  SEPT 9/WEEK 2 SOUTHERN CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Darren Grainger, Furman, R-Fr., QB, Conway, S.C.,...Furman quarterback Darren Grainger, making just his third career start, accounted for five touchdowns, going 16-for-24 for 323 yards and four touchdowns through the air and running nine times for 53 yards and another score as the Paladins fell 48-42 at FBS Georgia State on Saturday. The redshirt freshman from Conway, South Carolina, accounted for 376 yards of total offense, the fourth-highest total in school history. With TD passes of 18, 32, 11 and 30 yards and a scoring run of 12 yards, Grainger helped the Paladins match the school record for points against an FBS opponent since reclassifying to NCAA I-AA (now FCS) in 1982.
