Indiana Football   Indiana was the surprise of the 2024 college football season, and the question entering 2025 was whether the Hoosiers would backslide in Curt Cignetti's second season. So far, the answer is a resounding no. The Hoosiers came off their College Football Playoff appearance by startting 6-0 and, at No. 3 following their 30-20 road win over then-No. 3 Oregon, have their highest AP Top 25 ranking in history. A top-four playoff seed, and an accompanying first-round bye, are real possibilities. For all that, 10 AP writers who cover the Big Ten made Cignetti the unanimous choice for top coach in the conference at the midway point of the season. Cignetti is 17-2 since arriving from James Madison, his only losses coming last year against Ohio State and Notre Dame teams that ended up in the CFP championship game. The Hoosiers returned four starters on offense and four on defense, brought in 23 transfers including quarterback Fernando Mendoza and picked up where they left off. - AP College Football

Texas AM Football   Texas A&M running back Le'Veon Moss will miss a significant period of time with an ankle injury. Coach Mike Elko announced the injury Monday after the team's leading rusher was injured in the first half of Saturday's win over Florida that improved the fourth-ranked Aggies to 6-0. "He's going to have to go get it looked at, and we'll kind of figure out where it's at," Elko said. "It certainly will not end his season, but it's going to be a significant amount of time." Moss had five carries for 46 yards, highlighted by a 22-yard TD run before he was injured in the second quarter Saturday. He leads the Aggies with 70 carries for 389 yards and six touchdowns. It's the second straight season where he's sustained a significant injury after he missed the last four games last season with a knee injury.

"I love Le'Veon," Elko said. "I wish Le'Veon was healthy. We're going to miss him. He's been a warrior for this program. He's given us everything he had to get ready for this season. I hope this goes as fast and as smooth as it can, but injuries are a part of SEC football. And if we're going to allow injuries to impact or derail things, we can't do that." With Moss out the Aggies will make Rueben Owens II, a sophomore who is second on the team with 327 yards rushing, their primary ball carrier. He had had 51 yards rushing and scored his first touchdown of the season Saturday, a week after he had a career-high 142 yards rushing in a win over Mississippi State. - AP College Football

Texas Tech Football   The Big 12 has hit the midpoint of its season with a pair of 6-0 teams, and in many ways it is no surprise that No. 7 Texas Tech and No. 15 BYU are in that position. No. 24 Cincinnati is the only other Big 12 team to win its first three conference games, making the Bearcats (5-1, 3-0 Big 12) an easy choice as the most surprising team by AP writers who cover the league. With efficient quarterback Brendan Sorsby and linebacker Jake Golday, the Big 12's leading tackler at 9.3 per game, Cincinnati has a five-game winning streak since opening coach Scott Satterfield's third season with a loss to Nebraska. They have already matched last year's win total. Sorsby ranks third in the Big 12 at 295.8 total yards per game, behind only Baylor's Sawyer Robertson and TCU's Josh Hoover, who are 1-2 nationally in passing yards and TDs. Sorsby has thrown for 1,448 yards and 14 touchdowns with only one interception, and run for another 327 yards and five scores. - AP College Football

Texas Football   WEEK 7 SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Malik Muhammad, DB, Texas, Muhammad pulled in two interceptions along with recording a tackle for loss and a pass breakup to help the Texas defense keep rival No. 6 Oklahoma out the end zone in a 23-6 victory in the Allstate Red River Rivalry in Dallas. The interceptions were the second and third of Muhammad's career as he became the first Longhorn to secure multiple interceptions against the Sooners since 2016...His first interception came in the first quarter at the Texas 42 to stop that drive and set up a field goal attempt for the UT offense. The second interception came in the end zone at the end of the second quarter as Oklahoma was attempting to score before halftime from the Texas 30-yard line...That kept the score at 6-3 in favor of OU before the Longhorns' defense went on to shutout the Sooners in the second half. Oklahoma would be limited to only 258 total yards in the game, including just 88 in the second half after entering the game averaging 415.2 yards per and 33.8 points per game...Muhammad's pass breakup also forced a fourth down on OU's final drive of the game that the Sooners then went for and did not convert...Oklahoma entered the game with three interceptions thrown for the season, and Texas doubled that number with three in the game. - SEC Football
