Kentucky Football   Kentucky quarterback Zach Calzada apologized Friday for sending a video to someone on social media in which he boasted about the amount of NIL money he has received from the Wildcats this season. The video, which was posted to X by a different person, showed Calzada counting a large stack of $100 bills. Calzada, who turns 25 on Saturday, said he sent the video to someone who had apparently criticized his play this season. In the video, Calzada tells the fan, "Hey, what you need to do, Garrett, is your ass needs to stop hatin' and go get you some money. But since you ain't got nothing, you go ahead and you can count mine." "Let's count," Calzada said, as he fanned the $100 bills. "Don't lose count, Garrett," Calzada continued. "Straight hundreds." A Kentucky spokesman told the Lexington Herald-Leader on Friday, "Zach has taken responsibility for his actions. He has done the right thing and apologized. Now, it's time to move forward." Calzada, who is playing his seventh season of college football, started the first two games for the Wildcats in 2025. He was ineffective, completing 47.2% of his attempts for 234 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception. He injured his throwing shoulder in the fourth quarter of a 30-23 loss to Ole Miss on Sept. 6. - ESPN College Football

Cincinnati Football   JC French IV threw for a season-high 352 yards and Georgia Southern held off Appalachian State 25-23 on Thursday night. Appalachian State trailed 22-3 midway through the third quarter before AJ Swan threw a short-yardage TD pass, and then Jaquari Lewis broke loose on a 27-yard touchdown run early in the fourth that made it 22-16. Swan's 16-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Barnes capped an 11-play, 66-yard drive that ended the scoring with 1:56 remaining. The Eagles later converted on second-and-6 to help run out the clock.

French was 25-of-37 passing and surpassed 2,000 yards for the season.   Wisconsin Football   Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell will return to lead the Badgers in 2026, athletic director Chris McIntosh announced on Thursday. With the Badgers 2-6 overall and winless in Big Ten play, McIntosh is informing the Wisconsin team on Thursday that Fickell will return as head coach next year. The return will come with changes, which include increased investment in the roster and program, along with an ongoing analysis of every facet of the program. "Chancellor [Jennifer] Mnookin and I are aligned on significantly elevating investment in our program to compete at highest level," McIntosh told ESPN. "We are willing to make an investment in infrastructure and staff. As important is our ability to retain and recruit players in a revenue share and NIL era." In three seasons at Wisconsin, Fickell has gone 15-19. Along with supporting Fickell, McIntosh pledges to support the program more financially to return the Badgers to contention in the Big Ten. "If Wisconsin is going to be as competitive as we expect, the support has to be as competitive," McIntosh said. "There's no getting around it. Our people, our fans are passionate about Wisconsin football. I'd have it no other way. A successful football program is important to university, the state and our lettermen." Fickell's deal runs through the 2031 season.

If he were to have been fired this year, he'd have been owed more than $25 million. (The one-year extension in the offseason did not impact the size of Fickell's buyout.) "This season has caused us all to have to look from within," McIntosh said. "Luke has had to do that. I've had to do that. He has a willingness to be better. So do I, and so does Wisconsin from an institutional perspective." There's optimism at Wisconsin that with college football settling into the revenue share and NIL era, the school will be better positioned because of the school's traditional success in attracting corporate partnerships. Those can translate to NIL deals, in addition to the revenue share available to all schools. "Our intention is to be, in terms of our investment, on par with those that we intend to compete with," McIntosh said. "Our expectations are to compete at the highest level in the Big Ten and beyond." Wisconsin has lost six straight games. The Badgers host No. 23 Washington on Saturday afternoon and finish the year at No. 2 Indiana, home against Illinois and at Minnesota. The 37-0 loss to Iowa at home earlier in the year marked the program's first home shutout since 1980. - AP College Football

Ball State Football   Kiael Kelly threw two touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score to tight end Kameron Anthony with about two minutes remaining, and Ball State defeated Kent State 17-13 on Wednesday night. The Cardinals (4-5, 3-2 Mid-American Conference) trailed 13-10 with four minutes left when, for the second time in the game, they stopped the Golden Flashes on fourth-and-1 in Kent State territory. The Cardinals gambled on fourth down themselves, facing fourth and 2 at the 29-yard line. Kelly threw a short pass to Anthony, who was wide open on the left side, and Anthony scored untouched for a 17-13 lead with 1:53 remaining. Early in the fourth quarter, a 30-yard pass from Dru DeShields to Wayne Harris set up Kent State in scoring position and Will Hryszko's 28-yard field goal gave the Golden Flashes a 13-10 lead. Kelly passed for 173 yards and was the Cardinals’ leading rusher with 53 yards.

DeShields passed for 212 yards and Wayne Harris had 87 receiving yards for Kent State (3-6, 2-3). On the opening possession of the game, the Golden Flashes failed on a fourth-and-1 try from deep in their own territory and Ball State kicked a field goal for a 3-0 lead. In the second quarter, the Cardinals drove 50 yards in 13 plays culminating in a 1-yard touchdown pass from Kelly to TJ Horton for a 10-0 lead. Ball State led 10-3 at halftime. Harris' 24-yard return on a short punt set up Kent State at the 10-yard line late in the third quarter. On second down from the 4, running back Donovan Delaney Jr. took a direct snap and scored on a run up the middle to tie the score at 10. - Ball State/AP College Football

After Andrew Glass hit a 50-yard field goal to pull NIU within 7-3 at 9:25 of the first, Toledo (5-4, 3-2 Mid-American Conference) took control with a 21-point second quarter. Chip Trayanum powered in from 5 yards at 5:08, and Gleason found Junior Vandeross III for a 19-yard score with 51 seconds left to cap an eight-play, 92-yard march.

Kenji Christian finished it off after the break, running in from 10 yards with 4:53 in the third, then hauling in a 16-yard touchdown in the fourth. Gleason went 25 of 31 with no interceptions, repeatedly working to Vandeross, who had six catches for 97 yards. Christian totaled 66 yards and two touchdowns.   Ohio Football   Parker Navarro threw for 201 yards and a touchdown and Sieh Bangura ran for 102 yards and a touchdown and Ohio beat Miami (Ohio) 24-20 on Tuesday night. The Bobcats' (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) win created a four-way tie atop the conference with the Red Hawks, Buffalo and Western Michigan, who are each 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the league.

Navarro threw a 49-yard touchdown to Rodney Harris II with 2:15 left to play to provide the game-winning score. On Miami's second play of its final drive, Jalen Thomeson intercepted Dequan Finn to seal the win. Ohio ran five plays, gained 11 yards and killed the clock. Finn threw a 27-yard touchdown to Kam Perry with 9:29 left to give Miami its final lead of the night. Early in the fourth, Finn threw a 4-yard touchdown to Braylon Isom for a 13-10 RedHawks lead.   Louisville Football   Louisville leading rusher Isaac Brown will be "out for a while" with a lower leg injury, coach Jeff Brohm said Monday. Brown was injured late in the fourth quarter in a 28-16 win over Virginia Tech this past weekend. Brohm did not give a timetable for a return. Brown has been a key reason Louisville is ranked No. 14 and making a push to get into the ACC championship game. He has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of his past three games, with 782 total yards, 5 touchdowns and a per-carry average of 8.6 yards this season.

Depth at running back is now a concern for the Cardinals. Keyjuan Brown has stepped up with back-to-back big performances (189 combined yards, three touchdowns) and will be relied on even more while Brown is out. Brohm said Duke Watson - who has missed the past three games with an ankle injury - is working his way back, and the coach added that he is "hopeful" the sophomore will play this week against California. - ESPN College Football

Purdue Football   Purdue running back Devin Mockobee will miss the rest of his final college season after undergoing ankle surgery late last week, coach Barry Odom announced Monday. Mockobee finishes his career as the fourth-leading rusher in Boilermakers history with 2,987 yards, trailing Mike Alstott, Kory Sheets and Otis Armstrong, a College Football Hall of Famer. Mockobee also ranks in the school's top 10 in carries with 630 and career 100-yard games with nine. Odom said Mockobee injured his ankle late in an Oct. 25 loss to Rutgers. He was ruled out of last weekend's 21-16 loss at No. 21 Michigan following Friday's surgery. "We were hoping we would get a little bit better news after they did that procedure on his ankle, but unfortunately, the injury he sustained, he's played his last game here," Odom said. "I sure hate that because he is such a wonderful young man, a great leader of this program and a great representative of Purdue University. The things he poured into this program and university since I've been here, he will go down as one of the really enjoyable, great guys I've had a chance to coach. We'll be connected forever, and I know this place means a lot to him." Losing this season's leading rusher couldn't come at a worse time for the Boilermakers (2-7, 0-6 Big Ten).

They are mired in a six-game losing streak and remain one of four winless teams in league play. Purdue's next chance to snap a school-record 15-game losing streak in conference games comes Saturday when it hosts No. 1 Ohio State (8-0, 5-0). Antonio Harris started against Michigan then rotated with Malachi Thomas. Harris finished with 11 carries for 54 yards and one touchdown while Thomas had 15 carries for 68 yards. Malachi Singleton, a quarterback, also finished with six carries for 24 yards. Odom did not say whether he would follow a similar game plan against the Buckeyes. Mockobee joined the Boilermakers as a walk-on from Boonville, Indiana, but quickly emerged as their top rusher in 2022. He set school freshman records by rushing for 968 yards and posting four 100-yard games while scoring nine times for the Big Ten West Division champions. After losing the Big Ten championship game to the Wolverines, first-time head coach Ryan Walters gave the 6-foot, 202-pound rusher a scholarship. - AP College Football

Alabama Football   Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest over the weekend, coach Kalen DeBoer said Monday. Kirkpatrick was arrested Saturday on three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of attempting to elude and speeding. He was released from Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $1,500 bond. "Unfortunately, with the information that I have at this time, I talked to Dre, and we need to indefinitely suspend him," DeBoer said. "He understands there are consequences that come with his actions."   Auburn Football   Football coach Hugh Freeze, whose 15-19 record in his two-plus seasons at Auburn was capped by a listless home loss to Kentucky on Saturday, was fired, athletic director John Cohen announced Sunday. Freeze, 56, will be owed $15.8 million in buyout money, with no mitigation, after he signed a six-year, $49 million deal to replace Bryan Harsin in 2022. Freeze is the eighth Power Four coach to be fired this season. "I have informed Coach Freeze of my decision to make a change in leadership with the Auburn football program," Cohen said in a statement. "Coach Freeze is a man of integrity, and we are appreciative of his investment in Auburn and his relentless work over the last three years in bolstering our roster. Our expectations for Auburn football are to annually compete for championships, and the search for the next leader of Auburn football begins immediately." Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin was named interim coach of the Tigers. "It's my fervent belief that great days are ahead for the Auburn football program," Freeze wrote in a statement posted on X. "Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this chapter. I love this place, and I'll carry the friendships with me always."

Much of the SEC offseason spotlight focused on Freeze, heightening the need for a strong start for the Tigers. In his time at Auburn, he had a 6-16 mark in the SEC, and his tenure was marked by excruciating home losses to New Mexico State, Cal, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Oklahoma. The program's offensive issues continued under Freeze, with the Tigers scoring 24 or fewer points in 17 of his 22 SEC games. He also was on the wrong end of too many close matchups, including twice this season, thanks partly to questionable calls. Freeze, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year, improved the roster heading into this season, landing consecutive top-10 recruiting classes. He also added key transfers, such as quarterback Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma) and wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. (Georgia Tech). Combined with a manageable 2025 schedule and a contract that ran through the 2028 season, it seemed the pieces were in place for Freeze to author a breakthrough. - AP College Football

Texas Tech Football   The Big 12 had two teams - BYU and Texas Tech - in the top 10 of the Associated Press Top 25 college football poll for the first time in two years Sunday, while Notre Dame was back in the top 10 after a two-month absence. Oklahoma and Texas made the biggest upward moves in this week's poll, rising seven spots to No. 11 and No. 13, respectively. The top seven teams were unchanged in the final poll before the College Football Playoff committee releases its first rankings Tuesday night to kick off the run-up to the CFP bracket release Dec. 7. No. 1 Ohio State, which pulled away in the second half to beat Penn State on Saturday, is at the top of the AP poll for a 10th straight week. Indiana, which scored 50-plus points against a Big Ten opponent for the third time while hammering Maryland, is No. 2 for a third straight week.

The Buckeyes and Hoosiers again were followed by Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Ole Miss. Losses by Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Miami shuffled the Nos. 8, 9 and 10 spots, now held by BYU, Texas Tech and Notre Dame. Miami's losses to two then-unranked opponents in three weeks have caused a 16-spot plummet, from No. 2 to No. 18. The distribution of first-place votes was the same as last week. Ohio State received 54, Indiana got 11 and Texas A&M one. The Buckeyes are in the Top 25 for a 90th straight poll, third most on the active list. Notre Dame is in a 50th straight time, fifth on the active list. Texas, meanwhile, made its 800th appearance in the poll, seventh all time. No. 8 BYU and No. 9 Texas Tech gave the Big 12 two teams in the top 10 for the first time since Oct. 29, 2023. The Cougars, who were idle, have their highest ranking of the season. The Red Raiders won at Kansas State and reentered the top 10 for the first time in three weeks. The two teams face each other this weekend. - AP College Football

Oregon Football   Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola has a broken right fibula, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Sunday, and will sit out the remainder of the season. Raiola suffered the injury while being sacked and losing a fumble early in the third quarter of Saturday's 21-17 loss to USC. After the game, Cornhuskers coach Matt Rhule told reporters that Raiola wanted to return to the game, but the sophomore couldn't run so Rhule decided it was unsafe to send him back in. Raiola completed 10 of 15 passes against the Trojans for 91 yards and a touchdown before the injury. He was replaced by true freshman TJ Lateef, who went 5-of-7 for 7 yards and rushed for 18 yards on six carries. Raiola had completed 72.4% of his passes for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns through nine games this season. He has been intercepted six times.   South Carolina Football   South Carolina has fired offensive coordinator Mike Shula just nine games into his first season in the role. Shula, who served as Alabama coach from 2003 to 2006, gained most of his coaching experience in the NFL as an offensive assistant. He joined coach Shane Beamer's staff in Columbia as an offensive analyst in March 2024. Shula began this season with the title of offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, replacing offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, who left South Carolina to be the head coach at Appalachian State.

Shula inherited a Gamecocks offense that was led by quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who entered the season with some Heisman Trophy buzz. But Sellers has struggled as a sophomore with seven touchdown passes and five interceptions through nine games this season. South Carolina ranks last in the SEC in both points (19.7) and yards per game (294.1). The Gamecocks have lost four straight games to fall to 3-6 (1-6 SEC), putting Beamer squarely on the hot seat.   Utah Football   Devon Dampier threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 24 Utah to a 45-14 victory over No. 17 Cincinnati on Saturday night, snapping the Bearcats' seven-game winning streak. Ryan Davis led Utah with a season-high 132 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions. Wayshawn Parker added 104 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The Utes (7-2, 4-2 Big 12) racked up 480 total yards – including 267 rushing yards. Utah's victory kept the Utes in the hunt for a Big 12 championship game berth. "I think the biggest thing for us is there's still a way for us to get to the championship," Dampier said. "That's been on our mind. That's been our goal since the beginning." Cincinnati's Brendan Sorsby threw for 221 yards and a touchdown and ran for another, but completed just 33% of his pass attempts. Cyrus Allen had 133 yards receiving, highlighted by an 88-yard touchdown, on two catches for the Bearcats.

Cincinnati (7-2, 5-1) dropped a game behind undefeated BYU in the Big 12 standings. The Bearcats host the Cougars in three weeks. "I told our team in the locker room we still got a lot to play for, everything to play for," Cincinnati coach Scott Satterfield said. Utah covered 94 yards in 16 plays on its opening drive, converting twice on fourth down to keep the drive going and taking 7:07 off the clock. Davis punctuated the drive by breaking a couple of tackles and putting the Utes on the board with a 34-yard catch and run. Cincinnati tied it when Sorsby faked a pitch and raced untouched through an open seam for a 22-yard touchdown. Utah answered quickly, taking a 14-7 lead late in the first quarter when Parker took a direct snap in for a 39-yard score.
