  SEPT 2/WEEK 1 BIG SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gardner-Webb defensive back Devin Mines had seven tackles (five solo) with two tackles-for-loss (minus-4 yards) and two interceptions for 32 yards in the Runnin' Bulldogs opener at Charlotte. He returned his first pick nine yards to thwart a 49ers' drive into GWU territory in a scoreless game. Mines' second interception was returned to the Charlotte 38-yard line that led to an eventual Gardner-Webb touchdown in the third quarter. Also nominated for Defensive Player of the Week: Justice Galloway-Velazquez (Campbell), Nick Salley (Charleston Southern) and Christian Angulo (Kennesaw State). - Big South Football
