Everybody can't turn themselves in three years into a top-five pick the same way Chase Young and Nick and Joey Bosa did, yet they are the measuring stick for success. Those three are the outliers as generational talents in college football who just so happened to all be stacked back-to-back-to-back in Columbus. It took a while for Harrison to come to terms with that and stop pressuring himself to be something he's not. He doesn't have to be like any of those three to be an elite edge rusher for OSU. Now that he's figured that out, he's starting to tap into that which is helping elevate the defense. "It's definitely a process," Harrison said. "I definitely feel like I've come into myself more as a man, as a person and as a player. I've definitely matured a bunch and that's just part of realizing that everybody's journey is different. Not everybody comes into college is three-and-out (and) goes No. 2 overall. That's not common. I just put one foot in front of the other and just keep playing. "This year, I've learned this is how I rush, and these are the things I can do well," Harrison said. "I stopped trying to be somebody else and just play how I play." Harrison's performance against Iowa feels like a turning point in a career that has been underrated at times because his sack numbers haven't been eye-popping the way we've grown accustomed to seeing.

Both of his tackles resulted in a loss of yardage, and one of them was a strip sack. Then he tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage, which paved the way for Tanner McCalister's second interception of the afternoon. He's taken the long road to maximize his natural talent, but it seems as if Harrison has finally tapped into the best version of himself. He may be turning himself into a first-round NFL Draft pick in the process while leading a unit that's getting back to dictating the line of scrimmage in a way it hasn't consistently done since 2019. "Zach's playing some of his best football right now, and our defensive line, they're playing with an edge," Day said. "You can feel it out there. You can feel how fast they're playing, but Zach has really come along. He's practiced really well, his leadership's been good, and I think you guys would agree is by playing his best football right now." - Cleveland Plain Dealer
