Brown Football   OCT 6 IVY LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Elias Archie, Brown,...Archie had a hand in three of Brown's four takeaways in the Bears' first Governor's Cup victory since 2017. On the opening drive of the game, Archie picked off a pass and returned it 13 yards to the 10-yard line, which set up a Brown touchdown two plays later for the early 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. Early in the third quarter, Archie forced a URI fumble at the one-yard line, which rolled through the end zone for a touchback, taking what would have been a touchdown off the board and preserving Brown's seven-point lead at the time. The Bears then went back up the field and stuck the ball in the end zone to push their lead to 28-14.

Early in the fourth quarter, Archie jumped on top of a fumble near midfield for another key takeaway that killed a Rhody drive. In total, he finished the night with 4.0 tackles, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and one interception. The victory was Brown's first win over a ranked opponent since 2009 when it defeated No. 19/20 Holy Cross in 2009, and the first win over a top 10 opponent since 1981, when it defeated No. 10 URI in the first-ever Governor's Cup battle. - Brown Football
