  08/22/22 - QB Bo NixrSr/2024, Oregon

It's been an offseason of dramatic changes for Bo Nix. The former Auburn quarterback transferred to Oregon in January, spent the next several months getting acclimated to a new school and team while being over 2,500 miles away from home, family and his fiance. Nix got married in July, still managed to wedge some time in to work with private QB coaches and returned to Eugene with his wife, Izzy, to start their life together while he attempts to win the starting job during fall camp. "I think being married and having that part out of the way, it's no longer long distance," Nix said. "All that stuff can be a distraction. It's easier now. She's at home. She lives her life, I go live mine and when we get home we share our days and talk with each other. It's been good. She's great in this situation. She lets me have all the time I need with football, and that's a blessing. That's how I knew she was the one." Nix carries himself as a starting quarterback because that's who he has been for years, both at Auburn and in high school.

He's also doing that now while building relationships with new teammates and also being a husband, making time around practice and meetings to be at home. "I feel like the oldest guy, even though I'm not necessarily by age," he said. "People look at me because I'm already married, I've been through a lot, they assume that I'm a lot older, which is a good thing, because we have a lot of younger guys that haven't had that same experience. "But at the end of the day when you go out there and we have leadership like we have, especially up front on the offensive line, when you got Alex (Forsyth) and Ryan (Walk) and those guys that do their part and that carry that part of the line, it makes it kind of easy for a guy like me with similar experience to go out there and lead the other guys, lead the skill group. I take passion, take pride in it. It's fun to lead those guys and see those guys through to their potential and when their eyes light up and they figure something out for the first time it's a really good feeling." - The Oregonian
