  Draft Scout by Conference

Early August can be a hunt for names. Everyone knows about the established Alabama stars like Bryce Young, Will Anderson or Jordan Battle. Everyone with a casual viewing experience knows what to expect from guys like that. But what about the unproven guys -- the ones you might not see coming? Anderson, for example, had his freshman breakout season after preseason murmurs hinted at the potential before the 2020 season. Well, Nick Saban and his two coordinators mentioned a few names Sunday that might be worth watching -- not with Anderson-level expectations -- but as possible contributors this fall. It began when Saban threw out a name from off the radar when discussing the healthy competition at cornerback.

Third-year player Jahquez Robinson, who appeared in one game on special teams in two seasons, has shown considerable improvement, Saban said unprompted. His was the first of a few notable names dropped by Crimson Tide coaches -- the most of whom were discussed on the defensive side of the ball. Coordinator Pete Golding added Terrion Arnold to the cornerback discussion outside of the main three of Kool-Aid McKinstry, Khyree Jackson and Eli Ricks. The redshirt freshman from Tallahassee didn't see any action a year ago. At middle linebacker, Henry To'o To'o has among the safest starting jobs but there's competition to play the other inside position. Fifth-year senior Jaylen Moody exited a brief stay in the transfer portal and is the leading candidate for the Will linebacker spot. - Birmingham News
