Oregon Football   Atticus Sappington kicked a 39-yard field goal with 3 seconds left, and No. 6 Oregon escaped with an 18-16 win over Iowa on a rainy Saturday. Dante Moore led a 10-play, 54-yard drive to set up Sappington's third field goal of the game, connecting with Malik Benson for a 24-yard gain to get the Ducks (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten, No. 9 CFP) into range for the winning kick. "That moment was made for me," Sappington said. "I truly believe that." It was the third field goal of the game for Sappington on the slick field. He kicked a 46-yarder at the end of the first half that gave Oregon a 12-7 halftime lead, and a 44-yarder late in the third quarter that increased the Ducks' lead to 15-7. "When you have two pretty big-time field goals to change the game early on, obviously your confidence is high," Sappington said.

"For me, it was just like, focus on the kick. Breathe." Running back Noah Whittington said he was praying before Sappington's kick and said he wasn't sure if he wanted to look at the play until Moore told him to watch. "When Te told me that, I thought, "Why wouldn't I watch?" Whittington said. "I've seen him make those kinds of kicks all of the time." "I was just proud of the way we handled the moment," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. "I had guys coming up to me during the game saying, "Coach, breathe." That was what I had been telling them all week. And for them to be able to come up and say the same thing to me, it just tells you they believed in what we were doing." Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski's 3-yard touchdown run capped a 12-play, 93-yard march that gave the Hawkeyes (6-3, 4-2, No. 20 CFP) their first lead, 16-15 with 1:51 to play. Iowa went for 2, but Gronowski's conversion pass was incomplete. Moore completed five passes for 47 yards during the winning drive on what was otherwise a challenging day for the Ducks' offense. He finished with just 112 yards passing and one interception. Whittington had 118 rushing yards for the Ducks, who extended their road winning streak to 11 games, the longest in the FBS. Oregon had 261 rushing yards against an Iowa defense that ranked 10th nationally, giving up 83.9 yards per game. "We went into the game knowing we could win in the trenches," Whittington said. "All week, we said we could run in the trenches. And we ran in the trenches." - Oregon/AP College Football

Prairie View A&M (7-3, 5-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) did all of its scoring in the final three quarters after David Faulk's 33-yard field goal gave Alabama A&M (4-6, 1-5) a 3-0 lead.   Oregon State Football   Braden Atkinson threw three touchdown passes, CJ Miller ran for three scores, and Mercer defeated Western Carolina 49-47 on Saturday in a shootout to win the Southern Conference title. Mercer clinched the SoCon's automatic bid into the FCS playoffs. Reice Griffith's 37-yard field goal gave the Bears their 49-47 lead with 1:30 remaining before Taron Dickens drove the Catamounts to the 15-yard line with 3 seconds left. Marcus Trout then missed a 33-yard field-goal attempt on the final play.

Dickens threw seven touchdown passes, including three in the fourth quarter when the Catamounts twice rallied from a 12-point deficit. They took a 47-46 lead on his final TD pass, a 42-yarder to James Tyre, but they failed on a 2-point attempt that would have given them a three-point lead. Dickens completed 33 of 49 passes for 551 yards. Malik Knight had 141 yards receiving, scoring twice for the Bears (8-1, 7-0), who are tied for 10th in the FCS coaches poll. Atkinson was 23-for-39 passing for 443 yards. Adjatay Dabbs had 147 receiving yards and Miller ran for 91 yards for the Catamounts (6-4, 5-1), 24th in the FCS poll. Western Carolina had the edge in total yards, 599-568. Dickens, a sophomore, had a career-high of 528 yards with six TD passes against Samford earlier this season. - AP College Football

Arizona Football   Quincy Craig scored his second touchdown of the game on a 24-yard run with 39 seconds left in regulation and Arizona rallied to beat Kansas 24-20 on Saturday. Coming off a blowout win over Colorado, the Wildcats (6-3, 3-3 Big 12) had a hard time moving the ball against a defense that entered the game ranked 12th in the Big 12. Noah Fifita threw an early touchdown pass, but was sacked five times and nearly had three passes intercepted before rallying Arizona to become bowl eligible. "We knew it was going to be an incredible battle and our players kept responding," Arizona coach Brent Brennan said. "They kept responding and responding...I know it wasn't perfect, but we'll fix that." After Kansas' Laith Marjan pushed a 30-yard field goal wide right - his first miss in 15 attempts this season - the Wildcats took over at their own 20 with 2:39 left. Arizona moved quickly down the field and Craig burst through a big hole up the middle for the go-ahead score. "That was definitely one of my favorite touchdowns I've experienced," said Craig, who had 47 yards rushing on three carries. The Jayhawks (5-5, 3-4) controlled Arizona's offense for most of the game, holding the Wildcats to 323 total yards - nearly 100 yards below their season average. They also held Fifita to 158 yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-31 passing.

Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels threw for 199 yards and a touchdown, adding 74 yards and another score rushing. His desperation attempt bounded out of the end zone as time expired. "We were able to throw a very accurate quarterback really out of rhythm there for a while," Kansas coach Lance Leipold said. "But they made the plays down the stretch." Fifita showed off his dual-threat skill set on Arizona's second drive, breaking off a 19-yard run - his longest of the season - and floating a 16-yard touchdown pass to tight end Sam Olson just as he got hit. Daniels took his two-way turn on the Jayhawks' next two drives. He scored on a 1-yard keeper set up by a 14-yard run, then hit Emmanuel Henderson Jr. in stride for a 24-yard touchdown. Kansas appeared to be headed to a 24-7 halftime lead when Leroy Harris III returned an interception 77 yards for a touchdown. Instead, it came back when cornerback Jalen Todd was called for holding away from the play. Craig scored on an 8-yard touchdown two plays later by reaching the ball to the pylon, pulling Arizona within 17-14 at halftime. The defenses took over in the second half. - Arizona/AP College Football

Miami Football   Quarterback Carson Beck caught a touchdown pass. Offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa turned a backward pass into a rushing score. And Miami went deep into the depth chart to overcome some injuries. The first step of getting back into the College Football Playoff chase is complete for the Hurricanes. Beck eclipsed the 10,000-yard passing mark for his college career, Miami's defense recorded six sacks and the 18th-ranked Hurricanes used some tricks to roll to a 38-10 win over Syracuse on Saturday. "When Miami's on, Miami really distinguishes itself as one of the better teams," Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal said. The Hurricanes weren't on through their first four drives. After that, they rolled.

Mauigoa's catch of a backward pass finished off what went into the books as a 3-yard rushing touchdown - "it's a play we've been practicing for two, three years now," Mauigoa said after his first touchdown since he was a little kid playing in American Samoa - while Keionte Scott had an interception return touchdown for the Hurricanes (7-2, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference). Keelan Marion had 116 receiving yards and Girard Pringle Jr. had a touchdown run for Miami. The Hurricanes punted on each of their first four drives - then scored on each of their next four possessions, with the exception of a kneel-down to end the first half. Miami had no points on its first 22 plays, 24 points on its next 22. "We had lot of self-inflicted wounds," Syracuse coach Fran Brown said. "I think they're a really good football team." Elijah Washington-Baker had a 17-yard touchdown catch with 21 seconds left and Rickie Collins completed 12 of 25 passes for 85 yards for Syracuse (3-7, 1-6), which gave up six sacks and has dropped six straight. It's the longest losing streak for the Orange since an eight-game slide in 2020. Beck finished 18 of 24 passing for 247 yards and a score. He opened the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown catch on a pass from receiver Malachi Toney with 2:13 left in the first half, and the Hurricanes were very different from there. - Miami/AP College Football

Theodore Caballero kicked a short field goal before Benoit connected with Andrew Frazier for a 38-yard touchdown and Grambling (7-3, 4-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) took a 10-0 lead into the second quarter. Juan Dominguez kicked a short field goal for Bethune-Cookman (5-5, 4-2) and Timmy McClain followed with an 11-yard touchdown run to tie it 10-all. Benoit and Nae'Saan Dickerson teamed up for a 59-yard touchdown, but McClain answered with a 61-yard scoring strike to Maleek Huggins that tied it 17-17.

Benoit capped a 72-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown toss to Patrick Williams for a 24-17 lead. Dominguez kicked a 39-yard field goal with a minute left to cut the Wildcats' deficit to four at halftime. Benoit's 8-yard touchdown pass to Keith Jones Jr. was the lone score of the second half until Dominguez kicked a 42-yard field to make it a one-possession game with 1:21 remaining.   Transfer Football   Samari Collier raced for an 85-yard touchdown on Coastal Carolina's first play from scrimmage and he threw three more scores in the Chanticleers' 40-27 win over Georgia State on Saturday night. Collier tossed a pair of TD passes to Karmello English and another to Robby Washington, though he only threw for only 120 yards on 11-of-18 passing. But his big run led to a 123-yard rushing night on 10 carries.

Kian Afrookhteh's three second-quarter field goals put Coastal Carolina (6-3, 5-1 Sun Belt Conference) up 23-14 at halftime. Collier's TD throws of 3 and 31 yards to English made it 40-14 early in the fourth. English finished with four catches for 63 yards. TJ Finley and Cameran Brown combined for 293 yards passing and a touchdown apiece for Georgia State. Finley was picked off by Ja'Marion Wayne to end Georgia State's final drive. Jordan Simmons rushed for 99 yards on 20 carries with a TD for the Panthers (1-8, 0-5). Ted Hurst had 165 yards on 10 catches with a score.   Texas AM Football   Marcel Reed threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, Texas A&M's hounding defense made for a forgettable first start for Missouri quarterback Matt Zollers, and the third-ranked Aggies beat the No. 19 Tigers 38-17 on Saturday to remain undefeated. Rueben Owens II added 102 yards rushing and a pair of clinching touchdown runs in the fourth quarter, as the Aggies (9-0, 6-0 Southeastern Conference, No. 3 CFP) continued their best start since 1992 with their third consecutive victory over Missouri. "You know, from a CEO perspective, I believe this is what this program is capable of. This is why we're here. We believe the ceiling of this program is really high," Aggies coach Mike Elko said. "This is what everyone has been talking about." Zollers, starting in place of injured Beau Pribula, was just 7 of 22 for 77 yards, despite getting plenty of help from his rushing attack. Jamal Roberts ran for 110 yards and a touchdown, and Ahmad Hardy added 109 yards and another score, as the Tigers (6-3, 2-3, No. 22) piled up 207 yards on the ground. "That's one of the toughest locker rooms I've been in," Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz said, "because we all believed that we were going to win. We all believed we were going to win. They fought like they were going to win." Missouri had been in every game this season, including close losses to No. 4 Alabama and No. 15 Vanderbilt.

But losing Pribula to a season-ending injury against the Commodores left the 19-year-old Zollers to make his first start against the Aggies. It was a predictably tough task. The first true freshman to start for Missouri since Drew Lock a decade ago, Zollers spent most of the game simply trying to stay upright. And on the rare occasion that he had time to throw, Zollers either overshot hits targets or threw it into the turf, resulting in a humbling halftime line: 3 of 11 for 31 yards, two sacks and a fumble that was nearly returned for a touchdown. "We let him down as coaches tonight with the protection plan," Drinkwitz said. In fact, Zollers' fumble late in the first half may have been the tipping point in the game. - Texas AM/AP College Football

Montana Football   Keali'i Ah Yat threw for two touchdowns and ran for another and Montana held on to beat Eastern Washington 29-24 on Saturday. Jake Schakel, a redshirt freshman making his first start, threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Cole Pruett with 1:01 to play for the Eagles. Eastern Washington recovered the onside kick and Schakel had the Eagles at the Montana 9 with 25 seconds to go. The Grizzlies kept the receiver inbounds on a 4-yard completion but when Schakel took the snap with eight seconds left and rushed to spike the ball, it slipped out of his hands for a fumble and the clock ran out. Schakel was impressive against the No. 2 team in the FCS coaches poll and 25,861 fans, completing 43 of 63 passes for 451 yards and two touchdowns, although he had two interceptions.

Ah Yat was 22 of 30 for 250 yards for the Grizzlies (10-0, 6-0 Big Sky Conference), staking them to a 22-0 with touchdowns on their first three possessions. He found Michael Wortham with a 12-yard toss, threw a 29-yard to Korbin Hendrix and scored on a 3-yard run. Eastern Washington (4-6, 3-3) answered with a 10-yard scoring reception for Kevin Allen III and his 10-yard run. Other than a quick touchdown drive, with Eli Gilman scoring on a 25-yard run, Montana had 161 yards and seven punts until giving the ball up on downs at the EWU 37, which allowed the Eagles to rally. Miles Williams had 11 receptions for 136 yards for the Eagles and Pruett had 10 for 133. - AP College Football
