James Madison Football   Nick Herman ran for a career-high 153 yards including a touchdown and Drake clinched at least a share of the Pioneer Football League championship, defeating Dayton 14-6 on Saturday. The Bulldogs (7-3, 6-1) bounced back from their only PFL defeat, a 20-13 setback at home against St. Thomas-Minnesota on Nov. 8. The Bulldogs have won three consecutive PFL titles and 24 of their past 26 league games. Drake scored first-half touchdowns on a 1-yard plunge by Logan Inagawa and a 66-yard dash by Herman in which the freshman broke a couple of tackles before outracing the defense to the end zone. Herman's previous high for rushing yards was 134 against Davidson in a 45-0 victory last month.

Dayton (6-4, 4-3) was shut out until the middle of the fourth quarter when Liam Poronsky and Michael Mussari connected for a 23-yard touchdown pass. The Flyers failed to drive inside the Drake 40 on their remaining two possessions. Drake had 248 yards rushing and Inagawa, a freshman quarterback, attempted only 12 passes, completing seven for 59 yards. Dayton passers went 17-for-37 for 197 yards and threw two interceptions, both of which were picked off by linebacker Sean Allison, who also contributed 12 tackles. The Flyers have lost three of their last four games after ripping off five straight victories earlier in the season. Drake can win the PFL outright with a win at home over Morehead State on Saturday. - AP College Football

Long Island (5-6, 3-3 Northeast Conference) led 3-0 at halftime on Will Johnson's 43-yard field goal. The Red Flash (0-10, 0-6) tied the game with 10 minutes left in the third quarter on Mac Plummer's 40-yard kick. Greenwood threw for 105 yards and led all rushers, carrying the ball 16 times for 79 of the Sharks' 249 yards total offense. O'Shawn Ross Jr. added 50 yards on 17 carries.   Texas AM Football   Texas A&M is finalizing a new six-year contract with Mike Elko that is expected to make him one of the five highest-paid coaches in college football, sources confirmed to ESPN on Saturday. According to sources, the new deal, which runs from 2026 through 2031, will average more than $11 million per season. Elko, in his second year since arriving from Duke, has led Texas A&M to a potentially historic season. The 9-0 Aggies are No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings and are facing South Carolina on Saturday. A win would give Texas A&M its first 10-win season since 2012 and second since 2000. The Aggies haven't started 10-0 in a season since 1992, which has happened only three times in school history. Elko, 48, was the ACC Coach of the Year at Duke in 2022 and is 17-5 in two seasons in College Station. He previously was the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M under Jimbo Fisher from 2018 to 2021. Yahoo Sports first reported Texas A&M finalizing Elko's new deal. - ESPN College Football

Oregon Football   Dante Moore threw for two touchdowns and freshman Jordon Davison ran for another pair to lead No. 7 Oregon to a 42-13 victory over Minnesota on Friday night. Moore was 27 of 30 for 306 yards for the Ducks (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten, No. 8 CFP). Davison ran for 57 yards on seven carries. Kenyon Sadiq caught eight passes for 96 yards and another score. Minnesota (6-4, 4-3) remained winless on the road this season. The Golden Gophers managed just 62 yards rushing against the Ducks, who went into the game ranked third in the nation in total defense. Oregon scored on its first series of the game. Moore completed a 23-yard pass to Sadiq to get the Ducks close, then they capped the drive with Davison's 1-yard touchdown run.

Sadiq returned after missing last weekend's 18-16 victory at Iowa, but Oregon was still without freshman receiver Dakorien Moore because of a knee injury. Oregon was also missing receiver Gary Bryant Jr., who injured his foot during the first quarter last weekend. The Ducks made it 14-0 on Davison's 39-yard touchdown run before Brady Denaburg's 46-yard field goal got Minnesota on the scoreboard early in the second quarter. Noah Whittington broke through a pile of of players then bobbled the ball in the end zone after a 40-yard dash, but it was ruled a touchdown after a review and Oregon went up 21-3. After Denaburg added a 26-yard field goal for the Gophers, Dante Moore hit Sadiq with a short 3-yard pass to put the Ducks up 28-6 at halftime. The Gophers scored on their first drive of the second half on Drake Lindsey's 10-yard scoring pass to Javon Tracy. Lindsey finished with 138 yards passing. Moore threw a 13-yard pass to Jeremiah McClellan, who was ruled on review to have a toe inbounds for the touchdown, to make it 35-13. The Ducks added another score on Jay Harris' 12-yard run early in the fourth quarter. Minnesota was coming off a bye. The Gophers' last outing was a 23-20 overtime win at home over Michigan State that made them bowl eligible. - Oregon/AP College Football

Clemson Football   Adam Randall ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns, and Clemson overcame Louisville's goal-line stand and a botched punt snap to sneak out with a 20-19 victory over the No. 19 Cardinals on Friday night. The Tigers (5-5, 3-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) went ahead on Randall's 1-yard touchdown run with 7:16 left. It was the second fourth-and-goal play at the 1-yard line for the Tigers in the final period, with the Cardinals (7-3, 4-3) stuffing them four minutes earlier. Cooper Ranvier, who missed an extra point in the second quarter, went wide left on a 50-yard field goal on Louisville's next drive, but a low snap to Clemson punter Jack Smith gave the Cardinals the ball at the Tigers 23-yard line with 2:29 left. However, a false start and an unsportsmanlike conduct flag pushed Louisville back, and Nick Keller missed a 46-yarder with 1:33 remaining. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said his "heart breaks" for Louisville because the Cardinals could have pulled out the win.

Besides the snap snafu, a 31-yard punt in the second quarter gave Louisville the ball at the Tigers 38. Miller Moss scored on a 1-yard sneak to make it 9-3 with 8:47 left in the first half. "We made enough mistakes to lose the game, and they made, obviously, mistakes, too," Swinney said. "But we just made just a couple more critical plays than they did." Louisville coach Jeff Brohm felt similarly, noting his team had "plenty of chances" to pull out the victory. The Cardinals committed 10 penalties for 98 yards. Three of those were for unsportsmanlike conduct. "We just did not play smart football at the end, overall, and we were not focused and locked in," Brohm said. The Tigers won despite converting just one of 13 third-down plays and giving up 385 yards to the Cardinals. Cade Klubnik was 22-of-34 passing for 187 yards. Keyjuan Brown ran for 135 yards on 15 carries for Louisville and Moss completed 19 of 27 passes for 212 yards. Receiver Caullin Lacy caught four passes for 60 yards and threw for a touchdown pass. - Clemson/AP College Football

Shaw racked up 83 rushing yards on 10 carries to pace the ground attack for the Bulldogs (8-3, 4-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), and KZ Adams added 52 yards on 14 touches. William Atkins IV threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns on 24-of-36 passing, and was picked off once.

SC State led 17-3 after one quarter of action, but a furious comeback from NC Central saw them trailing 20-17 headed to the locker rooms. Chris Mosley ran for 105 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. The Bulldogs tied the game early in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard strike to Jordan Smith by Atkins IV. Smith caught seven passes for 72 yards, and Deyandre Ruffin and Nigel Johnson also caught touchdowns.   Northern Illinois Football   Jalen Macon accounted for four touchdowns in his first Northern Illinois start since transferring in, and the Huskies rolled past Massachusetts 45-3 on Wednesday. Macon, an FCS Arkansas-Pine Bluff transfer, became the first NIU quarterback to win his debut start with the program since Rocky Lombardi, who led a 22-21 upset of Georgia Tech in 2021. Macon ran for three scores and threw another, steering an NIU offense that piled up 318 rushing yards while averaging 5.8 yards per carry. He finished with 98 yards on 12 attempts, including a 36-yard touchdown burst early in the third quarter that pushed the lead to 38-0. He also hit Elijah Porter for a 67-yard touchdown in the second quarter for the Huskies (3-7, 2-4 MAC).

Chavon Wright added 86 yards and a 1-yard touchdown, and backup Brady Davidson found Gary Givens for a 31-yard score to cap NIU's output with 8:16 left in the third. The Huskies scored on seven of their first eight possessions and recorded six plays of 20 yards or more. NIU's defense controlled every phase, holding UMass to 65 rushing yards on 25 carries and surrendering points only on a 44-yard field goal by Derek Morris with 6:13 left. The Minutemen (0-10, 0-6) managed just one red-zone trip and averaged 4.7 yards per pass attempt. Macon and Brady Davidson were 3-for-4 passing for the Huskies, combining for 115 yards and two touchdowns. DeShields finished 17-of-25 passing for 317 yards for Kent State (4-6, 3-3 Mid-American Conference). The redshirt freshman threw TD passes of 89 yards to Da'Realyst Clark, 43 yards to Cade Wolford, 7 yards to Terik Mulder and 27 yards to DaShawn Martin, the last of which gave the Golden Flashes a 35-17 lead less than a minute into the fourth quarter.

Ben Finley, who connected with Marcel Williams for a 30-yard TD in the second quarter, hit Williams for a 12-yard score with 10:58 left in regulation for Akron (4-7, 3-4). Matthew Schramm kicked a 20-yard field goal about four minutes later that made it 35-27.   Western Michigan Football   Quarterback Broc Lowry and Jalen Buckley each ran for a touchdown on Tuesday night to help Western Michigan beat Ohio 17-13 and take sole possession of first place in the Mid-American Conference. Western Michigan (6-4, 5-1) has a half-game lead over Miami (Ohio) and Buffalo in the conference standings, both of which have a half-game lead over Ohio (6-4, 4-2). Tailique Williams caught a pass from Broc Lowry behind the line of scrimmage and broke numerous tackles before he was brought down for a 71-yard game and, on the next play, Jalen Buckley ran for a 3-yard TD that gave Western Michigan a 17-13 lead with 13:43 left in the game.

Chase Hallock picked off a pass and returned it 37 yards to set up a 46-yard field goal by Palmer Domschke that opened the scoring about five minutes into the first quarter and Lowry's 1-yard TD run early in the third quarter gave the Broncos a 10-7 lead. Parker Navarro ran for a 2-yard touchdown late in the first quarter and Sieh Bangura capped a 17-play, 83-yard drive that took more than 10 minutes off the clock with a 3-yard scoring run on the first play of the fourth quarter that made it 13-10 after David Dellenbach's PAT attempt was no good. The Broncos honored former Western Michigan and Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, who died on Thursday. On the team's Senior Night, players held a jersey with Kneeland's No. 99 on it and wore helmet decals that read "MK 99."   Ohio State Football   Not surprisingly, Ohio State stayed at the top of the rankings, and there was a healthy debate about whether last weekend's action warranted keeping Indiana at No. 2, one spot ahead of Texas A&M. But while those top three remained the same in the Week 2 rankings released Tuesday, it was a game back in August that led the College Football Playoff selection committee to its biggest shakeup. The committee vaulted Miami to No. 15, one spot ahead of Georgia Tech, to hand the Canes the Atlantic Coast Conference's only spot in this week's projected bracket.

That decision came not so much on the strength of last weekend's action, - when Miami easily handled Syracuse and Georgia Tech was idle - but rather, thanks to Miami's season-opening win against Notre Dame. "Certainly, the win versus Notre Dame was a key factor for placing Miami ahead of Georgia Tech," committee chair Mack Rhoades explained. "In general, with the ACC, I think their lack of nonconference signature wins other than Miami over Notre Dame" hurts the conference. Following the trio of undefeateds - Ohio State, Indiana and Texas A&M - were Alabama and Georgia, who rounded out the same top five as in last week's season-opening rankings. - AP College Football

  11/10/25 - QB DJ Lagway, Jr/2028, Baylor + More +

Baylor Football   The Florida Gators are sticking with struggling quarterback DJ Lagway for Saturday's game at No. 6 Ole Miss. Interim coach Billy Gonzales said Lagway will take first-team repetitions in practice this week but added that "competition is great for everybody." Gonzales benched Lagway at halftime of last week's 38-7 loss to Kentucky, replacing him with freshman Tramell Jones. Lagway completed 11 of 19 passes for 83 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. Jones was 9-of-17 passing for 60 yards. Gonzales used a Major League Baseball analogy to explain his rationale for the move. "If a pitcher's struggling in the major leagues, what do you do? You get the next guy in, right?" Gonzales said Monday. "It doesn't mean that he's not a great pitcher. Just means that wasn't his day. For some reason or another, it wasn't breaking. For some reason or another, he didn't have the day that he wanted to have. "I talked to him about that. I said, 'So you're a great player, but I'm not going to let somebody just continue to struggle. I wanted to bring you out and let you refocus, let you gather, let you learn, and hopefully it's a learning experience. It's going to make you better this week when we prepare for Ole Miss." Lagway has thrown for 1,762 yards with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season. He has eight TDs and all his picks since beating lower-division Long Island in the season opener.

The Gators (3-6, 2-4 SEC) expected Lagway to show steady improvement after he missed most of the offseason while recovering from core-muscle surgery, pain in his throwing arm and then a strained left calm. But that hasn't been the case. He continues to regress after going 6-1 as a starter as a freshman in 2024 and now faces constant questions about his future with a program that is searching for its next head coach. The 20-year-old Lagway has declined to commit to Florida beyond this season despite having lucrative name, image and likeness deals with Gatorade, Jordan Brand, Mercedes-Benz of Gainesville, Lamborghini Orlando, T-Mobile, Beats by Dre, Chipotle, Red Bull and others. He signed a promotional deal with Hollister just days before getting benched against the Wildcats. - AP College Football

Texas Tech Football   Kansas State will be without leading tackler Austin Romaine for the remainder of the season after the All-Big 12 linebacker hurt his hand a couple of weeks ago and finally opted for surgery rather than to continue playing through the pain. Wildcats coach Chris Klieman announced Monday that "we decided to shelve him for the rest of the year."

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Romaine has made 66 stops this season, despite playing with his left hand heavily wrapped in recent weeks. He made 11 stops and intercepted a pass in a loss to Texas Tech a couple of weeks ago. Romaine's injury is another massive blow to the Wildcats, who were ranked in the preseason Top 25 but have struggled to live up to expectations. They are just 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12 heading into Saturday's trip to Oklahoma State, which means they need to win at least two of their last three games to become eligible for a bowl game. They finish at No. 15 Utah on Nov. 22 and against Colorado at home the following week. - AP College Football
