Buffalo Football   Ta'Quan Roberson passed for a career-high 403 yards, firing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Victor Snow with 21 seconds left and Buffalo stunned Massachusetts 28-21 on Saturday after a late celebration penalty cost the Minutemen their first victory of the season. AJ Hairston threw two touchdown passes and UMass (0-7, 0-3 Mid-American Conference) led 21-20 after Jeremiah McGill picked off Roberson with 59 seconds remaining. But the Minutemen were flagged for celebrating the pick and had to start their drive at their 10-yard line instead of the 25. After two running plays lost 5 yards, Hairston threw incomplete and Buffalo (4-3, 3-0) got the ball back at midfield with 41 seconds left. Roberson hit Jasaiah Gathings for a 14- and 20-yard gains before Snow's go-ahead catch.

Kezion Dia-Johnson hauled in his first career touchdown pass on a 27-yard strike from Hairston and freshman Brandon Hood raced 90 yards for a touchdown on a first-down play as the Minutemen took a 14-3 second-quarter lead. Hood's scoring run was the longest for UMass since Tom Dicker had a 94-yarder against Boston University in 1996. Roberson connected with Snow for a 23-yard touchdown and Buffalo trailed 14-10 at halftime. The Bulls grabbed a 17-14 lead on Terrance Shelton Jr.'s 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Max Dowling caught a pass from Hairston, bounced off a tackler and rumbled down the sideline for a 77-yard score as the Minutemen moved in front 21-17 with their first second-half touchdown of the season. Jack Howes had a field goal hit the upright before going through with 25 seconds left to cut it to 21-20 heading to the final quarter. Roberson completed 36 of 55 passes - both career highs - with an interception. Nik McMilian and Snow combined for 18 catches and 231 yards. Hairston had 119 yards on 6-for-14 passing and Hood carried 24 times for 179 yards. - Buffalo/AP College Football

Dickens powered the top offense in the Southern Conference, completing 28 of 33 passes, and his 18-yard touchdown pass to Dominic Dutton gave the Catamounts a 45-31 lead with 3 minutes remaining in the game. The Citadel led 14-7 after one quarter before a short touchdown pass by Dickens and a 7-yard touchdown run from Markel Townsend helped Western Carolina (5-3, 4-0 Southern Conference) take a 24-17 lead at halftime.

Two more Dickens' TDs, the second a 37-yard connection with Malik Knight, led to a 38-24 lead through three quarters.   Northwestern Football   Preston Stone passed for two touchdowns, Jack Olsen kicked a pair of field goals and Northwestern cruised past sliding Purdue 19-0 on Saturday for its fourth straight win. Joseph Himon II rushed for 87 yards on 22 carries and Caleb Komolafe ran for 67 yards before leaving with an upper-body injury in the third quarter for Northwestern (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten), which has its best record through seven games since coming out 6-1 in 2020. The Wildcats scored on their first three possessions, raced out to a 13-0 lead at halftime, then kept the Boilermakers' offense in check to send them to a fifth consecutive loss overall and 13th straight in conference play. "I was excited about the way this football team started out the game," Northwestern coach David Braun said. "I was excited about the way we continued to build momentum in the third quarter and ultimately really excited about the way our defense was able to close out with a shutout." Stone threw for 132 yards on 11-for-26 passing.

He connected with Hunter Welcing for a touchdown in the second quarter, then Griffin Wilde in the third. Wilde has TDs in four straight games. The Wildcats ran the ball 50 times for 232 yards. That helped Northwestern control the pace of this one and dominate in possession time - 38 minutes to 22. "We know who we are," Braun said. "It starts with the running game and it's built around that. We have to make sure we continually emphasize it." The Wildcats defense limited Purdue to 11 first-down conversions while Northwestern consistently advanced to 25 of its own. "We're super lucky to have the defense that we do," Stone said. "We had 11 guys flying around the whole game, not just doing their job, but really like setting the tone, honestly inflicting pain on that offense." Olsen has eight field goals on the season, all in the last four last four weeks. - Northwestern/AP College Football

Indiana Football   Josh Hoover threw three touchdown passes, Kevorian Barnes ran for 106 yards with two scores and TCU held on to beat instate Big 12 rival Baylor 42-36 on Saturday in a game that matched the top two FBS passers and was delayed more than two hours in the fourth quarter because of lightning. The Horned Frogs (5-2, 2-2 Big 12) went ahead to stay on a 5-yard TD run by Barnes that made it 14-7 in the second quarter, two plays after a brief heavy rain downpour and a lost fumble by the Bears. Barnes took a direct snap for a 14-yard score to make it 42-21 on the first play when the game finally resumed and was finished in bright sunshine. Baylor's Keaton Thomas returned a fumble 24 yards for a touchdown, and Sawyer Robertson threw a 35-yard TD to Kobe Wilson with 30 seconds left before the Bears (4-3, 2-2) recovered an onside kick. Namdi Obiazor's interception with 13 seconds left finally clinched the win for TCU, nearly six hours after kickoff.

Sawyer, the national passing leader, was 25-of-52 passing for 318 yards with two TDs and three interceptions. All the picks came after the resumption of play. He now has 2,376 yards and 21 TDs. Hoover completed 22 of 31 passes for 231 yards. He threw a 6-yard TD pass to Jordan Dwyer with 11 seconds left in the first half and a 3-yarder to tight end Ka'Morreun Pimpton on the opening drive of the second half for a 28-10 lead. Hoover now has 2,024 yards and 21 TDs this season. TCU had just gone up 35-21 on Trent Battle's 65-yard TD run with 13:46 left when play was stopped for the first time because of lightning, even though the rain had stopped and the skies were starting to clear before that 58-minute delay. Play then resumed for only about 15 minutes, but soon after the Bears came up short on a fourth-and-3 play from their own 33 with 6:44 left, the game was stopped again for another 78 minutes. Both teams had come out and were completing warmups to resume when officials sent them back to their locker rooms because of another lightning strike detected within 8 miles of the stadium. - TCU/AP College Football
