SEPT 30/WEEK 5 NEC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: MARQUIS SPENCE, MERRIMACK, WR, Sr., 6-0, 185 lbs., Englewood, NJ/Paramus Catholic,...WEEK 5 Stats: 175 rec yards, 16 receptions,...Spence accounted for a special day as the Warriors put a scare into Lehigh on the road at Goodman Stadium. He totaled a career-high 175 yards on 16 catches in a 10-3 setback. The senior pass-catcher unofficially tied the FCS single-game season high by making 16 receptions.

His 175 receiving yards were the most by an NEC athlete through the season’s first five weeks. His longest play of the day was 62-yard gain that set the Warriors up with a first down in red zone, leading to the first points of the game late in the second quarter. Spence gained first-down yardage on nine of the 16 grabs at Lehigh. (Spence cannot be listed on the official FCS leader board because Merrimack has yet to complete the four-year DI reclassification process). - NEC Football
