Kam Stutts has bided his time in Auburn's offensive line room for three seasons. Now, the redshirt senior is trying to make sure his time has come. A career reserve, Stutts has seen his stock rise since the spring and appears to be making a push for the starting job at left guard in fall camp. "He's stepped up big time," left tackle Kilian Zierer said. "…He's finally getting playing time, getting out there. I think he's done really well so far." Stutts, a former three-star prospect out of Killen, has appeared in 25 games over the last three seasons but his role was that of a depth piece and special teams contributor.

His trajectory began to change in the spring, however, when he took advantage of first-team reps at left guard while returning starter Brandon Council was sidelined following an offseason procedure. The 6-foot-5, 339-pounder made the most of those 15 practices with the first-team offensive line, with offensive line coach Will Friend lauding Stutts' growth at the position, particularly from a consistency and preparation standpoint. Stutts, according to Friend, took his preparation seriously throughout the spring and carried everything - from fundamentals and schematics of the offense - through from meetings to walkthroughs, individual work, team drills and into scrimmages. - Birmingham News
