  Southeastern Louisiana Football   WEEK 9 SOUTHLAND SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Hayes, Southeastern - WR - Sr. - Hattiesburg, Miss. (Oak Grove HS),...For the second straight week, Hayes returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown. Hayes' 85-yard kickoff return touchdown in No. 19 Southeastern's 38-14 victory at HCU was his second of the season and third of his Lion career. Later in the third quarter, he broke free for a 55-yard kickoff return to set up an SLU field goal. On the day, he averaged 51.6 yards per kickoff return. One of two FCS players to return two kickoffs for touchdowns this fall, Hayes is third in FCS with 32.7 yards per kickoff return. - Southland Football

  Nicholls Football   WEEK 9 SOUTHLAND DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ty Marsh, Nicholls - DB - Sr. - Dallas, Texas (Denton Ryan HS),...Marsh sparked the Colonels' defensive effort in the 31-7 win over McNeese, totaling four tackles, an interception for a touchdown, and one sack. With Nicholls leading 10-7 in the third, Marsh tallied his second pick-6 of the season with a 45-yard return. It was his third interception for a TD in 20 career games with the Colonels. The Colonel defense allowed 264 yards with 90 coming on a highlight diving catch for 45 yards, and a 45-yard catch on a flea flicker. The victory was the fifth straight against McNeese, which is the longest winning streak for the Colonels in the series history. - Southland Football

  Texas-Rio Grande Valley Football   WEEK 9 SOUTHLAND OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eddie Lee Marburger, UTRGV - QB - R-Sr. - Mission, Texas (Sharyland Pioneer HS),...Marburger threw six touchdown passes, tied for the 10th-most in a game in Southland Conference history, while going 26-for-36 for a career-high 440 yards in the air to go with 13 yards and one touchdown on the ground. UTRGV finished with 548 total yards on offense, the most in both a FCS and conference game in the Southland this year, the most by a Southland team against an FCS opponent, the third most by UTRGV, and the fourth most by a Southland team this year. - Southland Football

  Lamar Football   WEEK 8 SOUTHLAND SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ben Woodard, Lamar - PK - Sr. - Plano, Texas (Plano East HS) - FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week, Woodard capped a banner performance by drilling a school-record 57-yard field goal with 1:03 left, lifting Lamar past UTRGV 23-21 in the Southland Conference. He kicked a 53-yard field goal to end the first half, also connected from 30 yards out and added two PATs for 11 points. Woodard, who is 17 of 19 on field goals over the last two seasons, averaged 63.8 yards on five kickoffs with three touchbacks. - Southland Football

  East Texas AM Football   WEEK 8 SOUTHLAND DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kyree Anderson, East Texas A&M - LB - Sr. - Houston, Texas (Cy-Lakes HS),...Anderson totaled 12 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, and one sack as well as an interception as the Lions downed the defending SLC champions UIW for the first time in school history to improve to 2-1 in conference play.   McNeese Football   WEEK 8 SOUTHLAND OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jake Strong, McNeese - QB - So. - Justin, Texas (Northwest HS),...Strong tied a single-game school record with three rushing TDs by a quarterback in helping lead McNeese to a 27-0 shutout win over HCU. Strong scored on runs of seven, seven, and 34 yards and ran the ball 16 times for 108 yards for a 6.8 ypc average. He became the first McNeese QB with three rushing TDs since the 2008 season.   Northern Illinois Football   WEEK 13 SOCON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Taron Dickens, R-So., QB, Western Carolina, Miami, Fla.,...Dickens accounted for four touchdowns in Western Carolina's 48-6 win over VMI. The native of Miami, Florida, logged 362 yards of total offense, throwing for 330 yards and rushing for 32 yards. The redshirt sophomore had touchdown passes of 12, 1 and 22 yards, along with a 3-yard score on the ground, marking his first touchdown run of the season. Dickens broke the SoCon's single-season record for touchdown passes in the contest, bringing his season total to 38 to top the mark of 36 set by Samford's Micheal Hiers in 2022 and Devlin Hodges in 2016.   Wofford Football   WEEK 13 SOCON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Maina, Sr., DL, Wofford, Hiram, Ga.,...Maina had nine tackles, including 2.5 sacks, one quarterback hurry and a forced fumble in Wofford's 35-13 win against Chattanooga. The senior logged two of his sacks in the first half and the shared sack in the fourth quarter. The product of Hiram, Georgia, led a defense that held the Mocs scoreless in the second half. Maina finished the season with 11 sacks, which is ranked fifth in program history.   Oregon State Football   WEEK 12 SOCON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Braden Atkinson, Fr., QB, Mercer (Rolesville, NC),...Atkinson powered the nationally-ranked Bears to their ninth-straight win, delivering a 63-17 decision over Chattanooga on Homecoming at Five Star Stadium. Atkinson completed 28-of-37 passes for 321 yards and five touchdowns, finding the end zone on throws of 33, 6, 12, 6, and 32 yards. Atkinson tied his own school record for single-game touchdown passes and broke three Mercer single-season records. A strong candidate for national postseason honors, Atkinson has completed 230-of-334 passes this season for 3,238 yards and 33 touchdowns. He has also rushed for a score. Saturday's effort marked the eighth time in nine games that he has topped the 300-yard mark through the air.   East Tennessee St. Football   WEEK 12 SOCON SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jackson Crosby, Gr., WR, East Tennessee State (Six Mile, SC),...Crosby had perhaps the biggest special teams play of the day for ETSU in its win at No. 25 Western Carolina on Saturday afternoon. He powered through to block a punt with just five seconds left in the third quarter, and his team was clinging to a 38-35 lead. The block set the Bucs' offense up nicely at the Western Carolina five, and power back Jason Albritton bulled into the end zone on the first play of the fourth quarter for a 45-35 ETSU lead that would hold.   Toledo Football   WEEK 12 SOCON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Andrew Zock, So., DE, Mercer (Hawthorne, FL),...Zock was a wrecking ball in Mercer's 63-17 win over Chattanooga, registering six total tackles (four solo), 3.5 tackles for loss (minus-21 yards), 1.5 sacks (minus-11 yards), one fumble recovery, and a quarterback hurry. Zock anchored a defensive effort that held the Mocs to only 12 first downs, 60 yards rushing, and 198 yards of total offense. Zock set new Mercer single-season records for tackles for loss and sacks, leading the team this season with 18.5 tackles behind the line (minus-103 yards) and 11.5 sacks (minus-83 yards). One of the nation's best pass rushers also has a team-high 22 quarterback hurries in 2025. The junior went 5-for-5 on PAT attempts and connected on field goals from 24 and 37 yards out. The 37-yarder was the game-winning field goal with under two minutes left. The product of Pace, Florida, also kicked four touchbacks on nine kickoffs. Mercer is ranked No. 8 in both the AFCA and Stats Perform polls.
