09/14 WEEK 2 SEC CO-SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vicari Swain, South Carolina, Position: Defensive Back,...South Carolina's Vicari Swain, a senior defensive back from Carrollton, Ga., cemented his name in the record books Saturday night with the fourth and fifth punt return touchdowns of his career, breaking a 55-year-old school record for most career punt return touchdowns previously held by Dick Harris (1969-1971). The All-SEC punt returner went 58 yards for a score with 9:37 to go in the first quarter and 45 yards to the house just before the end of the third quarter in helping the Gamecocks to a 45-9 victory over Towson at Williams-Brice Stadium. Since 1995, 32 different players across FBS have returned multiple punts for touchdowns in a game, and Swain became the first player on that list to do it twice, having had two punt return touchdowns in a 38-10 win over SC State last season. He finished the game with three returns for 122 yards (40.7 average) and also blocked an extra point attempt by the Towson kicker with 7:03 remaining in the third quarter. - SEC Football

09/14 WEEK 2 SEC CO-SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vernell Brown III, Florida, Position: Wide Receiver,...Florida's Vernell Brown III, a sophomore wide receiver from Gainesville, Fla., set a career high with two punt return touchdowns, coming on back-to-back possessions, and 216 all-purpose yards - 173 yards coming off four punt returns (43.25 average) and 43 yards coming from three receptions. He returned a punt 64 yards near the beginning of the second quarter to give the Gators a 17-3 lead, and then on the following possession returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown to become the second player in program history, joining Jacquez Green in 1996, to return back-to-back punts for touchdowns. His 173 punt return yards broke the program record of 155 punt return yards set by Brandon James in 2007 and tied the program record for punt return touchdowns in a season. - SEC Football

09/14 WEEK 2 SEC CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caleb Woodson, Alabama, Position: Linebacker,...Alabama's Caleb Woodson, a senior linebacker from Haymarket, Va., put together a dominant performance in the Crimson Tide's 45-17 win at Kentucky to begin SEC play. Woodson helped Alabama limit the Wildcats to only 209 yards of offense and 17 points, and the Tide blanked Kentucky in the second half while allowing only 62 total yards in the final two quarters. He led all Alabama defenders with 12 total tackles, including two sacks for minus-13 yards. His 12 stops were a new career-high mark for the senior, spanning his time at Virginia Tech and two games with the Tide. - SEC Football

Simmons threw for a season-best 292 yards while completing 66 percent of his passes and connected on three more touchdown passes to give him seven in 48 attempts this season. His touchdown throws covered 27, 8 and 13 yards, with the final score coming on fourth down with just 2:46 left in the game to seal the victory. He posted a 184.2 collegiate passer rating with zero interceptions, ranking sixth nationally on the season. Ten of his 19 completions were at least 12 yards while he averaged 10.1 yards per attempt and 15.4 yards per completion. - SEC Football

It marked his second career punt return touchdown.
