Owen Chambliss had 11 tackles, seven solo, and Chris Johnson six solo to lead the Aztecs defense, which blanked Cal 34-0 last week and Stony Brook 42-0 in SDSU's opener. In between came a 36-13 loss at Washington State. Andrew Glass kicked a 31-yard field goal for NIU's only points. Telly Johnson Jr. had 53 yards rushing on 16 carries. Quinn Urwiler had 16 tackles, 10 solo, and Filip Maciorowski 13 tackles, five solo. - San Diego State/AP College Football

San Diego Football   Emiliano Salazar kicked two field goals in the final 1:52 and San Diego scored the final 20 points to beat St. Thomas-Minnesota 30-27 in a Pioneer Football League opener on Saturday. Salazar kicked a 34-yard field goal with 1:52 left to tie it 27-all. Tre Moore sacked the Tommies' Andy Peters for a 16-yard loss on first down, and Jake Higgins recovered a Peters fumble after a 6-yard run on the next play to give San Diego (3-2, 1-0) the ball on the Tommies' 12-yard line with 53 seconds to go. Salazar's third field goal - a 25-yarder - on the final play completed the rally. Ben Hoiland's 40-yard field goal was the lone score in the first quarter as St. Thomas (2-2, 0-1) grabbed the lead.

Salazar tied it with a 42-yarder four minutes into the second, but Peters answered with 12-and 51-yard touchdown passes to Quentin Cobb-Butler in the final 6:15 to give the Tommies a 17-3 lead at halftime.   Mississippi Football   Trinidad Chambliss passed for 314 yards and a touchdown - a third straight 300-yard passing performance for the Division II transfer- and No. 13 Mississippi defeated No. 4 LSU 24-19 on Saturday. Kewan Lacy ran for a 15-yard touchdown and former LSU running back Logan Diggs added a 6-yard scoring run for Ole Miss (5-0, 3-0 SEC), which outgained the Tigers, 480 yards to 254. LSU (4-1, 1-1), which has struggled to run the ball this season, played without top running back Caden Durham and gained just 57 yards on the ground. That placed added pressure on quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who completed 21 of 34 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown, but also was intercepted once. Still, the Tigers had a chance to pull within a field goal after Harlem Berry's 6-yard touchdown run with 5:04 left, but LSU's 2-point conversion attempt failed when Suntarine Perkins stuffed Ju'Juan Johnson's run.

Ole Miss, which finished with 166 yards rushing, bled the clock with first-down runs by Chambliss and Lacy before Chambliss' fourth-down completion to tight end Dae'Quan Wright sealed it. Wright had a chance to score, but went down, allowing the Rebels to run out the clock. Ole Miss responded by driving inside the LSU 10, settling for a short field goal. But the rhythm the Rebels established on that series carried over into the second quarter, when Mississippi outgained LSU 197-40, scored two TDs and came within 3 yards of another score. Receiver Cayden Lee was racing toward the end zone after a long catch over the middle when AJ Haulcy's heavy hit forced a fumble that safety Mansoor Delane recovered in the end zone. The play preserved a 7-3 Tigers lead. Lacy gave Mississippi a 10-7 lead, capping a drive on which the Rebels benefited from four LSU penalties for 49 yards - including one for roughing the passer and two for pass interference. Lee's 2-yard reception near the pylon made it 17-7 just before halftime on a series that included a fourth-and-1 conversion on Chambliss' quick pass to Dae'Quan Wright. Damian Ramos' fields goals of 40 and 48 yard field goal pulled LSU to 17-13 in the third quarter before Diggs' TD widen Ole Miss' lead again in the fourth. - Ole Miss/AP College Football

Indiana Football   Fernando Mendoza threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Sarratt with 1:28 to play to give No. 11 Indiana a 20-15 win over Iowa on Saturday. Mendoza connected with Sarratt, who had six catches for 132 yards, on a slant route down the left side and Sarratt broke the tackle attempt of Iowa's Deshaun Lee on his way to the touchdown. Indiana (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten), which came into the game ranked second nationally in total offense and scoring offense, was held to 337 yards and its lowest scoring output of the season. But the Hoosiers got two touchdown passes from Mendoza, who threw for 233 yards, and two field goals from Nico Radicic. Iowa (3-2, 1-1) had a chance to break a 13-13 tie with 2:01 to play, but Drew Stevens missed a 42-yard field goal.

After Indiana stopped Iowa on its final possession, Mendoza ran off the last seconds of the game by sprinting into the end zone, where he was tackled for a safety. Indiana took an early 7-0 lead. An interception by Amare Ferrell on the third offensive play of the game gave the Hoosiers the ball at Iowa's 24-yard line, and they quickly converted with Mendoza's 14-yard touchdown pass to Omar Cooper Jr. Stevens kicked 40-yard field goal later in the first quarter and the Hawkeyes took a 10-7 lead in the final minute of the first half on Mark Gronowski's 3-yard touchdown run. The Hoosiers tied the game at 10 on Radicic's 46-yard field goal with three seconds left in the half. It was Iowa's 11th consecutive loss against a ranked opponent. - AP College Football

Baylor Football   Sawyer Robertson passed for 393 yards and four touchdowns, and Baylor ruined Oklahoma State's first game without Mike Gundy as head coach in more than 20 years with a 45-27 victory on Saturday. Robertson threw each of his touchdown passes to a different player and also ran for a score. Josh Cameron caught six passes for 98 yards for the Bears (3-2, 1-1 Big 12), who gained 612 total yards. Zane Flores passed for 232 yards for Oklahoma State, which lost its first game under interim coach Doug Meacham. Trent Howland had career highs of 84 yards and two touchdowns rushing for the Cowboys (1-3, 0-1).

Despite the loss, it was a significant improvement for the Cowboys, whose previous losses were 69-3 to Oregon and 19-12 to Tulsa. The Cowboys posted a season-high 448 yards. Oklahoma State showed early that it planned to open things up. The Cowboys scored their first points of Meacham's tenure on a double pass. Receiver Sam Jackson V completed a 26-yard touchdown pass to Josh Ford that tied the game at 7 in the first quarter. Robertson threw three touchdown passes in the first half to help Baylor take a 28-20 lead at the break, despite Oklahoma State outgaining the Bears 349 yards to 285. Howland added to his career day by throwing a 13-yard completion, then running in from a yard out on the next play to cut Baylor's lead to 35-27 in the third.   Texas AM Football   Le'Veon Moss ran for a career-high 139 yards and a touchdown and No. 9 Texas A&M held off Auburn 16-10 on Saturday to improve to 4-0 for the first time since 2016. Texas A&M's offense struggled at times, but the defense was solid all day, holding the Tigers to 176 yards and 0 of 12 on third-down attempts. Texas A&M (4-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) was driving in the fourth when Marcel Reed's pass was tipped and intercepted by Xavier Atkins, who returned it 73 yards to the 2. Jackson Arnold scrambled in for the score on the next play to get the Tigers to 13-10 with about 10 1/2 minutes to go. Auburn's defense got a stop after that, but the Tigers couldn't move the ball, with a sack by Cashius Howell forcing a punt less than six minutes left. It looked like the Aggies had a touchdown on their next drive when Reed connected with Mario Craver. But they were flagged for an ineligible player downfield to take the points away. They settled for a field goal that made it 16-10 with less than three minutes to go.

The Tigers got the ball back twice after that, but they punted the first time and Arnold was sacked on fourth down on their next possession and the Aggies ran out the clock to end it. Auburn (3-2, 0-2) entered the game ranked fifth in the nation by allowing just 58.2 yards rushing a game. But the Aggies piled up 145 yards rushing by halftime and finished with 207 yards rushing led by Moss averaging 6.6 yards a carry. The Aggies got a 1-yard TD run from Moss on their first possession to take an early lead. That score was set up by his 38-yard run on the previous play. Randy Bond made field goals of 33 and 49 yards in the second quarter after Auburn got on the board with one from 32 yards. Bond missed one from 50 yards at the end of the second quarter and his 49-yard attempt early in the third quarter was short. Reed threw for 207 yards and KC Concepcion had a season-high 113 yards receiving on seven catches. - Texas AM/AP College Football

The Midshipmen have won seven-straight games and started 4-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1978-79.
