During his weekly press conference, Baylor head coach Dave Aranda announced that tight end Drake Dabney broke his fibula against Texas Tech and had surgery on Monday. This will likely end Dabney's 2022 season just as he had emerged into a big role for the Bears' offense. "We're going to miss him," Aranda said. "When I look at Drake, I think of just this year, all the improvement he made and just his mindset toward work. He was progressing from ... here's a guy who can block when Ben [Sims is] getting out on the routes, to here's Drake, here's your game plan, here's your routes, here's your matchups. He was looking forward to more of that." During Saturday's contest in Lubbock, Dabney hauled in a reception before staying down on the ground in visible pain. He was carted off the field shortly after, having posted two receptions for 12 yards before being ruled out. On the season, the Cypress native snagged 16 passes for 173 yards. - Dallas Morning News
